Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday warned that eliminating abortion rights would damage the U.S. economy and 'set women back decades.' 'I believe that eliminating the right of women to make decisions about when and whether to have children would have very damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades,' she said at a Senate Banking Committee hearing. Yellen was asked about the draft Supreme Court opinion that indicated justices support overturning Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that legalized abortion, and the effect such a decision would have on the economy. 'It enabled many women to finish school that increase their earning potential and allowed

President Joe Biden once again ripped 'ultra MAGA' Republicans as he defended his plan to 'tackle' inflation on a day gas hit a record $4.37 per gallon.'I know you gotta be frustrated. I can taste it,' Biden said, speaking to the country from the White House as he argued that his actions on energy and the economy have eased price hikes – even as his plans to tax the wealthy and big corporations remain stalled in the Senate. 'I think our policies have helped, not hurt,' Biden said, asked about a leading Republican critic who accuses him of contributing to the problem. Biden once again stressed his 'ultra MAGA'

Wells Fargo has become the latest major financial institution to set new greenhouse gas standards requiring borrowers in the energy sector to reduce emissions. Oil and natural gas companies must reduce their absolute emissions by 26% by 2030, based on 2019 emission levels, Wells Fargo said last week. Other power sector businesses must see a 60% reduction during the same time period.
The new rules from Wells Fargo are part of a trend from financial institutions around the world to implement such climate regulations for its lending programs, joining the likes of Citigroup Inc. and the United Nations-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance. The alliance is an industry-led coalition

Harrisburg, Pa.—With six days until Pennsylvania's primary, Republicans are openly worrying that a leading candidate in the crowded GOP field for governor is unelectable in the fall general election and will fumble away an opportunity for the party to take over the battleground state's executive suite. Doug Mastriano, 58, a state senator since 2019 and a retired U.S. Army colonel, is running to the right of the nine-person Republican field and against the party's establishment in a state still roiled by former President Donald Trump's baseless conspiracy theories that Democrats stole the 2020 election there. Mastriano is a prominent peddler of the unsubstantiated claims that widespread fraud marred

The premiere of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Paramount Plus Thursday, appeared to allege that the January 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol triggered the fictitious nuclear World War III on Earth in the sci-fi series timeline. The spin off from Star Trek: Discovery, based in cannon from the 1960's original series, showed the crew of the Enterprise discovering a pre-warp society with advanced technology, which warring factions on the planet are about to use against each other.

Barrington, Rhode Island, public schools are among the best in the state. Many parents move to the district, and tolerate the higher taxes, because of the academic rigor that sets their children up for attending Ivy League schools or receiving academic merit scholarships. However, all of that academic appeal is being chipped away after the district brought in a so-called "equity and inclusion" agenda. De-leveling, or a system of universal learning, was first implemented in Barrington on the most vulnerable students—the students with learning disabilities and Individualized Education Programs (IEP). In February 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19

The gun-homicide rate jumped by a whopping 35% in 2020 against the backdrop of the pandemic while gun-involved suicides remained steady but alarmingly high, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a new report Tuesday. The report underscored the ripple effects of COVID-19’s impact on America and the agency’s decision to target gun violence after a decades-long silence. The overall firearm homicide rate jumped from 4.6 per 100,000 persons to 6.1 per 100,000 from 2019 to 2020, its highest level in nearly three decades. Rates increased among all age groups in both urban and rural areas and the largest increases were among Black

The Satanic Temple of the United States (TST) plans to file legal challenges against any states that restrict or ban abortions, claiming that such procedures constitute religious rituals for its adherents.
As Fox News reports, TST released a statement declared that “in states that outlaw abortion but grant exceptions for instances of incest and rape, members should be permitted a religious exception to perform TST’s religious abortion ritual.”
“States that outlaw abortion and do not grant exceptions present more significant challenges, but TST has a number of plans that we will be undertaking quite soon,” the statement continued.

Joe Biden, the man who has been "wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades," as former defense secretary Bob Gates wrote, has nebulously put the U.S. on a path to war with Russia. Not because he wants to. But because he doesn't know what he's doing.
That's the consensus of foreign policy experts as diverse as Thomas Friedman, golf buddy to President Obama, and Mark Wauck, the decorated former FBI official from its pre-wokedom era.
According to Friedman, writing on May 6:
If you just followed news reports on Ukraine, you might think that the war has settled into a long, grinding and somewhat boring slog

On January 6, 2021, several members of the Oath Keepers marched up the US Capitol steps, stood in a line, and sang the National Anthem with the tens of thousands of patriots outside the building.Several members of the Oath Keepers, who were in Washington DC only to provide protection to speakers at the several organized protests that week, walked into the US Capitol. They were seen taking pictures inside the building. Now the Biden Department of Justice, under the direction of Matthew Graves, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia, are threatening those same men with life in prison.

Remember when denying the legitimacy of any election was not only disqualifying but also got you kicked off Jake Tapper’s low-rated CNN show? I wonder if that rule will hold for Karine Jean-Pierre, who is set to take over as Joe Biden’s press secretary on May 13th. I think we all know the answer to that.
Apparently, Jean-Pierre has a colorful history on social media, and now some of her old tweets are painting a far different picture than the one she’s tried to present since joining the White House. Far from the level-headed, straight shooter that she wants people to believe she is, Jean-Pierre is apparently a conspiratorial lunatic .I’m literally shaking

Seattle - Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said Tuesday he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms.
Via Twitter, the billionaire philanthropist said he will isolate until he is again healthy.
“I’m fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted and have access to testing and great medical care,” Gates wrote.
The Seattle-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the most influential private foundation in the world, with an endowment of about $65 billion.
Bill Gates has been a vocal proponent for pandemic mitigation measures
