A couple of weeks ago we learned there was concern within the Biden administration that Title 42, which allows the border patrol to quickly remove immigrants on health grounds, might be allowed to expire this week. And if that were to happen there was concern that the already high numbers of migrants at the border would spike. The situation was worrisome enough that Sens. Sinema and Kelly of Arizona sent a letter asking to see the Biden administration’s plan for dealing with the potential crisis that could unfold if Title 42 were to abruptly end.
The CDC will complete

We still don’t know how or when the current war in Ukraine will end, assuming it does, and anyone telling you they know the answer is probably selling something. But there is no question that this event has reshaped many aspects of the current world order and some changes might be permanent. If events follow any sort of logical course, many of these long-term changes will not work out in Russia’s favor either before or after the dust settles. At CNBC, Holly Ellyatt has mapped out the five most likely consequences for both Putin himself and the Russian people in general.

We reported Monday on how Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the unfairly maligned Florida parental rights bill into law, which prompted the Usual Suspects on the left and in the media to once again howl with manufactured outrage that DeSantis had “banned” saying “gay” in public school classrooms (he hasn’t).
One of the more noteworthy examples of a prominent DeSantis critic weighing in came from Disney, which promptly proclaimed that they would be on the frontlines of supporting efforts by dark money/billionaire-funded radical leftist groups to get the law, which among other things prevents instruction of gender identity and sexual orientation topics in grades K-3, repealed or struck down by the courts.

Centrist Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Tuesday shot down President Biden's new plan to raise $360 billion in revenue by imposing a 20 percent minimum tax on billionaires, a proposal the president formally unveiled Monday in his budget request to Congress.
Manchin says he doesn't support the president's plan to tax the unrealized gains of billionaires, which would set a new precedent by taxing the value an asset accrues in theory before it is actually sold and converted into cash.
"You can't tax something that's not earned. Earned income is what we're based on," he told The Hill. "There's other ways to do it. Everybody has to pay their

SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Monday that he has contracted COVID-19 for the second time but was feeling well.
The tech giant tweeted about his condition and said he was not experiencing any symptoms.
"Covid-19 is the virus of Theseus. How many gene changes before it’s not Covid-19 anymore? I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms," he wrote. Musk previously tested positive for the virus in November 2020 before a vaccine was available. At the time, he said he tested himself four times on the same day, with two tests showing positive results.
Musk has voiced opposition to vaccine mandates and has downplayed

New evidence has emerged Vladimir Putin and his highest ranking commanders are running the war in Ukraine from top secret nuclear bunkers.
Movements of planes used by top Kremlin officials show Putin may be in a hideaway near Surgut, in western Siberia, it has been claimed . His defence minister Sergei Shoigu - who has been mysteriously absent for several weeks, sparking rumours about his health - is believed to be in a bunker near Ufa in the Urals, 725 miles east of Moscow, according to investigative journalist Christo Grozev. This theory is backed up by his daughter Ksenia Shoigu, 31, visiting Ufa for an estimated three days

Last Friday, the operations director of the Russian General Staff, Sergei Rudskoy, gave an otherworldly “update” on the status of the “special military operation” or “limited incursion” or anything but a war going on in Ukraine. In that update, he claimed that Russia had never tried to capture Kiev (pronounced “Keef” if you work for NPR or are named Christiane Amanpour). The Russian Army was not, contrary to popular belief, getting drubbed outside Kiev; it was just holding the Ukrainians in place as the master plan unfolded in Donbas (see Russia’s General Staff Claims Invasion Objectives ‘Mainly Accomplished’ and Phase II of Ukraine Invasion Is Starting).
There were some glaring contradictions

The White House on Monday attempted to clarify what President Joe Biden said to reporters about Americans training Ukrainian troops in Poland.
During a question and answer session with members of the media at the White House, Biden responded to a question concerning his remark last week about what U.S. service members would see in Ukraine, “when you’re there.” “You’re going to see, when you’re there, and some of you have been there, you’re going to see women, young people, standing in front of a damn tank…” he said.
But when asked Monday to explain what he meant, Biden said he was only talking with American troops

In the days following Joe Biden’s call for regime change in Russia, a comment that was walked back by the White House before Biden managed to reassert it, there have been lots of different takes regarding whether he was “correct” to say what he said or not.
The foreign policy establishment, because they can never think more than one step ahead, absolutely loved it. It was Biden’s “tear down this wall” moment they asserted without a second thought for what it actually meant to call for Vladimir Putin’s ouster without any viable plan to bring that about. From there, accusations of being pro-Putin if one didn’t agree with Biden predictably emerged.

President Joe Biden appeared to reveal that the U.S. is training Ukrainian forces in Poland — stating for the first time since the war began that American troops are actively teaching Ukrainians to fight and kill Russians.
The United States has been providing billions of dollars in weapons and other assistance to Ukraine, with much of that aid going through Poland. The president spent part of last week in the country, meeting with U.S. troops stationed in the southeast and delivering a speech about the West’s unity in the face of Russian aggression.
But to date, the Biden administration has painstakingly made the case that that is as far as they’ll go.

The Food and Drug Administration has authorized fourth Pfizer and Moderna Covid vaccine doses for everyone age 50 and older, amid uncertainty over whether an even more contagious version of omicron will cause another wave of infection in the U.S. as it has in Europe and China.
The FDA also said it authorized a second Pfizer booster shot for people age 12 and older who have compromised immune systems, and a second Moderna booster for adults ages 18 and older with compromised immune systems. All of the new boosters are to be administered at least fourth months after the last shot.
The FDA made the decision without a meeting

People vote most sincerely when they vote with their feet. One of the basic realities of our time, transcending and perhaps ultimately overwhelming many of our current political debates, is that people are fleeing blue states and moving to red states. What states are in decline? California, New York, Illinois, Minnesota. What states are prospering? Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah. And above all, Florida.
Current Census Bureau data speak for themselves:
Four of the nation’s top 10 metro areas with the highest population growth last year were in Florida — more than any other state, according to new US Census data.

In addition, two Florida counties
