William Barr and Trump’s 2024 Conundrum

Original Article

Posted By: Judy W., 3/17/2022 8:44:15 AM

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper—authors will go anywhere to flog a book—William Barr said he would back a candidate other than Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican nomination. The former attorney general, whose new book is “One Damn Thing After Another,” explained: “Yes, I think the coming presidential election would be a good opportunity for the Republican Party. The progressive left is showing a sort of totalitarian temperament. “I think the Republicans can win a decisive majority, but I don’t think we can do it with Trump. He’s just too divisive a candidate.” I wanted to dispute Barr. (Snip) I have lost respect for the man.

Comments:

The article takes a while getting to the point, which isn't Barr so much as whether Trump can win in a general election. Simon is looking at a poll that shows Trump and Biden getting equal percentages of the vote, and concludes that Trump hatred is still alive and well. Of course, the poll could be wrong, but Simon's thoughts on it are still interesting.

It will not matter what you or I think about Trump. The World Order that now controls every industry and institution in our country will never allow Trump to be President again. Trump hatred will always be a primal force and will be weaponized by the Order to gloss over whatever they have to do to defeat him. Move on from Trump, He's not the future...if we have a future.

If we 'move on from Trump' without resolving the root issue - brazen illegality and totalitarian acts by the Washington establishment there definitely will be no future. As Jesus says in the Book of John 'Whosoever comes to the Father comes through me'. The only path to political salvation goes through Trump, imperfect as he might be.

So, #1, we are to turn our backs on the guy with a proven record of success despite constant daily illegitimate attacks from the left? Did I get that right? Are you telling me that someone else with an America First agenda will not get the same treatment? Or is that only reserved for Trump? Please! The democrat leftist globalists will try and destroy anyone they feel is a threat so why go with the guy who already defeated them, at least once, twice if you believe the election was stolen. Anyone who wants to put this country first and back on the track to greatness will be vilified. Personally, I will go with a proven winner. I would rather go down in flames with President Trump than follow another Rino off the edge of the cliff. I am done with anyone who doesn’t want to fight and fight hard to put these anti-American zealots in their place. They have shown us they are ruthless, lawless and corrupt. It is going to take a no holds barred fighter to bring the fight to them. Right now, at this time in the country, nothing else is going to win. The people support Trump. They love him not in a cultish way but because he understands who makes this country work and will not allow them to be destroyed for want of courage. He will fight for Americans and this country. He knows the enemy. He’s battle tested and ready. If he chooses to run, he will get my support.

I think if Trump does run in 2024 I have his new theme song. Instead of the Village People" singing "Macho Man" at his rallies it should be "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Alice Cooper. A lot of Trump decisions were made to appeal to the radical left. He won't make the same mistake again especially in personnel hires like Barr and Pence and Rex Tillerson.

If the New World Order is powerful enough to prevent Trump’s re-election, how does the election matter in the first place? We have land. We no longer have a country.

Roger Simon brings up a very real possibility. The hate for Trump is burning and well alive. There is zero change in anyone I know who hates him. Including some so called conservatives in my own family. They just hate him as a person and are blinded by that vs. what he gets done. He is is own worse enemy and makes no effort to not snipe and belittle and be petty against people who he is "mad" at. This is frustrating to those of us who know he gets things done. He could just stand strong on what he actually does vs. what he tends to say that sounds like a schoolyard fight half the time. I realize now he will never change. I will vote for him, but even with all the pain the dems are bringing, I fear the hate for Trump will still cause more people to vote against him, rather then for the dem candidate.

Somebody tell me how Trump and Biden getting equal percentages of the vote, when it's supposed to be a landslide in the midterms. People are already saying that the Ukraine disaster would not have happened with Trump in the White House. And Biden is an addled old man. I've said before, Biden will not be capable of running again, assuming he is still alive. And Democrats are not going to nominate him anyway! It isn't worth discussing. The truth is that the Democrats have no one to go up against Trump or any Republican, for that matter. That poll is total B.S.

#10 asks: "Somebody tell me how Trump and Biden getting equal percentages of the vote, when it's supposed to be a landslide in the midterms." Simon answered the first part of the question from his perspective. The second part is that TRUMP is nowhere on the '22 ballot. The mid-term game is entirely UNIPARTY. If the Republicans win, Mitch will become Senate Majority Leader and McCarthy Speaker of the House. Those dreaming of a Trump speakership are largely the same crowd predicts he'd be restored next week, or the week after...for over a year now. Or that the election can be annulled. Reality has little value to them. The reality is that the UNIPARTY will torpedo FPDT at every turn. And this time the GOPe will not save him. In fact, it will likely gain cred among the "moderates" if they convict PDT on an impeachment charge however manufactured...even if in the majority. Mitch said as much after Impeachment Trial 2. Unless FPDT can muster an armada of loyalists to assume the controls of the bureaucracy and military institutions, he's going to be toast. We've seen this before, but the game is different this time without the GOPe bailing him out. 2024 will be an interesting primary season. If FPDT thinks he can get by on MAGA and bluster this time, he may be misreading the Republican electorate, which grew tired of the uproar particularly after Impeachment 2. Don't think the others who may run won't be ready for it this time around...they can go "No More Mister Nice Guy", too.

The Trump hate continues unabated even among those who cannot stand Brandon. For example I had lunch with a moderately conservative friend a few days ago who said he did not vote for Trump because he could never vote for a man who says things like "grab 'em by the *****". Despite agreeing wholeheartedly with what a disaster Biden has been and admitting to Trump's policy successes, he kept insisting that he would never vote for him no matter what "because of the stupid things he says". Reciting the litany of Biden's idiocies merely elicited the response "I won't vote for him either". There are an awful lot of people who feel the same way who would have no problem voting for Desantis, who has the additional advantage that he won't be forced to deflect charges of insurrection and treason at every interview. Whether its fair or not is irrelevant. It is a fact. One that may be significant enough to tilt the outcome of the most critical lifetime. I will support Trump 1000% if he is the nominee but I hope he decides not to run and throws his support behind Desantis.

I had a cousin who generally supported Republicans but apparently voted for Biden. I asked her about that and her response was typical of those who couldn't abide or understand Trump's bombastic retorts. She said, "(With Biden) Things will "calm down" now. You'll see." She has since passed away but I often wish she were still with us simply so I could ask her "are things calm yet?"

I thought there would be a problem in 2020 because of the college educated 'wimmen' and their distaste for him but he did fine, until the old dominion machines got in the way. Is any of the states doing anything to restore the correct voting laws that were changed before 2020? I don't hear anything about it. Go, PDJT. We need you.

Donald Trump’s 2015 rise, his incredible 2016 victory, and his remarkable political resilience since then, together constitute one of the most important developments in American political history. (Snip) Much like Donald Trump, Vance has aroused the wrath of establishment Republicans and Democrats for questioning D.C. orthodoxy. He has stood up for January 6 political prisoners and demanded closer investigation of Capitol provocateur Ray Epps. He’s called out America’s “third world” election system and demanded real reforms. Many who have followed this coronavirus “public health crisis” and the non-sensical response provided by most of the western nations (including the USA) have been perplexed by two big questions - how was this done (in such a globally coordinated fashion), and why was it done? In my case, I have tried to follow the various threads of facts and logic, to confront the perplexingly dysfunctional public policies, and to make sense of what is so deeply illogical. What I have found has been layers of lies, one on top of another, which seem to require an amazingly coordinated and globally comprehensive control and shaping of information  CORRECTION*

After Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau cracked down on protestors in his own country and sent his henchwoman, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, to freeze the assets of protesting truck drivers and their supporters, he traveled to Brussels to speak to the European Parliament. His theme was the threats to democracy posed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the growing distrust of governments in the West in the face of economic uncertainty. As the nation all-too slowly emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic nightmare we’ve endured for over two years, we are only beginning to get data back on the myriad horrors brought about by shortsighted policies that were forced upon us in the name of public health. None of it is pretty. One would presume that public health policy would protect or foster some sort of, you know, health. Alas, since the government is involved, words don’t always mean what they’re supposed to. In the rush to mitigate the spread of the COVID virus, public health policy could have best been described as a lot of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Before beating a hasty retreat, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went where no world leader has gone before. Last month, he became the first Western leader to wield the financial system as a push-button weapon of government enforcement against opinions and behaviors that he found politically distasteful or inconvenient. This is an entirely new form of power, which much of the world has not even begun to reckon with—but which may well define our politics in the years to come. The average American was unlikely to see mainstream scientists challenging COVID-19 conventional wisdom outside of Fox News until recent months, when New York Times columnist David Leonhardt started shifting the Overton Window for elite discourse on pandemic policy. That troubles the three dozen scientists, academics and journalists who gathered in D.C. last week to discuss censorship in science and ways to push back, perhaps through alternative institutions such as the nascent University of Austin. President Trump's former COVID advisor Scott Atlas cohosted the "quasi-kickoff" of Hillsdale College's Academy for Science and Freedom, which he called a "seed" to be followed by larger meetings and smaller working groups.
