Ukraine to Putin: Never Again

Word from the battlegrounds in Ukraine is scattered and cannot always be confirmed, but some credible accounts give every indication that Putin may have blundered and faces a stronger defense than he (or the Biden administration) imagined possible. The bravery of a former comedian elected the Ukrainian President and a multimillionaire former boxing champion, now the mayor of Kyiv, who refused flight and stayed to defend their homeland at great risk of their lives, is part of the story. Yes OP, as an American we want to help the "good guys". As a combat vet I want to be beside the boots on the ground and save folks. But not drag America treasure with all that goes with it half way round the world in ANOTHER bottomless quagmire. The whole thing is a mess and was preventable.

Bless you, Clarice - not your best effort, but I get it.When the Soviet Union fell, after a cascade of events that included Chernobyl, a Polish Pope, Hus Eminence Ronald Reagan's election, the weight of history seems to have short-circuited my analytical abilities. I am cursed while simultaneously blessed with a n ability to remember huge amounts of details, yet I had forgotten about William Christopher and Dollar Bill Clinton's betrayal of the Ukraine and their nuclear weapons. Perhaps I was distracted by the emergence of the filthy islamofascist terrorist pigs with the Iran hostage crisis, or Chernobyl, or the continuing mess known as Whitewater. All of that was followed by 9/11/01, the emergence of the Kenyan Klown, inexplicably winning the presidency, as his hatred for America, shared and reinforced by Michelle, simmered under his smile. ":All that, just for a flag,"muttered a head-shaking Michelle, early on in Barack's first term, earned a nodded agreement from Barack. So I apologize to myself for that disconnect from the flow of history. And while I take responsibility for my own short-comings, I have to blame our idiot media - a group of people who betrayed our country more than the Rosenbergs did. The media could have protected us against a Barack Obola, or a Joseph Snobinette Biden and his Criminal Crime Family. Yet the media remain insane to this date. I clicked on MSNBC last night, 8:30 PM, and a little man was interviewing Carolyn Maloney, the carpetbagging cracker who represents a part of NYC in the U.S. House of Representatives. What was Carolyn doing? She was bragging about her upcoming hearings concering the Presidential Records A.ct When a president leaves office, there is a sorting process to keep official records intact. And every president gets it a bit wrong, due to the huge volumes of documents involved.. Maloney seems to be criminallzing the process for DJT. And the leftist loons at the National Archives apparently are on board with Maloney. We, as a culture, as a country, have gone insane.

This could easily have been over in a day if Putin were indifferent to life. That does not appear to be his intent. He is adamant about his red line - preventing any part of the former Soviet Union from becoming a staging ground for missiles aimed at Moscow. I would say he has succeeded in getting our attention.

FTA: "There were even several reports that Russian troop transports included mobile crematoria and a suggestion that this was to keep the number of casualties secret." Putin is so cheap he can cremate his own soldiers then tell their widows, children, parents that they died in accidents or of illnesses. Thus he denies the surviving families combat benefits.

Until somebody proves different to me, that this baying for Putin's head isn't a cry to protect the corrupted financial assets of US politicians and corrupt Ukrainian politicians, I am still not convinced that Putin is the bad guy here. Especially since he is protecting Chernobyl from any Ukrainian terrorist attack that might happen.

It's impressive and heroic to watch people fight for their own country instead of bowing down to a bigger foe. My prayer is that they send the Russian troops home in defeat. If Russia wins what have they got? A country that will forever hate them for killing their loved ones and destroying their country. This is not Hitler's Austria.

Wade through the propaganda, the pictures of bloody elders, crying children, and determined women taking up arms to defend the homeland. Reminds me of the last days of Berlin in '45 - Volksturm with panzerfaust, "Berlin bleibt Deutsch" painted on walls, and all the rest. The question is not whether Ukraine can successfully defend itself, but how far Russia/Putin will go for victory. It appears talks are now taking shape after Putin reportedly threatened use of nukes. The expectation is that Ukraine will renounce any efforts to ever join NATO, that it will largely disarm, and cede those breakaway "regions" to Russia. In return Russia sends "aid". Let's watch the kabuki of negotiations. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, “It threatens our entire post-war order." And that's the real rub in the West, which is dismantling its "democracy" while trying to rally the boobs to defend Ukraine's.

I just want to see a strategy where Ukraine actually wins this war. My fear is this war will turn into a slaughter on a scale far worse than anything we have seen recently. Wars are not won in four days. The US did not defeat Iraq in four days. All these stories saying Potatohead is in trouble are hogwash. He never planned to defeat Ukraine in just four days. I'm not cheering on the Ukrainians. At least not until they show me a winning strategy. I have a problem cheering on people so they can be slaughtered.

The Ukraine is supposedly fighting for their very existence and yet their dear leader has time for social media posts, and to put out communications daily, if not hourly? Photos released from the supposed battlefield are remarkably similar to photos of different conflicts and emergency situations from several years ago? Meanwhile, Putin has taken out almost all Wuhan-type bioweapons labs in the Ukraine. I would say that Putin is smart enough to know he does not want that threat next door. The global elite with the help of the media media are playing us.

Best wishes to the Ukrainians. I hope that they can gather lots of weapons to repel this invasion. There is an outdoor museum in Kiev that I visited several times, chock full of armored vehicles, tanks, tank killers, and artillery. I wonder if any of them can be made to run? There is an ancient ISU-152 heavy tank, old and maybe slow, there. They have no turret so cannot slew left and right much, needed to be engaging at long range, preferably defending a narrow choke point from long range so the targets are in a narrow area. But they carried a 152 mm main gun, still extremely powerful. Of course is there the right ammo, and are the engines able to run? Have the guns been disabled in the museum? I don't know how desperate the Ukrainians are, and whether this old WW2 monsters might once again roar, but they are there, and appeared intact. At the 9:30 mark in this video, he covers the outdoor museum filled with old tanks, I walked the three or four miles down to this museum several times on a Saturday in Kiev. Some of them served into the 70s. If you watch from the beginning, he shows the exterior of their WW2 museum, with the giant stainless steel lady with a sword, Rhodina Mat, Mother of the Motherland, over 300 feet tall, IIRC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2H2ngXsRQc

California doctors who object to assisted suicide are fighting an amended state law that implicates them in their patients' intentional deaths. They are suing California officials, including Attorney General Rob Bonta, Department of Public Health Director Tomas Aragon, and Medical Board members to block SB 380, which made it easier for patients to commit suicide under the End of Life Options Act that took effect in 2016. The original law issued a broad exemption for healthcare providers, granting them a liability shield for "refusing to inform" patients about their right to physician-assisted suicide and "not referring" patients to physicians who will assist in their suicides. The amended law removed it,

In an ideal world, maybe we could ignore what's happening in Ukraine but we have to see the world as it is, not how we want it to be: Russia is calling and wants its Ukraine back. I generally appreciate Tucker Carlson, but every time he discusses Ukraine and Russia, I bristle — especially when he contends that America has no interest in Ukraine. I know some of you might agree with Carlson, but you can be a solid conservative who is just as war-weary as the next guy and still see a security interest in Ukraine without being a neocon.

As I expected, I got a bit of flak for my last article from people who do not want to believe that American life in the 1950s was far more vibrantly social than it is now, and that the basis of that sociality was the strength of the family. I was not saying that the 1950s were ideal—no time is.
