Republicans are demanding answers from the Food and Drug Administration following a damning report that the vast majority of noninvasive prenatal tests are inaccurate.
In a letter first obtained by The Daily Signal propelled by Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, Rep. Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota, and Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, the group of Republican lawmakers are calling on acting Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Janet Woodcock to address the January New York Times report on prenatal testing.
“When I first read the troubling New York Times story on noninvasive prenatal testing, I thought of my godson, who was recommended for abortion following a prenatal screening,”

The Biden White House has withdrawn U.S. support from a pipeline project designed to deliver Israeli natural gas to Europe, reversing a decision taken by President Donald Trump’s administration.
The 1,180-mile undersea pipeline project from Israel to southern Europe, set to be completed by 2025, will ease Europe’s dependence on Russia and Turkey. These two countries have a stranglehold on the continent’s energy supply.
“The United States is no longer supporting the construction of EastMed gas pipeline project as Washington’s interest is now switching to renewable energy sources, according to a State Department statement,” the Euractiv, a Brussels based news website, reported recently.

Jessica Rose didn’t ask for any of this. She started to analyze data on adverse reactions after COVID-19 vaccines simply as an exercise to master a new piece of software. But she couldn’t ignore what she saw and decided to publish the results of her analysis. The next thing she knew, she was in a “bizzarro world,” she told The Epoch Times.
She picked the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), a database of reports of health problems that have occurred after a vaccination and may or may not have been caused by it.
What she found, however, was disturbing to her.

On Monday, off-duty LAPD officer Fernando Arroyos and his girlfriend were out in South L.A. looking at houses, in anticipation of getting married and settling down there. (Snip) With the deaths of these three people, two not yet out of their twenties, someone finally snapped in L.A. His name is Alex Villanueva, the elected sheriff of L.A. County, where the Arroyos murder occurred.
Sheriff Villanueva discussed the case with some of Gascon's staff and then, in a shocking move, filed the case with the U.S Department of Justice instead, as he had no faith in Gascon's office to properly prosecute the case.

Republicans are pushing for greater access to monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID-19 after the federal government took over the distribution of such drugs last year.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, filed Senate Bill 3440 to prohibit the federal government from limiting state access to monoclonal antibody treatments.
“One of the things we've learned during this pandemic is that monoclonal antibodies can have a very effective therapeutic effect in combatting COVID-19 infections," Cruz said in a statement. "The Biden administration responded to these encouraging results by rationing and limiting the ability of people to access monoclonal antibodies and stopping states like my home state of Texas from ordering the treatments directly.

Things keep changing. A few months ago I thought Trump would not run. Then I thought he would run. Now, I don’t think so once again. And one of the tells is the subtle shot he took at DeSantis over vaccines. The fact is that Trump, if he runs, is not a shoo-in. And this could be an epic battle for the chance to beat Kamala Harris like a drum in 2024. And, at least according to people like you who took my most recent Twitter poll, Trump is not a shoo-in. He’s dropped to just one-third support from nearly half six months ago. If he wants to win

Alongside all the hype and chatter about the January 6 anniversary, there was another worthy news story the first week of 2022. On Monday, January 3, a federal jury in California convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes on three counts of wire fraud and one of conspiracy to defraud investors. Holmes, six years removed from being the richest self-made woman in the world, now faces as many as twenty years in prison, though she will likely receive less.
While it’s always good to see criminals receive their just desserts, there is another upbeat aspect to the Holmes saga. (Snip) It’s a profound and permanent humiliation for America’s entire incompetent, vacuous leadership caste.

Is it possible to reconcile America’s past of slavery with the Founding Fathers’ vision of liberty and equality?
For William Allen, who has spent much of his career serving as a professor of political philosophy, the question is both academic and personal.
Growing up in the segregated south, Allen witnessed firsthand changes in American law and culture that directly affected how blacks were treated.
(Snip) Even in the face of the discrimination he, and so many others, faced “people were not so overcome with the spirit of oppression that they lacked agency,” Allen said, adding he is not sure the same can be said today.

Nearly two years after former President Donald Trump tossed politics into the nation’s battle against the coronavirus, the partisan divide appears to have grown, with Republicans fighting mandates and Democrats calling for harsh punishments for those who refuse to get vaccinated.
In an expanded survey of the public’s view of mandates and punishments to get people vaccinated, Rasmussen Reports found that Democrats even support fines, home confinement, and prison for those who fight the government on masks and shots. (Snip)
Consider: Twenty-nine percent of Democrats would go so far as to support taking children away from parents who refused to be vaccinated.

We’re in Central Park, at night. A young couple are sitting on a bench, kissing, when all at once a small gang of boys and girls shows up. The oldest can’t be more than 14. Two of the boys, one black and one white, are playing accordions. (Snip)
The scene is from Frank Capra’s “You Can’t Take It With You” (1938), with Jimmy Stewart and Jean Arthur as the couple in love. Whenever I see such a scene with children having real and adventurous lives, I first ask why people in 1938 found such a scene credible, while we do not, because we hardly ever see children outdoors, in groups

One of New Hampshire’s leading political conservatives is fighting to keep his children from the state’s child protection services agency after giving his 13-year-old son ivermectin.
JR Hoell is the founder of ReOpen NH, an activist group that criticizes COVID-19 vaccine mandates. Hoell, who has also led public education reform efforts and promotes Second Amendment and homeschooling rights, told The Epoch Times that the New Hampshire Division of Children Youth and Family (DCYF) showed up at his doorstep on the night of Dec. 9 with an emergency ex parte order to take custody of his son.
“I want to go on the record as calling the DCYF a terrorist organization,”

Why aren’t liberals fun anymore?
That was the question asked in a 2018 op-ed in The Hill by Stephen Moore. Moore observed that liberals, who were once the fun ones in American culture, have become punitive, tight-assed, dour.
“What a difference a generation makes,” Moore wrote. “It used to be conservatives who were the stuffy ones. Liberals were the fun ones to be around. Now the ones who are so uptight are the liberals like actor Jeff Bridges, who once was funny but now is so embarrassed by modern day America that he seems to want to be anywhere on this planet, except here.”
Comments:
The states and medical facilities used to be able to order monoclonal antibodies directly from the distributor -- that is, the usual way to distribute goods in a free economy. But Biden wants to be able to withhold the treatment from states whose governors he doesn't like, or to favor certain racial groups, or any other criteria that show who is boss of our lives.
