Democrats are struggling to find candidates willing to run for Congress in Florida, as the August primary is only months away, according to a report. “Democrats have little clue whose names they’ll be marking on their ballots for two of South Florida’s most competitive congressional races,” according to a report from the Miami Herald. While the Florida Democrat Party declined to comment on their recruitment attempts to the Herald, the report noted that there had been little evidence that showed the Democrats have anyone lined up to run against Republicans

Democrats' attempt to use a "nuclear option" to get around the filibuster for two major elections bills failed Wednesday after the gambit from Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was stymied by Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema.

Senate Republicans on Wednesday blocked a sweeping election bill, setting up a doomed push by Senate Democrats to try to change the chamber’s legislative filibuster.
Senators voted 49-51, falling short of 60 votes needed to advance the legislation that combines the Freedom to Vote Act, which would overhaul elections and campaign finance laws, with the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which strengthens the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
Democrats spent the hours leading up to the vote making an 11th hour plea for the legislation — directed at both Republicans and their own members — warning that the votes would go down as a crucial moment in history.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Thursday brought a fruit basket to the Capitol for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, thanking the chamber's top Democrat for forcing his vulnerable members on the record in a vote to get rid of the legislative filibuster.
NRSC spokesman Chris Hartline foreshadowed the move in a December interview with Fox News. "If Schumer continues down this path… I think we'll send him a gift basket or something," Hartline said.
"It's not about the rule itself. It's about why they do it," he added. "They're not trying to change the rules so they can more easily name post offices.

The FBI was on the scene Wednesday near the Laredo home of U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar for what authorities described as a court-authorized ongoing investigation.
FBI spokesperson Rosanne Hughes confirmed law enforcement’s presence in the area but did not clarify what authorities were investigating.
Hughes said in a statement that the FBI was present on two streets around Cuellar’s house in Laredo “conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity.” “The FBI cannot provide further comment on an ongoing investigation,” she said.

Every three months or so, Joe Biden awakes from his slumber and does a “press conference.” The infrequency of the events is only topped by the absurdity of how they always play out. The president shows up with a binder to read from, calls on pre-selected reporters, and rarely receives a tough question (and when he does, he blows it off and moves on).
Today’s “press conference” was no different. Biden spent several minutes touting his many supposed accomplishments, sharing misleading stats and gaslighting Americans on the failures of his first year in office.

During a press conference at the White House, Biden was asked by a reporter if he believed the upcoming elections would be fair and legitimate.
“It all depends on whether or not we’re able to make the case to the American people that some of this is being set up to try to alter the outcome of the election,” Biden replied.
Biden recalled that Americans had the highest voter turnout during the 2020 election even though it was held in the middle of a pandemic.
The left has been doing its level best to pressure and intimidate Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema into supporting the elimination of the Senate filibuster, which has been an obstacle between the Democrats and their ability to pass whatever legislation they please.
The Democrat’s proverbial cannons have been pointed squarely at the two, but Manchin isn’t phased in the least. In fact, the hard-left of the Democrat party has threatened to primary Manchin, to which he effectively shrugged it off, and even welcomed the attempt.

I’m not sure what Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) thought he was going to get by pushing a vote on the Democratic effort to federalize elections (which they call ‘voting rights’) and on the filibuster.
Schumer knew that he was likely to get a “no” on the filibuster from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). They’ve only been holding fast on the subject for months. Both also were very firm on the subject in speeches — Sinema earlier in the week and Manchin earlier on Wednesday. It wasn’t happening, they said.
But Schumer decided to commit electoral suicide anyway, and he got it tonight.
