“Women are the major beneficiaries of getting rid of the hypocritical old notions about sex,” said pornographer Hugh Hefner. Though, he added, “One of the unintended by-products of the women’s movement is the association of the erotic impulse with wanting to hurt somebody.” To put it more precisely, an unintended—but entirely predictable—consequence of the sexual revolution Hefner spearheaded was that it hurt exponentially more than it ostensibly helped. Even the ancients—both East and West—knew that the unchecked proliferation of lustful passions was a recipe for social and political catastrophe

I substitute teach in high school. I can say that every student attending, except a mere handful, own or process a cell phone. Considering the average age of porn exposure is eleven, the thought of all those “red-light districts” in their pockets tells me we lost the war against cultural degradation a long time ago. The author makes an excellent point in stating in essence, that no one can be morally straight and lustful at the same time. I heard a preacher say an immoral man is incapable of making good policy decisions, referring to politicians.

America, most of the world, are here.
2 Timothy 3:1-7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, [ sexual lust ]
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I was in middle school (then referred to as junior high) when the sexual revolution took off. A few years later, the first consequence I saw was a classmate who had sneaked off to NYC to have three abortions by the time she graduated high school in 1971.
Here we are 51 years and 60 million abortions later. Those abortions are the result of unrestrained lust much of which is fueled by porn.
Speaking of the Old Testament - there is a reason why the book of Leviticus is included.

One thing is for sure. If we still had those "hypocritical old notions", we wouldn't be overwhelmed with abortions and fatherless families. 75% in some cultures.

When Clinton was president, spewing his ignorance that oral wasn't sex, stories popped up about the proliferation of all kinds of STD's in high school kids because they were doing it orally. After all, Clinton said it wasn't sex, and he wouldn't lie to us, right?
Hefner and his fellow publishers enabling the sexual revolution did so much harm to society, and our kids are paying the price in so many ways. Especially the ones in public schools who are being preyed on by the teachers in those schools.

I lust as much as anyone but have never abused a woman or had extra marital relations. It all comes down to the self. The analysis is a generalization, probably not faulty but still a generalization.

There was always pornography around but Hefner's Playboy gave it a type of sophisticated acceptance. The early version nudity could be considered mild and artistic but eventually became more revealing and less "tasteful". And it did have entertaing content other than nudity.
Larry Flynt's Hustler took nudity to a disgusting animal base level

Porn is dying the death. It's boring and putrid. Tumblr and Pornhub were gigantic and are shriveling. Part of its' draw was the fanaticism of the prudes who hated it and the lack of universal availability during more pristine or libertine times. And the women were a lot more desirable forty years ago. My grandson is 14 and I asked about his interest in it. He said, "I know where it is, but I have other ways to spend my time." The kid is as computer savvy as they come. He would rather look at a beautiful girl in a bathing suit, like back when we had the Sports Illustrated models.
We have people wanting to cut their stuff off or mate with animals, and people are concerned about raunchy heterosexual movies. The battle is won if that's the goal. The young men would rather play video games and virtual reality. Many forego relationships with women. The feminists have wrecked everything. Maybe we should haul out those old Penthouses.

No one is safe to walk the streets anymore since the progressives progressed.
