The FBI and police mounted a search for two men suspected of robbing U.S. Representative Mary Gay Scanlon of her automobile at gunpoint on Wednesday in a Philadelphia park following a meeting there with other elected officials, according to her spokeswoman and police.
Scanlon, a Democrat who represents Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District, was unharmed in the mid-afternoon carjacking, which occurred as she walked to her sport utility vehicle and was approached by two armed men believed to be 20 to 30 years of age, city police said.
The suspects demanded the keys to her vehicle and she handed them over, at which point one man drove off in her car

President Trump has been on the road with former Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly with their “History Tour.” The final stop was in Dallas, Texas, last Sunday. President Trump is obviously trying to keep himself front and center on the national stage as he preps for another run at the White House in 2024. There have been various reports gleefully reporting low attendance as though that was an indication that GOP’s turn away from President Trump was imminent. While the venues were not jam-packed like in 2020, the turnout was very respectable. In Dallas, nearly 70% of the 20,000 seats at American Airlines Center were filled.

On December 15th, 2021, a bill largely expected to pass in both the House and the Senate was blocked by Oregon’s Ron Wyden (D). The bill in question “would require companies that import products from factories in the Xinjiang province of China to provide “clear and convincing evidence” to U.S. customs authorities that the products had no ties to forced labor.
Even President Joe Biden promised he would happily sign the bill once it came to his desk. He said through White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki that doing so would “ensure global supply chains are free of forced labor.”
There’s absolutely no bad optics on this bill.

President Joe Biden blamed alternative media sources on Tuesday for convincing Americans to refuse the coronavirus vaccines.
“The unvaccinated are responsible for their own choices, but those choices have been fueled by dangerous misinformation on cable tv and social media,” Biden said.
The president spoke about the spike in coronavirus cases as a result of the omicron variant of the virus, and repeatedly urged Americans to get vaccinated.
He criticized media figures and influencers for “peddling lies” to make money off of their audience, which he argued endangered their lives.
“It’s wrong. It’s immoral. I call on the purveyors of these lies and misinformation to stop it. Stop it now!”

On Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Don Lemon Tonight,” Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) stated that Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) opposition to the Build Back Better reconciliation bill is “an example of Joe Manchin, as a white man, showing that he doesn’t care about black people, he doesn’t care about Latinos, he doesn’t care about immigrants, he doesn’t care about women, and he doesn’t care about the poor.”
Bowman said Manchin and his “special interests, his donors, and lobbyists were cutting the bill for several months. Because they did not want this bill to pass. Why? Because this bill disproportionately supports people of color. It supports people of color. It supports women.

A high school student’s hope to see his mom for Christmas became a reality thanks to an anonymous donor in Anderson County, Tennessee.
Clinch River Community School (CRCS) is located behind Anderson County High School in Clinton and is known as the district’s alternative school, WMAZ reported Wednesday.
However, the school is also a very special place, Assistant Principal Nate Stecker told the outlet.
Students may choose to attend, and some enroll because of smaller classes and the teacher-to-student ratio.
“We love these students, and we want to make sure that they have a good experience with a school setting,” Stecker explained.
Sixteen-year-old Richard Coker attends because he was drawn to the smaller classes.

Less than one year since he assumed office, Joe Biden has managed to turn his presidency into a deeply unpopular monarchy. No longer is he the genial but generally harmless buffoon who entertained most of us while he was in Congress with his mispronunciations, misquotes, and embellished tales of dubious authenticity. As a result of the 2020 presidential election that was, at best, questionable, Biden was elevated well past his ability, and he proceeded to wreck virtually everything he touched as leader of the free world.
On his first day in office, via executive order, Biden closed the Keystone pipeline for no other reason

Government is a most discouraging aspect of existence because it is a pervasive given. In the hearts of 99 percent of readers is the desire to be left alone by government. My daughter-in-law started a small charity venture several years ago, and it has grown wildly. She was originally of a liberal bent but now sees government negatively intruding into her efforts. She may not be on board the Trump train, but she has jumped over to the libertarian track.
She wants government to leave her alone, but no! Even charitable ventures must come with their own gift wrapping of red tape.

While ancillary issues like cancel culture and critical race theory further the divide between Democratic elites and American voters—and, indeed, electability—the top issue in 2022 has always been and will continue to be the economy. Pocketbook issues always matter most, especially now and regardless of the daily social media cycle.
On that score, President Biden has every reason to be concerned. Even Democrats can’t paint a rosy picture for 2022, hence the likes of NPR predicting a “red wave.”
You don’t have to be a Republican to see it. Just crunch the numbers: U.S. inflation recently surged to a nearly 40-year high, rising 6.8 percent from a year ago—

Two Kentucky infants remarkably survived being picked up by a tornado while sheltering inside a bathtub, according to their grandmother.
Clara Lutz, the babies' grandmother, said she placed 3-month-old Dallas and 15-month-old Kaden inside the tub with a blanket and a bible on Friday during a tornado warning.
"Next thing I knew, the tub had lifted and it was out of my hands," Lutz explained to WFIE-TV. "I couldn’t hold on. I just – oh my God."
Lutz was reportedly struck in the back of the head by a water tank during the storm. She searched frantically through the rubble of her house for the children after the storm had passed.

Just before 10 a.m., cars begin pulling into the parking lot of the Country Thrift Market, a sprawling former grocery store 40 miles from Pittsburgh.
Normally, folks in the area shop for gently used clothing, toys and deeply discounted home goods here. But today is different because Santa Claus is on site along with free cookies, provisions, frozen turkeys and hundreds of brand-new winter coats in every child's size.
Most of the cars and trucks that pull in have seen better days, but the children inside them look excited, seemingly unaware they are in need of charity.
The families at this event never stopped working during the pandemic, said Justin McAtee,

The electric car revolution will stall in the West if supplies of crucial battery elements like lithium fail to keep up with the forecast huge increase in demand.
As with most manufacturing and industry, China currently dominates the battery processing market too, and it is responsible for about 80% of global battery chemical refining capacity.
A possibly overlooked supply problem by the Biden administration especially considering President Biden just outlined a plan for 50% of new car purchases to be zero-emissions by 2030.
Lithium is a mineral that is key for electric car batteries. The pricing for it continues to rise in price,
