In roughly three weeks, the New York state legislature will vote on Bill A416, which will give the New York governor (in this case, the power-mad Kathy Hochul), as well as the governor’s delegates (i.e., New York’s administrative state) the power to indefinitely detain anyone the governor or her agencies deem a “significant threat to public health.” (snip) the governor has the power to “order the removal and/or detention of such a person or of a group of such persons” with just a single order (reasonably specific) to detain people “in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises....”

Ever-determined to play the apocryphal role of Salieri to Donald Trump's Mozart, Liz Cheney is making a name for herself on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Jan. 6 investigative committee.
One problem: The committee is proving itself amazingly dishonest in its ambitions to Get Trump and it's now becoming a pattern. (snip) She literally made up a claim against actual evidence that Trump didn't try to call the crowd off, and called it the story as the press fawned at her. This is amazing dishonesty brought on by bitter jealousy and ambitions of replacing Trump, as Tucker Carlson has noted.
But that was far from the only lie in this checkered committee investigation

As far as I can tell, this is what we are now supposed to believe as Americans, in this first year of the Glorious Deep State's Blessed and Eternal Reign:
Our country is so irredeemably racist that people of all races keep sneaking into the United States at breakneck speeds. Our military is so well prepared for future threats from China and Russia that it can dedicate its resources to spreading transgenderism through its ranks, pontificating about "white rage" at book clubs, firing servicemembers for not "vaxxing up," and challenging "climate change" to bouts of fisticuffs.

In November, the Salvation Army officially went woke, declaring that, after soul searching, it was calling upon all White people associated with or donating to the Salvation Army to admit their racism and repent. After an angry response from the public, the Salvation Army itself repented...of its wokeness and it walked back its message. It was too late, though. Local Salvation Army chapters are seeing 50% drops in both volunteers and donations. Get Woke; Go Broke. (snip) Antifa won’t pony up money or labor and those normal people who usually do aren’t going to this year.

Speaking in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday, President Joe Biden blamed the recent deadly tornado outbreak in Kentucky on “climate change.” Biden stated, “The fact is we all know everything is more intense when the climate is warming and obviously it has some impact here.”
Biden’s statement is laughably inept and easily disproved. All one has to do is look past the opinions, pronouncements, and hand waving and concentrate on what science and data actually say about the issues.
First, the top five deadliest tornadoes in America all occurred between 1840 and 1936. The Great Natchez Tornado on May 7, 1840, killed 317 people

The alliance of mainstream Democrats with communism is becoming obvious. I am so old that I can remember when embracing the Communist Party was a political death sentence. But Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-natch) Connecticut, already notorious for his stolen valor in claiming to have served in Vietnam, was not shy about becoming the “surprise guest” when
The Connecticut People’s World Committee presented its annual Amistad Awards on Saturday to mark the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party USA, with awards being presented to Sen. Julie Kushner, D-Danbury, Pastor Rodney Wade of Waterbury and SEIU activist Azucena Santiago.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-CT, joined the program as a surprise guest

On Sunday's Meet the Press, Chuck Todd gathered around him (snip) John Heilemann, a leftist journalist; Marianna Sotomayor, a leftist journalist; Brendan Buck, an ostensible Republican who worked for Paul Ryan and John Boehner; and Kimberly Atkins Stohr, a leftist journalist. All five were unanimous: democracy in America is over because Americans don't believe that Biden honestly won his seat in the White House. The hyperbole was thick in the air, along with more than a soupçon of hypocrisy and a huge dollop of fear. John Heilemann contends that 20 to 30 million people are lusting after political violence, which he immediately analogizes to lynching.

In “normal” times, the practice of medicine has many challenges, some from within and some from outside the profession. (snip) What changed overnight and across the board, was an anti-science attitude across all specialties to everything related to COVID. A viral infection is not something requiring government management, rather, its encounter is part of a physician’s daily medical practice. The government has seemingly accomplished what medical insurers, medical boards, and hospitals tried, but had not yet succeeded at: complete mind control of physicians. And with that, the last vestige of respect I had for my profession died.

Surprisingly little attention is being paid to a bombshell admission made by the attorneys representing the corporation formerly known as Facebook, Inc., which has now transitioned into Meta Platforms, Inc.
In a court filing responding to a lawsuit filed by John Stossel claiming that he was defamed by a “fact check” Facebook used to label a video by him as “misleading,” Meta’s attorneys assert that the “fact check” was an “opinion,” not an actual check of facts and declaration of facts. Under libel law, opinions are protected from liability for libel.(snip) at a minimum, this is a public relations disaster, revealing that their “fact checks” are not factual at all

Kamala Harris doesn't actually do anything in her job, and maybe that's more than just her laziness. Actually, with her miserable performance, and her poll numbers bottoming even Joe Biden's, she seems to be in the throes of a power struggle with the White House to hold onto her job. (snip) Harris of course is brimming with resentments, as she's indicated in her office's leaked complaints about White House racial and sexist favoritism toward Biden's transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg, the only man known whose public approval ratings are below Kamala's.

The Democrats aren’t even pretending anymore that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris like each other. Each sees the other as an enemy, although neither can do without the other. (snip) I saw the video showing the little teen-queen drama that Biden and Harris enacted at Dole’s memorial service. (snip) Biden’s and Harris’s conspicuous “I’m not talking to you!” moment was bad enough. It got worse after that. Biden, agitated, whispered something to his wife. She whispered back. Then, more agitated, he whispered again to her—at which point Biden and the missus changed sides so that Biden didn’t have to stand next to his Vice President.

Yes, Joe Biden is far and away the worst president in the history of the United States. However, the four-year Trump interlude between Obama and Biden gave the U.S. at least a little resiliency to stand against Biden’s hard-left administration. Imagine how much worse things would have been if Hillary had immediately stepped into Obama’s shoes. America wouldn’t have stood a chance. And lest you forget just what a horrible human being Hillary was, she just gave us a reminder as she spoke with Today’s Willie Geist about her decision to read her “victory speech” aloud for a MasterClass.
