Henry, an 8-year-old Boston terrier, saved his owners’ baby on Tuesday, who was sick and struggling to breath.Kelly and Jeff Dowling noticed their dog was acting strange Monday evening when he kept barging into their 9-month-old daughter’s nursery and waking her up. During an interview, Kelly explained that Henry typically goes to bed and keeps to himself. “He was head butting the door open and going into her room and standing there,” Kelly said. “And every time I shooed him away, he would go back in as soon as my back was turned.”Henry entered the nursery five times, Fox59 reported.

My sweet doggie knew, before I did, my blood sugar was dropping. She followed me all over the house and when I sat down, she sat right in front of me and stared. I asked her what her problem was, then felt the feeling of dropping blood sugar. Got some juice and when I felt it level off, she gave me an exasperated look then walked off. Oh how I miss her. Dogs are amazing.

Thank God the Mom listened to the pooch! He saved her life!
I am wondering whether the ultimate reward is to come back as a dog in a good home...

I had a Quaker parakeet that would fuss and fuss if my blood sugar dropped low. It usually was when I fell asleep in my chair. I sure miss him. Animals are wonderful..

We have 6 dogs and they’re all pretty worthless. Seriously, I can’t remember the last time (or anytime) they did something noteworthy. Oh!! The boxer killed a little snake in the yard 2 springs ago. I’m gonna read them this story and tell them need to step it up.

We had two Bostons over the years, I don't know that either of them was as sharp as this one, but they were good dogs.

Our dog, a mini-Aussie spends most of her days almost exactly half way between wherever my husband and I are. Whenever an outside door is opened she is right there checking to see who is coming in or out.
I don't understand why muslims hate them. I believe there are more dogs in heaven than humans.

True story. Spoke to a guy in a restaurant last weekend. He had a service dog (gorgeous Shepherd). He has PTSD from numerous combat deployments. He said before he got the dog his wife would mop his armpits when he had an attack coming on and then freeze the cloth. The cloth was given to the dog. That’s how the dog knew how to detect it. Amazing story.

It’s because dog spelled backwards is God!
[You knew that!]
My third Yorkie is trained to keep me in her sight as we walk 1-3 miles each day. She gets very vocal if anyone gets too close!
After four spine surgeries and triple-curve scoliosis [now no more pain even with 28 screws up 14 vertebrae, no one can tell but me].
If we didn’t walk I’d be in a wheel chair as there is nerve damage in both legs, but sandy beaches help immensely!
[It took interviews with 9 different specialists in SoCal before finding one I trusted.]
“Know and trust your physician”… was the best advice a friend shared years ago.

Re#2, there is probably a subtle change in the smell of your breath when your blood sugar gets abnormal. Dogs can instantly smell things far too subtle for us, and then learn what that unique smell means.
Sorry you lost your little friend. I still miss our cat buddy who passed away four years ago.

A dear friend, God rest her soul, had a mini poodle who would wake her up when her blood sugar was too low. He was not taught this, he learned it on his own and when person came to visit her, he would smell your breath and if you were OK he would walk away from you. He died one week after his sister died and one week before his master died, my friend. Miss all three, 2 dogs and 1 human.

Our German shepherd, Blackjack (formal name is General Pershing), is a treasure from the shelter. TK's hips make it hard for him to walk, so Blackjack keeps me safe on my sojourns through the forest or when I'm clearing fallen limbs. He's never far from me as he explores when I take a rest on one of the benches spread along the trails. Whenever I pray he comes back at sits quietly behind me. He seems to know the difference between me enjoying the view or my attention going inward. He doesn't do that when I'm just thinking. He rarely leaves my side, sleeping now on the floor beside me. TK says he "adores" me. I've never had a dog where I was the primary bond. Its a wonderful feeling. I love him more than I could ever imagine, and I've loved all my dogs so much, but there's something about Blackjack and me that is so special.

when I was a new baby..from somewhere my Dad came home with a female Boston Terrier.the pix I have of the 2 of us are precious if I do say so myself.
I wish I knew the back story about how long she lived etc. etc. I am 84 now and there is no way to find out...I have had dogs my whole life up until 5 yrs ago when my last fur baby went to the Rainbow Bridge.Mostly Maltese..permit me to brag just a bit..one of our girls won #2 of Best of Breed at Westminster I think about 2015..I have always supported shelters..now I just have more of them on my giving list.

#15 can relate to your precious Black Jack..I too had a German Shepard. she was so gorgeous..that my Dad's friend who was the President of the states kennel. club..took one look at her and said I have to take her on the show circuit. My Dad looked at him like he had 2 heads..and said..absolutely not!!!!She was my Dad's shadow...by his side, sitting in the back seat of the car..when he was at his construction sites. need less to say.when she chased a delivery man onto the hood of his truck once..and my Dad yelling..she doesn't bite....did not exactly help matters...When she died unexpectedly at the vets..1/2 hr. before we were to bring her home....I know that my Dad never really got over it..he loved her so...seeing him pull her wooden coffin, on the little wagon to the woods to be buried..is something that still brings me to trears..he looked so lost...

#17, surprise your Dear Dad for Christmas with a new pup!
After spending the last 24 hours with my second Yorkie, who died in my arms from an incurable illness, and crying the next 12 hours with her in my lap and not wanting to even get up or move… as I got my car washed on the way home, the attendant greeted me, “How are you”?
I responded, “Not good, just had to put my dear pup out of her misery.” He said he was so sorry… but you will get another, won’t you?
That was an unexpected very tough question.
But did join NorCalYorkieBreeders and flew to Louisville to find another Precious One a few months later…
The breeder had named her GoGo. She was a champion and out of respect for the breeder who was ill from Lyme Disease, kept the name, but added ‘Miss’ GoGo… after all, we are Southern!
And then as I was leading a ladies’ Bible study on the Hebrew names of God, added “Qadash,” meaning ‘chosen one.’
As we walk we can now witness, when ppl ask her name and I respond, Miss GoGo Qadash, I share that Qadash means ‘chosen one.’
As the Good Lord chose me, I chose her…
Christmas is a great time for pups and people to remember Who loves them most!
Respectfully suggest, if you have a dear friend in sorrow or sadness, consider a pup to walk and love…
And as my Pastor said when I lost mine, “Scripture is not clear if there will be pups in Heaven… but I know mine will be”!
‘God bless us, Everyone’!

Most of my dogs have been worthless, except for the endless smiles and stories they bring.
I love most dogs better than most people.
