WASHINGTON— Merrick Garland finally made his Supreme Court debut on Tuesday. Not in a justice’s black robe, but wearing the striped pants and jacket with tails reserved for government lawyers appearing before the court. The onetime high court nominee was there to take part in a tradition that dates back more than 200 years: to be introduced to the justices as the nation’s attorney general. Among the nine justices gazing down at Garland from the bench were former colleagues as well as the man ultimately appointed to the seat left vacant by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. Republicans blocked Garland from having a hearing, much less a vote,

Attorney General Merrick "Gestapo" Garland probably polished his monocle and wanted to "interrogate" the Justices with files he has collected on each one of them. He has methods to make them comply to his desires. His goons are stationed outside the building.

One of the rare attaboys I will give to the feckless McConnell is that he blocked the horrible Garland from being confirmed to the SCOTUS. The two unqualified Obama appointees who were confirmed have been bad enough, we certainly didn't need a third.

Mitch is what I call a "pop-up Republican, one of many [sadly] schysters that pop up every now and then to support exactly one conservative cause, after carefully gauging, beforehand, it's benefit to their careers vs the fallout from the usual demorat bottom feeders. We are guilty [including me] of jumping for joy when this happens, and like the stingy dad who buys the kids one ice-cream a month, we look upon the pop-up as a great guy/gal, a true conservative, bravely facing the enemy, "spear" in hand as we work together to save civilization. Balderdash.
I'm trying to quit...

Garland is the least impressive man in any room he occupies. A truly spineless man willing to do the dirty work of the Democrat Party in exchange for office. He has been hanging around for years waiting for a place.

Garland or no Garland the destruction of America as founded continues apace. Once again, however, the press reveals its treachery. How can anyone take the AP seriously as an impartial deliverer of seminal and factual information after this 5 star dinner, 2 dozen roses and perfumed pillow of an ode to the greatness of a petty tyrant, ferocious bully and liar? When this attack on our way of life, disguised as concern for the civil rights of even the most amoral and brutal among us, is over there may not be enough street lamps and rope left to deal with our internal enemies.

Interesting note in the article: "Both Garland and Prelogar wore masks as lawyers are required to while not speaking before the justices." So, lawyers are required to wear masks while in the Supreme Court, except at the times when they are most likely to transmit the virus.

Garland seems as though we would have had a bright future in pre-war Germany.

I had no idea how totally reprehensible this supreme court candidate was until the latest public exposure. This country dodged a bullet. A big one.

Whoa, he might be a 'lawyer' but he's still slime. How did he get in, slither under the door?

Kind of a nothingburger AP article about a nonevent.
Garland is still the wrong person in the wrong job. He must never get any closer to the Supreme Court than he did yesterday.
