AMSTERDAM - Dutch military police on Sunday said they had arrested a married couple who left a hotel where they were in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, and were attempting to flee the country. A false perception of truck drivers' experiences and working conditions is fueling the ongoing truck-driver shortage, according to an expert. Tra Williams, CEO of FleetForce, a Florida-based truck-driving school, told Insider: "The problem is the perception that trucking is for people of low skill, low education, who are OK with low wages. OAKLAND, Calif. -- A security guard who was shot in Oakland earlier this week has died, police said on Saturday. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul issued a state of emergency order on Friday in response to the identification of the COVID-19 omicron variant. The emergency order is intended to increase hospital capacity in New York and will last until at least Jan. 15, when it will be reassessed. A Nordstrom store in a mall in Los Angeles County was robbed Wednesday evening by thieves who used a chemical spray on a security guard to get inside the building.
