Should we always follow the science? Really?

Today's mantra is "follow the science," but do scientists always get it right? Not if one reads the story of Ota Benga. Despite the popular label of "monkey boy," Benga was a 23-year-old member of the Mbuti pygmy tribe who was put on display at the Bronx Zoo ("New York Zoological Park" for you purists) in September 1906. He had first been put on display in 1904 at the Saint Louis World's Fair.
At both the World's Fair and at the zoo, scientists were indulging their interest in Darwinian theories. It took the righteous indignation of clergy both black and white

"Follow the Science" is most unfortunate. A common misunderstanding is that Science is settled. Almost all interesting science amounts to contradictions of things known to be true. 100 Scientists objected to Einstein's Special Relativity. This did not make his theory wrong. Instead it was the 100 Scientists who were wrong. Einstein famously said that he awaited one scientist to provide evidence of error. Never happened.
History is full of challenges to what was known to be true. Such as the impossibility of powered flight. Or the impossible of a bumble bee flying. Or building a sewing machine. Or making useful rubber. Or making a non-stick surface. Or air having weight. Or fire not being one of the four elements.
Truly following the Science means to examine the experiment closely. Claim: covid vaccinations prevent infection. Examination: false. Claim: mask use prevents spread. Examination: false.
Follow the Science and get booted off of twitter and Facebook and everywhere else.

Attacking the influence of genetics on the development of humans because ignorant eugenicists like Hitler, Sanger, and even Woodrow Wilson tried to co-opt it to support their cultural biases is not an informed response. The evidence that all life including humans have changed over time is not disputable. The ability to sequence the DNA of current populations and compare it to ancient DNA extracted from human remains dated tens and even hundreds of thousands of years ago has made it possible to apply statistical techniques like principal component analysis (PCA). PCA shows how todays human genetic groups are related based on their similarities to ancient genetic groups like Neanderthals and Denisovans that are long since extinct. Even the populations in Africa that scientists long held as the origin of all modern humans have been shown to be complex mixtures of "ghost" populations that immigrated to Africa from Near East and Far East extinct populations. The latest research in human evolution is miles beyond the crude biases of the 20th century eugenicists.

Bonhöffer and Niemöller were the exceptions in Nazi Germany of clergy opposing evil and standing for truth. Very much like today the corporate "church" is impotent...drunk on 401k's, tax deductible contributions, abortion providing healthcare, tax exemptions...and not having people who hat Christ call you bad names.

Hmmm . . . I'm not sure who to believe anymore . . . seems to me, they're all liars or at at a minimum they don't know what they're talking about. Sometime ago, using talcum (baby) powder was safe, using Zantac was safe, and Paraquat was a ''scientific" way for farmers, gardners to kill weeds. A Hernia mesh procedure was a way to treat hernias. I could go on, and on. But, now it is a way for "injury lawyers" to make money . . . a ton of money. A lot in following today's science results in a lawsuit tomorrow or so it seems. Jes' sayin'. IMHO of course.

The "science" before which we are to bow and bend the knee is not a truth-seeking methodology, but a corrupt religion of atheistic doctrines.

The Russians 'followed the science' under the orders of Joseph Stalin. His favorite scientist, Tromfin Lysenko, was a believer in acquired chacteristics in keeping with marxist dogma. Acquired characteristics would create a new 'soviet man via socialism/communism. Giraffes, to Lysenko, acquired long necks because previous generations constantly reached for leaves at the top of trees. His rubbish ideas were applied to agriculture with disastrous results. Dr. Fauci is a Lysenko-like quack supported by FJB and ignorant lawyers risen to high positions. MAGA Lets Go Brandon

Much of science is unknown or wrong. Science is a search for the truth. What little is known changes. Don't follow anybody. Learn all you can and make your own decisions about what is right for you.

The point is that whatever "science" is currently popular might be just craziness. Making moral choices based on "the science" rather than what is morally, or ethically right is a serious mistake.
Lots of politicized science, like the insane ramblings of Dr. Fraud, vary from worthless to truly dangerous. Dr. Fraud is DANGEROUS and all he says should be ignored. And yet, out propaganda media and DC totalitarians bow to this dangerous fraud.

Following the science only works if you ARE NOT following the consensus. Consensus is almost always wrong and is rarely pear-reviewed by those critical of the consensus. Global Warming and almost everything around the vaccine mandate are good examples of Consensus vs. Science. Other past examples are various studies about cholesterol, Fat, Corn Syrup, Salt, And Meat vs. Vegan.
Science does not exist in an Echo Chamber. It is only real (and still open for debate) if reviewed in an honest fashion by critical eyes.

No, don't "follow the science" if that means let some scientists make decisions they are not qualified to take. It is important for everyone to either read and try to understand the scientific literature, or to keep out of the way.
It really isn't helpful for people to make blanket assertions of the "THEY ALL ARE LYING" when you have made no attempt to read what "THEY" have written.

Didn't Kurt Vonnegut write a book about how science can be used for evil? Cat's Cradle, I think. Brilliant physicists developed the atom bomb that in the wrong hands threatens the destruction of the human race. Science by itself is amoral. Using "science" as an excuse to force people to be vaccinated is on the same continuum that led the Nazis to use genetics and Darwinian theories of survival of the fittest to eliminate "undesirable" people.

Check out Copernicus (and others along the way) who proved the Earth revolves around the Sun. That's one man who was against the 'science' of the time and proved to be correct.

All science is potentially incorrect, it's just the consensus about the best conclusion we can draw at the time. As we gather more data and think carefully about it, a new consensus may emerge. When change is relatively slow to emerge, we regard the consensus as "settled science." We won't have "settled science" about COVID 19 for at least a few years into the future. Settled climate science will take at least decades.

We have been taught to believe that science provides the facts. However the facts never provide the answer to WHY such findings as they are.

You mean like the science that has proven that males have XY chromosomes, while females have XX chromosomes?!?!?!?
That science, which lie-berals call you every name in the book when you point out to them?!?!?!?

The "great scientific minds" sometimes is a collection of dangerous crackpots, and we need to keep our moral compasses polished up and in good working order.
Sometimes morality is all we have to guide correctly, when "the science" is ENTIRELY off the rails into evil.
