The judge at Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial has dismissed a count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18. The charge is only a misdemeanor, but it had appeared to be among the likeliest to net a conviction for prosecutors. There’s no dispute that Rittenhouse was 17 when he carried an AR-style semi-automatic rifle on the streets of Kenosha in August 2020 and used it to kill two men and wound a third. But the defense argued that Wisconsin’s statute had an exception that could be read to clear Rittenhouse. That exception involves whether or not a rifle or shotgun is short-barreled. CORRECTIONS*

no one wants to be blamed for starting the rioting. and short of a public hanging on the courthouse steps, I think there will be rioting. And even then, just like at a winning NBA team's home city, there will be rioting

If the police had been allowed to do their job in Kenosha, none of this would have happened.

Good news. The whole case has been a sham from the beginning, charges should never have been filed.
I have pointed out several times that my understanding of the laws in Wisconsin did not make a 17 year old in possession of a rifle a criminal act. Now, I am pleased to see the judge agrees with my understanding of the law. Having taught a number of young relatives to shoot over the last 30 years, I have always been careful to be aware of different state and federal laws concerning young people in possession of firearms, in order to always remain legal.
Now, after closing arguments, I would suggest that the judge should rule a directed verdict of 'not guilty'.
In one online legal dictionary, this is how a directed verdict is defined.
A directed verdict is a verdict by a jury based on the specific direction by a trial judge that they must bring in that verdict because one of the parties has not proved his/her/its case as a matter of law (failed to present credible testimony on some key element of the claim or of the defense). A judge in a criminal case may direct a verdict of acquittal on the basis the prosecution has not proved its case, but the judge may not direct a verdict of guilty....

Wow! No bias in this article…”and used it to kill two men and wound a third.”. No mention of self-defense. NBC is nothing more than a propaganda mouthpiece for leftists. Shun them. No, better yet tune them out..let them suffer.

Wasn't that the one count that most of the legal minds thought that maybe the prosecution had proved their case?
What a bunch of maroons.

10,000 headline stories stating "Rittenhouse was illegally carrying an Illegal assault Rifle!" being retracted/corrected?
Not gonna hold my breath...

I don't know about that, #6, but it was the one charge that may have brought a little jail time. I don't want to think about how difficult even short incarceration would be for KR.

The "people" that were rioting should be on trial. ...especially the leaders of the trash.

Makes a lot more sense than the slimeball DA NOT charging the felon with the illegal Glock 40. The missing bicep creep who told his friend he wishes he had shot Kyle when he pointed the illegal glock at Kyle. A professional terrorist in new woke America and his lying friend who admitted in court that he lied on the police report, should also be charged, but I have a feeling that loser will get his someday, one way or another. It's what they do.

Kyle should be given a medal. He probably saved several stores from looting.

I am listening to the prosecutor’s closing arguments right now. To hear him, the dead and wounded thugs were fine upstanding citizens, and Kyle is the scum of the earth. I guess he didn’t listen to his own witnesses.

The whole case should be dismissed, but at least it's a start.
