The Supreme Court on Friday upheld Maine’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, declining to halt its enforcement with a 6-3 ruling. Justices Neil M. Gorsuch, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas would have halted it.
Maine health care workers had asked the justices to block the vaccine mandate in the state, where more than 2,000 doctors, nurses and medical technicians oppose Democratic Gov. Janet Mills’ requirement to get vaccinated by Oct. 29 or get fired. They say the mandate from Ms. Mills runs afoul of federal law because it does not provide them with a religious exemption.(Snip)Before Justice Breyer refused to block the Maine mandate, Justice Amy Coney Barrett
I see little point in continuing to participate in the illusion that we have laws, governance or an electoral process in this nation. The Supremes have now given backdoor approval to the violation of one of the most fundamental of all rights - your right to choose your own medical treatments without coercion.

You can monitor how many health care institutions in Maine comply with this here:

Once upon a time, this was a representative republic, with individual rights, free enterprise. and people of principle. New England and Massachusetts were at the forefront. What happened? It has become obvious that our elation at having Amy Barrett on the S.C. was sadly wasted.

It appears the communists have won. If even the scotus wont back freedom, we may as well walk up to the edge of the trench so they wont have to drag our bodies.
I have to give the Soviet Union credit. They said they would destroy us from within and they did.
BTW, I wont be walking up to the trench. Mandate anything you want. My answer is no.

I'm with you, #4. I will not comply. There is no law, so there is nothing for me to follow. I'd rather go out on my feet with my freedom in my hand, then with a government needle filled with poison in my arm.

Huh. No wonder we are seeing in Colorado a lot of cars on I70 with Maine license plates. More of them now than New Yorkers and Californians.

IowaDad, just go away. The country is falling apart, we really don't need you here. Go to a website where they appreciate your bias.

Gutless cowards all of them that upheld it. One more huge disappointment in the Trump appointed clowns.

The Supreme Court did not "uphold" anything. It declined to involve itself at this time. People will need to be fired first, then let the games begin. It appears the court is setting the stage to hear a definitive case, but these are issues of injunctions brought to the court. When will people learn?

I used to hope DeSantis would run for president but i have evolved in my opinion through knowing federal and most state elections are completely illegitimate and not to be participated in or given any consent to DeSantis will be needed and elected as the first president of the new Republic of Texas let the communists have the ussa and good riddance

And we find that Kavanaugh and Barrett are as conservative as Earl Warren.

2cents. The SC rules against the US Constitution. Maine is not the US. The SC does not rule against the Maine Constitution. I am actually surprised that it was not 9-0. When the mandates become a federal issue the SC may very well stay the mandates.

The Supreme Court declining to consider a case involving a law isn't the same thing as the Supreme Court "upholding" a law.

Really pushing the envelope. How much more of this will we see before the un-vaxed/unemployed decide they've had enough and have nothing to lose?

I'd like to read the opinions of legal experts who have read the ruling to get a feel for what is actually going on here. I haven't seen it.
I *suspect* the thinking is that if these *employees* don't want to take their employer's mandated vaccine, they are free to find another job.
The solution to this is a work stoppage. Every employee walks out the door, vaccinated or not. Will it happen? Probably not, but if every doctor walked out of a hospital, it would be like every airline pilot walking off the job. The airlines changed their tune very quickly when faced with that option.
The Federal government mandating that all citizens take the vaccine would *have* to become a civil rights issue, which is why the Joebama admin is dancing around issuing a universal mandate.

Comey Barrett keeps her record pristine, voting with the left on every single question. I want to know who is picking the SC nominees for the Republicans. Is it Democrats? I have very strong suspicions that is the case.

They are forcing our hand, they have removed all peaceable means of rectifying bad policy and law. They also have 24/7 surveillance of almost all of us and sophisticated weapons systems we cannot begin to compete with. What they do not have is faith in the one, all powerful God. It may just be that God's wrath, which is certainly warranted, is about to be unleashed. If it is His will that we be spared, they are no match for Him.

For those who are saying wait for people to lose their jobs so the court can then act, what does it say that the conservatives Gorsuch, Alito, and Thomas voted to halt it or hear the case and the leftists on the court chose the opposite?

#26 - No harm has accrued anyone at this point, and may not ever. Courts don't enjoin "threats". You can't sue the guy driving behind you becasue he might ram you at the next stop light. Some think the affected employers will enjoy applying these mandates. Sure, if firing up to half their workers is profitable. There are very high costs for them involved here, too, not to mention loss of services that benefit the community. Classic case of one cutting of her nose to spite her face. For "originalists", there are plenty of people here waiting for the Court to intervene and act with no basis.
What would I say to Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch? Stay tuned, fellows. A case is likely coming your way...but you already know that.

Pass a federal law requiring that everyone be vaccinated against Kung Flu, attach a 5000 dollar penalty for failure to comply, and call the penalty a tax.
Chief Judas John Roberts, applying his peculiar brand of legal reasoning as established with Obolacare, will uphold the law. citing the constitutional authority granted to the federal government to impose an income tax.
