This week, we take a focused look at how the West’s most destructive superstition can grip the mind of even the most strident “rationalist,” and what that means for those of us who don’t partake in the séance.
Penn Jillette, the tall half of the hugely successful magician duo Penn & Teller, is one of the entertainment industry’s most outspoken atheists. For decades, Jillette has smugly condemned all manner of religious, psychic, and pseudoscientific irrationality. He also has a fan base on the right, because as a self-described libertarian, Jillette’s often mused about how “taxation is theft” and government compulsion is bad.
Penn Jillette: a man with no gods, including government.

I am not sure which is more pathetic, his atheism or his indulgence of his daughter's foolishness.

I'm not sure what the answer is when a child decides they're the opposite sex since the medical profession is all in on transgenderism. Jumping into (and reinforcing) their self-delusion is definitely not the answer. Under 18 is a challenge but maybe the best approach is "hands off," and let them work it out themselves, but refusing to play along is step one. If they're over 18, I'd definitely tell them I'm not calling a girl a boy (or vice versa), not paying for puberty-suppression drugs or gender reassignment surgery (even if I have to take them off my health insurance) and if they don't like it, they're welcome to leave my house. I've known families with mentally-ill children who wreak havoc for years (much like alcoholics and drug addicts). Tough love is the only thing that seems to work - if only to give the family peace when they're gone.

Penn Jillette wrote some of the liner notes for the recently released Trouble No More, a two disc collection of concert dates from 1979-1981, Bob Dylan's evangelical years. Jillette admitted that Dylan's three Christian albums (Slow Train Running, Saved, Shot of Love) were a big disappointment after everything between 1961 and 1975. It was different. That's for certain.
But recently Penn heard these four decades old tapes of Dylan and his incredible back up singers and band, and everything but the spirit of the enterprise became abundantly clear to him. You're half the way there, Penn. Have some faith. We're praying for you to get saved.

He really has no set beliefs. So when something new comes along and upsets his applecart, he's quick to go along with it.

Please tell me that I am not the only one who's figured out that the way out of this pronoun morass is simply to refer to the trans-, non-binary, whatever person in the third person by using their chosen name, in this case referring to Gillette's daughter in every grammatrical context simply as "Moxie Crimefighter." There, problem solved! (Parenthetically, I might add that 35 years ago in Las Vegas, I spent an afternoon on the gun range and an evening dinner with Mr Gillette and found him a most affable, agreeable and intelligent man. Shame what's happened to that wonderful mind.)

This generation of children have been overindulged and worshiped. They will be frightening leaders but also easy to defeat by a strong enemy. Not sure which it it will be or which is worse.

It looks like Moxie wears the pants in that family. I’m sure glad I never wasted money going to one of Penn’s shows. I wonder what his little partner thinks.

The only thing this proves is that, little crimefighter or whatever her name is, is a spoiled brat wanting attention. I've known girls who were considered tomboys growing up. Five years later at my high school reunion, they were nothing like they were in school. All they had left was their confidence. Only now it was attached to a much nicer person with a better personality who looked better than their high school self.

Any dingbat who renames themself to "Moxie Crimefighter" is at least six bricks shy of a load to start with. So, going even farther into delusional fantasyland with "I'm a man" sounds like the expected next step in the decent in to madness.
We used to put these people in the mental wards and see if they might possibly regain their grip on reality. Now, we go along with their insanity and proclaim them sane....and all the normal people are proclaimed to be "haters" for not going along with the gag.
No, I won't play your game of "let's pretend". Look how badly going along with the "let's pretend that my name is Moxie Crimefighter" went off the rails.

Moxie’s friends changing their sex (not gender) pronouns day to day is all the proof you need that this is a fad. A dangerous heinous fad, but a fad none the less.

And so, in a breath of stupidity, Penn has erased a lifetime. I cannot in good conscience believe or trust anything he says. Even the most - to religious people - hedonist person can and does make truthful observations. I thought of Penn that way. Never more.
