The federal vaccine mandate will soon apply to Justice Department employees, contractors and visitors to its buildings, but one group it won’t apply to is illegal immigrants showing up for their deportation case hearings. The migrants are deemed an exception to President Biden‘s mandates because they are seeking a public benefit or service. That means they will not have to prove they’ve been vaccinated or show a negative COVID-19 test from the previous three days. Their attorneys are also exempt. Those exemptions aren’t sitting well with immigration judges and other employees who will have to interact with the unvaccinated. They say allowing in unvaccinated and untested people defeats the purpose

GOP Rep. Jim Banks hit back after Rachel Levine became the nation's first transgender four-star admiral, calling her a 'man' and a disappointment for 'little girls.' The Indiana Republican's remarks drew pushback. Levine, a Biden appointee, was sworn in as head of US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, which made her the nation's highest-ranking transgender official.(Snip)'The title of first female four-star official gets taken by a man,' Banks tweeted in response to the news. 'Calling someone that was born and lived as a man for 54 years the first 'female' four-star officer is an insult to every little girl who dreams of breaking glass ceilings

Nearly three months after revealing that her youngest child is transgender, Jamie Lee Curtis sat down for an interview with her daughter Ruby about the 25-year-old’s transition and journey to self-acceptance. The “Halloween” star, 62, admitted on Wednesday that “learning new terminology and words” has been a challenge at times, but she is determined to put in the work for Ruby.
“It’s speaking a new language,” she told People. “I am new at it. I am not someone who is pretending to know much about it. And I’m going to blow it, I’m going to make mistakes. I would like to try to avoid making big mistakes.”

The White House released its plans on Wednesday for vaccinating 28 million children between ages five and 11 against COVID-19.
In the next few weeks, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to decide whether or not to authorize Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine in younger kids in the next few weeks. If the jab is authorized, the Biden administration's plan to immunize kids will look very different than the campaign to inoculate adults.
Child-size vials will be sent to providers across the country that can be kept in refrigerators along with smaller needles necessary for injecting young kids.(Snip)The White House is also preparing to mobilize

The man accused of raping a stranger on a metro Philadelphia train full of bystanders who cops say stood and filmed is a Congolese national present in the US illegally, according to a new report.
Fiston Ngoy, 35, was arrested and charged in the horrifying attack on Wednesday on board a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) train near the suburb of Upper Darby.
Ngoy entered the US on a student visa in 2012, but remained after the visa was terminated in 2015, and was protected from deportation by the immigration system despite multiple convictions.
Court records show that Ngoy had multiple arrests and two misdemeanor convictions, one for controlled substances

Washington—A Navy report has concluded there were sweeping failures by commanders, crew members and others that fueled the July 2020 arson fire that destroyed the USS Bonhomme Richard, calling the massive five-day blaze in San Diego preventable and unacceptable.
While one sailor has been charged with setting the fire, the more than 400-page report, obtained by The Associated Press, lists three dozen officers and sailors whose failings either directly led to the ship’s loss or contributed to it. The findings detailed widespread lapses in training, coordination, communication, fire preparedness, equipment maintenance and overall command and control.(Snip)It slammed commanders of the amphibious assault ship for poor oversight,

In-N-Out Burger has reopened after being shut down last week over its refusal to enforce San Francisco’s vaccine mandate, telling the city that “we refuse to become the vaccination police.” The San Francisco health department closed Thursday the hugely popular burger joint’s Fisherman’s Wharf location, the only one in the City by the Bay, over its failure to check the COVID-19 vaccination status of customers before allowing them entry, as the city requires. The fast-food restaurant is back in business for takeout and drive-through orders, but indoor dining remains closed, according to KRON-TV.(Snip)The statement continued: “We fiercely disagree with any government

An Amazon delivery driver went to extreme lengths to record girls and women using a bathroom at a Massachusetts outlet mall, going as far as disguising himself as a woman and attaching a pen camera to his sneakers to secretly film his victims, authorities said Tuesday.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki came under fire on Tuesday after joking that it’s a “tragedy” some people may have to wait longer for their treadmill to arrive amid the supply-chain crisis that has disrupted global economies. “The tragedy of the treadmill delayed,” Ms. Psaki laughed when pressed about the supply-chain crisis during her daily press briefing. Some on Twitter savaged Ms. Psaki for her remarks. “Stores are running out of food, medical supplies, supply driving inflation but Pskai reduces real world problems down to the example of a treadmill for a chuckle. Hoo boy,” wrote conservative talk show host Dana Loesch.

Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas has tested positive for Covid-19, throwing off his plans to travel to Colombia with Sec. of State Antony Blinken. 'Secretary Mayorkas tested positive this morning for the COVID-19 virus after taking a test as part of routine pre-travel protocols. Secretary Mayorkas is experiencing only mild congestion; he is fully vaccinated and will isolate and work at home per CDC protocols and medical advice. Contact tracing is underway,' DHS spokesperson Marsha Espinosa said in a statement.
Blinken will now travel to Quito, Equador on Tuesday and Bogotá, Colombia without the DHS head to meet with President Iván Duque and Vice President-Foreign Minister Marta

The White House tried to make light Tuesday of The Post’s exposing the secret, nighttime flights that President Biden’s administration is using to ferry unaccompanied migrant kids from the Texas border region—snarking to a reporter they were merely “earlier than you might like.” During her daily news conference, White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked why three planes were spotted by The Post landing after dark last week in Westchester County, New York, and Jacksonville, Florida. Psaki improbably disputed the notion that the flights were taking place “in the middle of the night.” “We are talking about early flights. Earlier than you might like to take a flight,”

Tired of having Texas bear the brunt of the border crisis, Sen. Ted Cruz is proposing a different idea: Ship newly arrived illegal immigrants to deep blue territories like New England or California, and see how they handle it. He even proposed putting one of the new ports of entry for processing illegal immigrants in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, which is President Biden’s vacation retreat.(Snip)Among the 13 locations are Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; and North Hero, Vermont—that latter location picked, Mr. Cruz said, because it is the summer home of Sen. Bernard Sanders. Biden administration officials have acknowledged that Texas facilities have been overwhelmed by the unprecedented
Comments:
This is a cute Republican zinger. The Migrants will burden the taxpayers and undermine wages wherever they are, and Texas would be a lot less of a hotspot if Gov. Abbott gained control of the border as he promised to do back on June 1.
