Washington — Millions of retirees on Social Security will get a 5.9% boost in benefits for 2022. The biggest cost-of-living adjustment in 39 years follows a burst in inflation as the economy struggles to shake off the drag of the coronavirus pandemic.
The COLA, as it’s commonly called, amounts to $92 a month for the average retired worker, according to estimates released Wednesday by the Social Security Administration. That marks an abrupt break from a long lull in inflation that saw cost-of-living adjustments averaging just 1.65% a year over the last 10 years.

They think this will fix everything. Nope.

That should do wonders to deplete Socialist Security even faster. The screeching from CONgress should soon begin in earnest, while nothing at all will really be done. Lots of morons (like Chucky) will run from camera to camera wringing their hands, and whining about the evil Republicans that only want to kill SS and deprive granny of the two cans of cat food she must live on each month.
Print a few more trillion, and we can probably get the COLA up to 20% next year. Of course by that time, a gallon of gas will be $15.00.

People got additional unemployment benefits to sit home, welfare recipients got extra cash due to high food prices and seniors got zip. This is a start, but hardly enough.

Things ( internal polling )must be really bad for the dems to be doing this. Buying the votes of the seniors that weren't killed off by the virus.

Won't this just create more inflation? Too much money chasing too few goods.

Just wait, #6, at the rate things are going, before long, you will need to put the prefix “hyper” in front of the i-word. Then things will really get interesting.

Whoop D Do. SS COLA increases by 5.9%. Medicare fees increase by 6%. Haven't been this excited since Quid Pro Joe told us he'd saved us 16 cents on the cost of food for the 4th of July.

Inflation is much higher that the government liars say. Wait until supply shortages and a panic buying cycle kicks in this winter, combined with rising home heating costs. Grab a tight rein. Let’s go Brandon!

Yup, a big $60/mo for me. That should cover the 25%+ increase in groceries and gas.

And Hunter Biden was getting $60,000 a month from Burisma, Biden earned $18,000,000.00 last year, and Pelosi gains millions through insider trading. What a great country!

I'm going to wait to hear from my supplemental insurance with a letter notifying me of that amount of increase in premiums. Wait for it besides cost increase of groceries and gasolines I'll be in the negative zone soon.
Let's go Brandon you doing a great job you stupid buffoon. I wish I could be like artist Hunter and sell paintings at exploded prices to suckers. I'll die old and broke like the rest in the third worlds.

The COLA is increased by a supposedly non-partisan panel every year and the demented puppet in the WH has no control. If it were up to him he would spike the increase except for ‘people of color’.
