Guns don’t kill people, people kill people

One of the implied promises behind the Democrats’ endless (and escalating) efforts to destroy the Second Amendment and disarm Americans is the promise that murder will become a thing of the past—and, if not all murders, at least mass murders, involving more than one victim. However, in Florida, one man managed to kill three people with a baseball bat and a knife, as well as seriously injured another victim. The problem wasn’t the weapons; it was that a man angry after a fight with his supervisor started killing innocents with the weapons he had at hand.

A police friend told me that if an attacker with a knife gets closer to you then seven yards, he could fatally attack you in a second and a half, leaving almost no time for evasive or self-defensive action.
In a martial arts demonstration I saw a sixth level black belt utilizing two ornate daggers whirled in continuous figure-8s as the master moved about silently on the mat. This must have been the deadliest individual I've ever seen. When I asked my Tang Soo Do instructor--a fifthdan himself--what to do if faced with such an attacker. He said, "Run!" Yes, a firearm could be an effective antidote to the knife or bat wielder, but not if the attacker gets closer than about seven yards. Better not miss. Distance is your friend. Try to keep it.

"Take everybody's guns away and hide them in the sand."
Nope. Guns kill people. Ban guns. Knives kill people. Ban knives (England).
SUVs kill people. Ban SUVs.
While you are at it, ban human nature.
Produce mind-numbed robots who always do as they are told.
End progress forever. Look up With Folded Hands, by Jack Williamson.
Ridiculous.

FTA:
"The thing about the Second Amendment is that it's premised on the belief — which still holds true in America — that there are more good people than there are bad people. That means that an armed population is disproportionately likely to use guns to save, not take, lives." And researchers have consistently found that between 500,000 and 2,000,000 times each year a firearm saves a life. This has been re-tested for decades, and the results always fall into that range. Ms. Widberg is absolutely correct.
Re: #1's 7 yards for a knife, this is a fairly well known defensive benchmark. Numerous firearms instructors have shown that if a person with a knife is at or less than 21 ft or 7 yards away from a person with a gun, in hand, not even in a holster, the knife wielder will get in at least one good thrust before he can be stopped by being shot. It's basically due to reaction time, with the attacker having the 1/4 second or more advantage.
A good person with a gun has a far better chance of defending themselves than without a gun. Alertness, skills and training all help.

Guns don't kill people, but husbands who get home early do.

I’m reminded of that video we saw a few months ago of one black teenaged girl trying to kill another black teenaged girl with a knife. She would have succeeded had it not been for a policeman with a gun.

Years ago 2 black thugs demanded that a Eastman school of music student hand over his iPhone to them while he was waiting in line to buy tickets outside the Eastman Theater. He refused and one of the thugs picked up a chunk of broken brick that was on the ground and used it to bash the student in the head. He died on the spot. I often think how that student might still be alive if I had been in line and saw what was happening. Even in NY state there are almost 100,000 concealed pistol carry permit holders. They are a small island in a sea of violence and murder in the city of Rochester, but they are there. Unfortunately for that student and everyone who misses him, no permit holder was there to step up and confront two murdering criminals. ALL of the murder and mayhem in the entire state is cultivated and in fact encouraged by decades of evil rats and their policies, in government at every level.

A gun used to stop this guy would have saved lives. That argument goes right over the heads of socialists. It's like for them two plus two doesn't equal four. Yet they expect everyone who doesn't think like they do to bow down to their superior intelligence. I really do believe there is some form of genetic make up in liberals that makes what is called common sense to be eliminated from their thinking.

Apparently not probable inner city Democrat voters, especially if they can be classified in accordance with Democrat identity based political schemes as being minorities. That’s why the Democrats alway refer to the aggravated assaults and murders perpetrated by such criminals as being gun crimes or gun violence insinuating that a gun caused the victim to be shot and not their prospective voter.

Forgot to mention that if faced with a maniac waving a knife seven yards away, and I have a firearm out and up, I'll take my chances every day of the week. One, I'm going to shoot at the first movement, not step, at the first move toward me. Two, I'm not going to stand still. Three, the red dot is all that matters. Once he is painted, it won't matter what angle the gun hand is because I'm not aiming, I'm painting the dot on target. Another reason a small concealed handgun with manageable recoil is a good idea.
Given all that, if there is an exit and no one else is in danger, I would take the exit. The amount of legal issues and general bad karma that would follow any killing, even justified, would be things to avoid if at all possible.
