A rather remarkable situation in San Diego that we could see play out in the rest of the nation. The police union, The San Diego Police Officers Association (SDPOA), asked their members about the vaccination mandate. 65 percent of the respondents said they would consider quitting the force if the city were to impose a requirement. However, an alarming 45 percent said they would rather be fired than comply with the mandate.
The SDPOA has 1,971 members. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, half of those officers are not vaccinated. If that half of the entire police department were to be fired

The rhetoric about and treatment of children over the past 18 months has flung open a window into the soul of America’s ruling class. As Nelson Mandela warned us, “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way it treats its children.” To those constructing the new health tyranny, children post no threat and can be treated as things, not people.
The budding tyranny we face was best described by C. S. Lewis:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.

Friday:
I am reeling. Last night, as I have been doing for months, I did an episode of “my” internet show, “The World According to Ben Stein.” It’s a panel show lasting about an hour. The producer is my pal, Judah Friedman. None of us gets paid a dime. We talk about politics and economics and sometimes about internet dating (although I am happily married and don’t do internet dating). It’s a very small little enterprise, and we are all skeptical about everything.
Until last night you could watch it on YouTube and Rumble and many other sites. Last night we talked about (among many other things) the Covid vaccine mandate.

A far-left California teacher with a hammer and sickle tattoo and an apparent affinity for Antifa and brutal communist dictators will be fired after bragging on video that he was working to radicalize his students "further and further left," his employer announced Wednesday.
In a letter, the Natomas Unified School District Superintendent Chris Evans wrote that Gabriel Gipe, a social studies teacher at Inderkum High School, would be terminated after Project Veritas found Antifa and Mao Zedong posters in his classroom and recorded him talking about indoctrinating his students.
"I have 180 days to turn them into revolutionaries," he says in the recording.

A California teacher who went viral after bragging in a TikTok video that she had taken down the American flag in her classroom because it made her feel "uncomfortable" and suggested that her students should say the Pledge of Allegiance to a rainbow flag has been removed from her classroom.
"She has been removed from the classroom and placed on administrative leave, as our investigation continues," Newport Mesa Schools spokesperson Annette Franco confirmed to Fox News Wednesday.
The teacher was identified as Kristin Pitzen of Newport Mesa Schools in Orange County.

Although August 15, 2021, will forever live in infamy as the date the Taliban reconquered Afghanistan, for over 13 centuries that date was famous for another event -- Constantinople’s defeat of the caliphate, August 15, 718. While these two events separated by exactly 1,303 years are vastly different in nature -- not least that in 718 Islam lost, while in 2021 it won -- they both confirm one irresistible point that the confident West should take to heart: the tenacity of Islamic jihad -- this relentless snake of war that always bides its time, even if by remaining coiled for many centuries, before striking.

During an interview regarding the recent suicide attack on Kabul airport, a former Navy SEAL quipped that no one making military decisions for the United States seems to have read a history book. Lack of knowledge, he implied, is partly why America is suffering a humiliating and unconscionable defeat in Afghanistan.
Here, then, is a short skeletal history of Muslim-Christian relations beginning with Islam’s founding in 622 AD by Muhammad, an Arab military leader intent on unifying the Arab world and conquering the rest. The lessons learned might put us on the right path forward.
Muhammad died in 632 and, soon thereafter, his followers began Muslim military advances into the Christian Levant.

The news is so depressing lately that it takes nerves of steel to open the newspaper, turn on the TV, or visit an internet news site. However, there is good news out there if you know where to look.
First Item: Taiwan has been jolted awake by the Afghanistan debacle! For months, the Republic of China (Taiwan) has been nervously watching The People’s Republic of China (China) amass and marshal its land and naval assets in a continuing threat to try to conquer the island through military force.
President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) has recently remarked that Taiwan must become stronger, writing on Facebook, “I want to tell everyone that Taiwan’s only option

If you're over 50, you might remember occasionally seeing small children throw temper tantrums in public, 25 or 30 years ago, and wondering what those kids would be like when they grew up.
Well, now you know.
The problem is twofold. First, we Baby Boomers raised a generation of selfish, entitled brats. (I do not include my own children in that description, and if that seems hypocritical and self-serving — well, you don't know my kids.)
Second, in their entitled brattiness, an alarming percentage of that generation — the Millennials — has embraced socialism.

One of the most effective ways for the MSM to shut down an inquiry into misconduct is to say it is all a conspiracy theory. Besides avoiding an unwanted discussion, the charge also invites scrutiny of the "theorist" instead of the issue itself. Notice how quickly some even start off saying something like "I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but..." Expecting their reaction, we have become almost trained to do this.
But are there really no big conspiracies?
It has been claimed that the phrase "conspiracy theory" was invented by the government to discourage the questioning of official explanations for important events, especially the JFK assassination.

The level of incompetence apparent in the Afghanistan withdrawal has been breathtaking. Even a smart 12-year-old, after all, would know that you have to evacuate American civilians and vulnerable allies before removing your military personnel. This reality has given rise to staggering speculation, that, for example, the powers-that-be desired this messy outcome. Some have even theorized that the goal, by hate-America-first Deep Staters, is to diminish the United States.
But what if the goal is actually to damage the Joe Biden administration, something that’s already a fait accompli?
What if some people who pull strings were so angry about our Afghan exit that they said, “Okay, you want a withdrawal?

The disaster that is the withdrawal from Afghanistan coupled with other innumerable debacles that Joe Biden has singlehandedly precipitated in just seven months should not come as a surprise to anyone who has paid attention to his career. His fifty years as a politician is littered with a litany of failures due to unforced errors, countless flip-flops, plagiarism, cupidity, mendacity, and demagoguery all brought about by an overweening sense of infallibility and egocentrism.
Yet he was chosen by the current ruling class to be the figurehead in their devious scheme to defeat Donald Trump by any means possible in the 2020 election. Their hubris is their downfall
Comments:
A twenty five year old friend expressed concern for the stress and other problems that masks put on small children.
This is broader than that, and very worrisome.
