Why Did Michael Byrd Fire Just A Single Shot?

I ask this question for two reasons:
I have seen enough videos and read about enough officer-civilian interactions to know that the act of subduing a lethal threat requires several rounds.
If an intruder entered my home and threatened my wife and child, I would shoot until I was able to ensure the target was immobilized.
As to the first statement, there are plenty of examples of police officers firing multiple shots at a suspected threat. In the past year, the American public has been thoroughly able to parse through the shootings of criminals like Breonna Taylor and Antonio Brown, to name just two examples.

We know he is a scared coward; possibly he just pulled the trigger reflexively. How will we ever find out when he is a member of Pelosi's protected class ? Just another D.C. sc*mb*g.

The guy was scared sh**less and fired at a woman he could have merely pushed back.
If the Congress wants cowards like this on their Police force, then that is what they deserve.
Capitol Police are nothing but hired security guards anyway, they do damn little real police work, and it appears that some of them are cowards.

I've been calling this since January 7th. They had to have a dead body and that dead body was supposed to be a cop. Unfortunately, Ms. Babbit got in the way and was killed by accident instead.

After listening to him cite his fumbling rehearsed defense of his actions, I'd have to guess his keepers only permitted him to possess a single bullet at any given time. He appears to be one of those "guys with a gun" who fantasizes about shooting someone. We had a couple on SAPD when I was there. Dangerous. Ashley Babbit R.I.P.

Bad trigger discipline, he raised/aimed his weapon and it went off because he had his finger on the trigger

It was an assassination.
The Dems needed a violent death for their narrative. That the Jan 6, was a violent inserrection. The other deaths from trampling and heart attacks couldnt be predicted, so they made sure, there was 'one' vilent death, to help their narrative.
Ashli, just happened to be the one who entered their sites.
Byrd was promised immunity if he did it. If things turn around and it looks like he will be held accountable, expect him to die like Epstein in his cell.

Those behind the "insurrection" believed their own propaganda about the protesters. They thought that one shot would set off the violence they needed for their "Reichstag Fire" to work.

Another problem with the Capitol police firing at people is that they are not in uniform. Maybe the protesters would have noticed he was pointing a gun at them if he were a cop in uniform. Also, why was he hiding in the corner? If he had stepped out and pointed the gun, Ms Babbit no doubt would have climbed back down.

Don't ignore the possibility that it was "unintentional". While he states he relied upon his training...other pictures and video footage of him clearly show he had the habit of his finger being on the trigger when in a ready position, total lack of finger discipline, as well as directional discipline, there are scenes of him pointing his weapon at the backs of other officers and even a congressman with finger on the trigger. NO training teaches such behavior, and real training takes the gun from anyone who does it, or at the very least takes the bullets. When I was in the Whitehouse/Capitol Hill the weapons of choice were sig 226-229 and M9/Beretta all DA/SA with a decock when/if you pulled the trigger it HAD to be "On Purpose" it was nearly impossible to "accidentally" fire. Since that time Glock and other "trigger safety" weapons have become popular and unintentional discharges have become fairly common. EVERY UD I personally know of was a Glock style trigger, many of those by Cops other highly trained individuals. The ONLY UD I have had in 40 years of carrying a sidearm was a Glock.(When they 1st came out, Other guys were getting them, I borrowed one to try it, verrrry easy to shoot well, comfortable, light to carry...I ordered one. I was about 100rnds into a draw/Fire exercise on a line with a dozen SS/FBI agents when it went BANG! while I was holstering, put a round into the ground by my heel. Range officer, said "Oh, Glock huh? Been seeing a LOT of that lately". I went back to my 226, sold the Glock.)

Byrd is Pelosi's assassin.
It's just that simple. They needed a dead Trump supporter and she was selected to be murdered by this thug.

'nuther thing....I have NEVER seen a really good cop that was a "Clothes Horse/Dandy". This guy is a $1000suit, french cuffs, designer watch, $200 Tie guy. Better dressed than MOST of the congresscritters he 'serves'. Likely sees himself as a "Peer" not a protector. A palace prince-ling with a carry permit.

Ashli was NOT climb through that relatively small, sharp-edged hole that had been broken in the glass door pane. She was very tiny. She couldn’t see over the men who stood around those doors, so she found one who would boost her on his back. One witness said she wanted to photograph the Speaker’s Lobby with her cell phone. She’d have been insane to even try to climb through that hole in the glass. The bottom piece of the glass pane was still fixed below the hole. The DC medical examiner’s report said she was shot in the “anterior left shoulder”. She’d have been shot at rather an extreme angle. There are several major blood vessels in that area - the subclavian artery, the subclavian vein, that carry blood to and from the heart to the arm and hand. It can be a fairly rapid fatal event, based on what I have read. It requires immediate trauma surgery because of the blood vessels, bones and muscles involved.
At most this coward saw her behind the hole in the glass. He lurched forward from his hidng place, gun in hand, finger on trigger, and immediately shot her. One move that took seconds. She pitched backward all the way to the hallway floor.
He did not “nick” an artery in her neck. That would have produced an arterial gusher. Didn’t happen. The blood from her mouth more than likely came from some involvement of her lung.

Byrd was a nervous squirrel in that interview, eyes darting about. Much of the time they went off to his right…reading something scripted on a teleprompter? Probably. Renowned defense attorney and law professor Jonathan Turley says that, in this interview, he effectively shot down both of the “investigations” that cleared him.

I would think that a warning shot would have been fired into the ceiling or at least over the heads of the crowd, not directly into it. #7 nailed it. Bottom line - the fat affirmative action moron missed.
