Odessa (Ukraine) - The remains of up to 20,000 people have been found in Ukraine's southern city of Odessa as excavations continue at a site believed to be a mass grave of victims of Stalin's Terror, historians said Monday. According to various estimates, the bones of between 5,000 and 20,000 people lie in the ground, making it one of the largest mass graves unearthed in Ukraine so far. They were discovered this month close to Odessa airport after exploratory works started as part of expansion plans. "As of today, 29 graves have been discovered. US contract working dogs have been abandoned at the Kabul airport after the last American flight left on Monday. Joshua Hosler, President of Veteran Sheepdogs of America, is frantically trying to rescue the dogs that have been used and left behind in the Taliban controlled country after the Department of Defense ordered that they be left behind. Dr. Robin R. Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane, has issued a statement condemning the cruelty. “I am devastated by reports that the American government is pulling out of Kabul and leaving behind brave U.S. military contract working dogs to be tortured and killed at the hand of our enemies.

She was supposed to be a major player in the Biden administration after being lauded as an historic, consequential figure in her role as America’s first female vice president.
“Harris Has the Potential To Change the Face of U.S. Politics,” read a November 2020 Politico headline that echoed many others at the time. And not long after Joe Biden was sworn in as the nation's 46th president, the administration insisted she should be known as her boss's equal. “Please be sure to reference the current administration as the ‘Biden-Harris Administration’ in official public communications,” a March directive read, emphasizing Biden-Harris in boldface.

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken demanding answers on why a U.S. military official allegedly stopped Americans and Afghan allies from evacuating Afghanistan at the Kabul airport.
Johnson said he has heard reports indicating “a group of over 400 individuals including U.S. citizens were turned away from the airport” by “the commander of the 82nd Airborne Brigade … who told them to get back on their buses and turn around because ‘the rescue was over.’”
“It is not clear what happened to the Americans and the other individuals after they left the airport,” Johnson wrote.

During an interview regarding the recent suicide attack on Kabul airport, a former Navy SEAL quipped that no one making military decisions for the United States seems to have read a history book. Lack of knowledge, he implied, is partly why America is suffering a humiliating and unconscionable defeat in Afghanistan.
Here, then, is a short skeletal history of Muslim-Christian relations beginning with Islam’s founding in 622 AD by Muhammad, an Arab military leader intent on unifying the Arab world and conquering the rest. The lessons learned might put us on the right path forward.
Muhammad died in 632 and, soon thereafter, his followers began Muslim military advances into the Christian Levant.

When it comes to the media, Americans’ overall trust has been waning for some time, as numerous surveys show. But the decline isn’t uniform among all groups. Even before the recent crisis in Afghanistan, which brought renewed criticism to the media, a clear split over the trustworthiness of the U.S. media emerged, data from our latest I&I/TIPP Poll confirms.
That includes a wide divergence of opinion by gender, race, region, political ideology, schooling, and even income, showing a nation divided not just by its politics and ideology, but by how it views its basic news and opinion sources.

European Union nations voted Monday to reimpose limits on non-essential travel from the United States amid the dramatic increase in domestic COVID cases.
While a majority of EU ambassadors decided to reimpose the restrictions, it is up to the discretion of each member state whether to adopt the recommendation. To waive the travel cutbacks, countries can require visitors to present verification of vaccination as a condition of entry.
The EU’s action represents a setback to the hospitality and tourism industries, which will likely suffer from reduced demand after the new directive, if most European nations follow suit.

Some of the final US flights left Kabul on Monday despite the airport coming under fire from five ISIS rockets and as the threat of another terrorist attack grows stronger by the minute. Five rockets were launched at Hamid Karzai Airport on Monday morning from a sedan parked nearby. ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the attack on Monday morning, saying they used Katyusha rockets against the US troops still on the ground. No one is believed to have been killed in the attack. The US Army's C-RAM missile defense system could be heard firing shots at some of the rockets but it took out just one of the five rockets -

There was some discussion on Twitter recently about whether President Joe Biden nodded off during an Oval Office meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. After the talk spread, some journalists, like CNN factchecker Daniel Dale, pushed back. "This 'Biden asleep' stuff is nonsense ," Dale tweeted on Saturday. But here's the thing. Watch Biden's public appearance with Bennett on this C-Span video . The president appeared exhausted, just as he appeared exhausted a day earlier when he delivered remarks on the deaths of 13 American military men and women killed by a suicide bomber during

As many long-time readers will know, we do have a little bit more than average experience dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes. I ain’t no expert in the before part; you need to heed the local professionals who guide you through any preparation, and neighborhood specific guidelines, for your immediate area…But when it comes to the ‘after part’, well, as a long-time CERT recovery member, perhaps I can share some things you might find of value. Consider this little word salad a buffet, absorb what might be of value – pass over anything else.If your town, city or hamlet is not underwater, there will be convoys coming to construct a

The 26-year old Columbia Law student wore a low-cut metallic dress and fascia stilettos at the lavish celebration, where she was seen sipping champagne and chatting with guests around the extravagant grounds. She was also seen sharing some PDA with her boyfriend, Peter Neal, who has been with Biden for the last few years. A Washington Post column published Sunday was slammed by critics for blaming the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan on the American people, rather than the actual perpetrators of the violence unfolding across the war-torn country. "If you ask me who is to blame, I would point not only to Biden but to former president Donald Trump — and to all of us, the people of America. By carrying out this pell-mell withdrawal from Afghanistan, our leaders, after all, were only giving us what we wanted," columnist Max Boot wrote. (Tweet) "There are recriminations aplenty, but the sad fact is that the only

On the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, some forecasters said Hurricane Ida would be as intense as last year’s Laura and the Last Island Hurricane of 1856. Both were among the strongest storms on record to make landfall in Louisana.
According to CNN, about half a million people were without power in the region.
On Saturday, state and federal officials worked to get evacuation orders signed and emergency declarations in order. Sporting events and casinos were closed or postponed for the weekend. Mississippi schools were announced closed for Monday.

The Golden Boy of the Golden State, politically propelled by Getty family gold, could very well come crashing down to earth like a hair gel slathered lead balloon come September 14th. As the impossible has become possible, Newsom still does not seem to understand why he, of all people, is being held responsible for the myriad list of woes plaguing California.
His factory-built career and factory-built personality simply have not prepared him psychologically for the possibility that maybe, just maybe, he really is an empty suit. Groomed from birth by an extremely wealthy coterie of San

What do Hunter Biden’s art and the Clinton Foundation have in common? (snip) The former is not selling priceless works of art, and the latter is not helping those in need. They are both selling influence. The art and the foundation are merely instruments to launder bribes. We know this to be true because the donations to the Clinton Foundation dried up when the Clintons no longer had influence to peddle. Likewise, I predict that Hunter’s art will suddenly become less valuable as soon as Joe leaves office.

California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder explained on "Sunday Morning Futures" why he believes embattled Gov. Gavin Newsom "will be out of here" by September 14.
Elder slammed the governor on Sunday for the surge in crime and homelessness in the state as well as the coronavirus shutdowns, which he argued led to a third of all California small businesses shutting down for good.
Elder made the comments as ballots are being sent to voters for California’s gubernatorial recall election of Newsom. In some counties, ballot drop boxes are already open and some election offices are available for early voting, ahead of the Sept. 14 contest.

For the past several years, global terrorism was in retreat and had dropped off the list of Americans’ fears entirely. Now, after the debacle in Afghanistan, it’s suddenly front-page news again. Will a revival of terrorism be President Joe Biden’s legacy?
Rewind the tape to 2015. ISIS – which emerged as a powerhouse after President Barack Obama’s decision to evacuate Iraq – was claiming huge swaths of land, to the surprise of Obama (who had dismissed ISIS as the “JV team”). And, not coincidentally, the number of terrorist attacks spiked.

Virginia’s Department of Education hosted a speaker who instructed teachers to exclude the role Muslim extremism played when teaching students about 9/11. In a PowerPoint delivered by “Education Leadership scholar” Amaarah DeCuir, teachers were instructed to avoid using language that could pin the events of 9/11 on Muslim extremism. The lecturer pointed to the heightened anti-Muslim sentiment that allegedly ticks up around the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.“School and classroom 9/11 commemorations are sites for increased anti-Muslim racism,” the presentation reads.

When the Biden administration’s feckless management of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan produced all too predictable chaos, the legacy media uncharacteristically reported on the debacle with remarkable candor. This was unsettling to a White House inured to obsequious coverage, and various administration officials have expressed frustration concerning the Fourth Estate’s unfavorable approach to the story. Inevitably, certain “journalists” echoed the complaint. New York Magazine’s Eric Levitz, for example, querulously insisted, “America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan has yet to cost our nation a single casualty.” The day after this was published, 13 Americans were murdered by Islamic State terrorists. In a New York Times column published on the day of this attack

The Kabul airport was targeted in a rocket attack on Monday that was intercepted by the U.S.’s C-RAM missile defense system, a U.S. defense official told Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin. The official said there were no reported casualties. U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to an after-hours email from Fox News. Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, said top aides have briefed President Biden on the development, including Jake Sullivan, his national security adviser. She said in the statement that in light of the attack, the president "has reconfirmed his order that commanders redouble their efforts to prioritize doing whatever

Our 13 young military fallen deserved better, but they died with honor and give us faith in their noble generation, which has had to shoulder the burden of its feckless elders. A war that began when most of them were babies ended in disgrace when they were killed along with nearly 200 Afghans in last week’s suicide attack at Kabul airport during a withdrawal that could not have been more botched.
As President Biden attended Dover Air Force Base Sunday for the “dignified transfer” of the remains of these first US troops killed in Afghanistan in 18 months, thankfully, there were no words.

Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, must go.
President Biden claims that the military advised him to close Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan and instead use Kabul’s airport to evacuate Americans. They were the ones who said the Afghan army would hold, that the pullout would go smoothly.
If Biden is telling the truth, this disaster is on Milley’s watch. Or Biden is lying (the more likely scenario, based on what sources inside the administration are saying) and Milley failed to do his duty and push back against a commander in chief who is making deadly decisions. Either way, he is derelict in his duty

The Sunday morning political shows were not kind to Joe Biden and his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. Any and all criticism leveled at his decisions is warranted, especially since the death of 13 military members, ages 20 – 31 at the Kabul airport. There is no hiding from that tragedy at Camp David or in the basement of one of his Delaware homes.
One critic who keeps showing up is retired General H.R. McMaster who served as National Security Advisor in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2018. His time in the administration was bumpy and after he left, there was talk that he called Trump a “dope” which was denied

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement on Sunday indicating that it would investigate reports of civilian deaths that, it said, may have resulted from secondary explosions after an airstrike took out a would-be suicide bomber.
As Breitbart News and other agencies reported earlier on Sunday, an American drone targeted a car that was said to be carrying multiple suicide bombers to the international airport in Kabul. U.S. Navy Capt. Bill Urban, a spokesman for CENTCOM, said: “Significant secondary explosions from the vehicle indicated the presence of a substantial amount of explosive material.”

The possibility that Larry Elder may win California’s recall election against Governor Gavin Newsom is generating acute anxiety in the mainstream media and among the activist Left. Elder’s foes are responding with their favored means of destruction: by playing the race card. Never mind that the nationally syndicated talk show host is black. A series of opinion columns and editorials have accused him of being a white supremacist, or at the very least a shill for other white supremacists. Elect Elder and California will reinstate Jim Crow, state senator Sydney Kamlager, a Democrat from Los Angeles, has warned.
