KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghanistan’s embattled president left the country Sunday, joining his fellow citizens and foreigners in a stampede fleeing the advancing Taliban and signaling the end of a 20-year Western experiment aimed at remaking Afghanistan. The Taliban, which for hours had been in the outskirts of Kabul, announced soon after they would move further into a city gripped by panic throughout the day as helicopters raced overhead to evacuate personnel from the U.S. Embassy. Smoke rose near the compound as staff destroyed important documents. Several other Western missions also prepared to pull their people out. Never let it be forgotten that the Taliban are inspired by Islam and its 7th century brutal laws.

Wonder how many millions he and other officials skimmed off over the years. They will be living large while the ordinary people will suffer. That's how it works in third world country's.

Obviously the Afghan President was never a uniter. The country fell apart quickly after the United States withdrew its support.
inevitable what happened, but it took an administration with no regard for human life, and a President with diminished faculties to bring it about. Trump never pulled the plug on Afghanistan. Neither did Obama though he very much wanted to. Bush naively thought he could turn the country into a nation. If Biden had his mental faculties, he would likely have never pulled out. This sheds light on the people behind Biden. They are ruthless bastards with no regard for human life. We cannot have that mindset running the country.
Maybe the Taliban will be able to unite Afghanistan at the point of a gun. Both the United States and Russia are sick of the place, and won't interfere. China will now try to run the country. Good luck! They are going to need it. They better not have any great expectations.
Leave the Afghans to themselves as long as they leave the rest of the world alone. If they do not become a safe haven for terrorists they shouldn't have any problem. Btw, what percentage of the Taliban is made up of Afghans? It will much more likely be a terrorist state if its run by jihadis.

I would like to think this will finally be the end of American colonialism and the failed experiment of nation building, but I know it won't. Like socialism, the next time will be 'different'.
So tired of the sacrifice our country makes for nothing. This must end.

I'm reading the senile creeper went over the advice given not to withdraw. If this is true did Meat Face Milley tell fraud Biden not to? We don't know who's running things in the government but we have a clue about the Military Complex and it's very weak. The likes of the lying rotund Vindeman is one of them with the CRT expert and Klan chaser Meat Face Milley. This country is in it's darkest hours but the blame can be spread to many including some republicans who stabbed the President in the back when his policies were working.

Twenty years, thousands of American lives, and trillions of dollars spent for nothing. Sad to say, but further effort in Afghanistan would have been wasted. If their ME neighbors are that concerned about the Taliban, let THEM sacrifice their sons and spend their money fighting them.

Fitting that a life time politician that has been wrong on every foreign policy decision he’s made in 40 years preside over this debacle in Afghanistan

The Afghan President is fleeing as is our President. He has been endorsed in Delaware and has now gone to Camp David. When will he stay in DC and do the job we are paying him to do? He owns this mess!

But - - but - - but - - two weeks ago - - didn't Josef Stolen assure us about how big and well-armed the Afghan military was?
And doesn't Thoroughly Modern Milley have the bulk of of military chasing down dangerous Raging White Men?
Gee - - I'm beginning to lose faith in what they've been telling me.

I really love these adjectives. The Afghan President is always described as embattled, and yet, no one has ever witnessed him doing anything.

Pardon second post...
If anything points to Biden's diminished mental faculties, this is it.
A pullout would mean the deaths of thousands of Afghanis, another lost war for the USA, and President and the party they belong to would take a major drubbing next election. That's why Obama never pulled out of Afghanistan even though he ran on pulling out. Obama was quite angry when he had to backpedal.
A lucid Biden would have seen the same thing, and back tracked. A mentally deficient Biden would not.
Btw, the person behind the pullout was likely Obama. He finally got what he wanted without being held accountable for it. He was always for anything that hurt America, and clearly does not care if anyone dies in the process.
This happened on Biden's watch so he's to blame. Obama is also to blame since he's the one behind Biden giving the orders.

“Mr. president, is the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan now inevitable?” asked a reporter.
“No, it is not. Because you have the Afghan troops that’s 300,000 well-equipped — as well-equipped as any army in the world — and an air force against something like 75,000 Taliban. It is not inevitable.”
