Rep. Liz Cheney said Sunday President Bidens and Trump shoulder the blame for the unfolding “catastrophe” in Afghanistan. The Wyoming Republican and member of the House Armed Services Committee said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” the situation in Afghanistan was avoidable, and the fallout will tarnish the nation’s image on the world stage for years to come. “I think that, absolutely, President Biden bears responsibility for making this decision, but there is no question that President Trump, his administration, [former Secretary Mike] Pompeo, they also bear very significant responsibility for this,” Ms. Cheney said. “They walked down this path of legitimizing the Taliban, of perpetuating this fantasy,

Speaking of which, Where's George? He seldom shied away from slamming President Trump, a far better man than he, yet he remains silent when the Clintons, the Obamas, and the Bidets are in the news.

Trump worked out a withdrawal with conditions. Had he held his rightful job as president, the Taliban would have feared his wrath because Trump had proven that he was not someone to be trifled with. Biden just picked a date and said we're leaving, then changed it a couple of times. No one is afraid of anything involving Biden, except bursting into uncontrollable laughter every time he or Harris says something stupid.

Afghanistan was not a winnable war. From the very start. That afghans don't even know they have a country let alone want a bigger, better one. The only thing you can do to them is punish them mercilessly and lock them down behind their own borders. Quarantine that piece of real estate.
Dubya and Dick are to blame for 20 years of squandering our warrior's lives. Joe is responsible for the circus we're witnessing now.
Why our military command went along with this debacle is beyond me. 20 years of lying...

Trump has been out of office since January 21st Liz. Biden, the most experienced foreign policy expert in, like forever, had 12+ years to come up with an exit strategy of his own. His plan, run away like a little girl.
Biden owns this.

More BS from LC.
Personally, since we've discovered the Joint Chiefs regularly disobeyed or sabotaged their elected Commander in Chief, I've wanted to haul them all out, Court Martial them, and hang them.

Nice try, Lizzie. But, trying to distract attention away from your father's failed policies under W doesn't change things. Understand the foreign policy history in Afghanistan. The Brits failed, then the Russians failed, and now Amerika has failed. But, it is most strange that Amerika has unlocked the most embarrassing ways to fail.

Who is responsible for the wreak in Afghanistan? Let's see, we have Bush, Barack, Trump, & Biden. All the administration helpers - VP, SofS, cabinets. Along with the Senate, Congress, Pentagon, and on and on.

No, Daughter of Dick, your Father and George W. Bush are responsible.

Agree re: comments about Bush and Biden. Not a full brain between the two.
And, as an aside, ask anyone in the oil business — Halliburton is a cruddy company that does a bad job and has effectively gone broke as it lost its political big hitters. (Or rather they lost power.)
Just another example of crony capitalism from our betters.

Hey Liz! Do you even believe what you are saying? Is somebody paying you to say this crap? Are you saying whatever certain people want to hear as long as they pay you? Gee what other profession does that?
Trump was for an ordered withdraw from Afghanistan. Don't know if it would have worked. Probably not. The Taliban never intended for a peaceful transition of power. Biden just pulled the plug on that plan and everything went south. Btw, who started talks with the Taliban? It wasn't Trump.

I liked V.P. Cheney, but sorry to say that administration was part of the military-industrial complex and many made billions off of American lives lost in the Middle East. And what can you say for Biden...Big Tech, Big Media, Big Corp bought him, paid him, and they own him and the destruction he and Zero has done. Not Trump voters.

How much money did Cheney's father make from the entering Afghanistan by U.S. forces? How much money did many of these inside the beltway creatures make from this?

Cheney is committing political suicide and still does not recognize that fact. The only reason that the liberal ABC had her on their show is they knew that she was going to criticize Trump and his Republican administration.

According to endless war Liz, if Trump hadn’t legitimized the Taliban, Biden would have withdrawn the troops responsibility. There’s some analysis that makes no sense.

Cheney would be a great replacement for VP Harris...they blame everyone but themselves....well I guess W’s response is next........one thing for sure Trump would not have allowed this mess to happen. What’s with a country who can’t be in control after years of the US doing their job for tooooo many years????

Cheney should stuff a sock in it.
Doesn't he remember what Trump did to Isis in Iraq in 12 months after they had a 3-4 year start on their perfidy? Trump would have stopped the Taliban in their tracks.

Liz' father Dick and Compassionate George got us into the Afghanistan folly, to no benefit whatsoever to the USA, and Congresswoman Liz herself, in her capacity in Dubya's State Department, was a key proponent of regime change in the Middle East. The three of them should be in Gitmo instead of spouting off and blaming others.
