Republican Sen. Tim Scott boarded a plane to Hawaii earlier this year to meet with one of the richest people in the world: Tech titan Larry Ellison.Ellison’s remote Lanai Island home was well out of the South Carolina senator’s way. But for Scott, who like the 76-year-old Ellison is an outspoken advocate for school choice, cultivating the mogul has paid dividends — and could even help propel a 2024 presidential bid. Since last October, Ellison has contributed $10 million to an outside group aligned with the senator — a huge sum even in the super PAC era and the business owner’s biggest known contribution in three decades

You can forget about that buzz. Tim Scott is no genius. We need someone that fights and has a lot of smarts.

Tim Scott can meet with who ever he wants. It still will not make him a true conservative. The longer he is in the senator the more he becomes a RINO. Sorry, Tim Scott is a horrible choice and will not go anywhere.

Tim Scott had become the flavor of the month. GOPe doesn’t want Trump or DeSantis. They’re wasting their money as far as I’m concerned, unless they have something else in mind.

Tim Scott might not be a political genius. But he is a lot smarter than Heb. IMO, he will not run. But may accept the Veep spot if DeSantis is the nominee. Both of course blessed by PDT.

Sounds like he is courting money, instead of talking about issues that conservatives care about. I have not forgotten Trump coming down the escalator and actually promising what we needed to hear -- that he would close the borders. THAT is what gets votes. Sure, school choice is important, but not nearly as important as having national borders.

I’m glad that everyone here is so proud of the outstanding achievements of President Trump. He was an amateur playing with professionals who OPENLY REBELLED against him (and the Constitution) yet didn’t have the sack to fire them immediately and DRAIN THE SWAMP, which he promised but did not do. He tweeted about celebrities as the nation burned, allowed his most dedicated followers to suffer when he could have prevented it, was the absolute WORST at choosing staff, empowered his eff’n daughter and her Christian-hating husband as the President pretended to be Christian (don’t believe for one second that he loves the Lord Jesus Christ), and was too scared to play hardball with people (even in his own administration) doing every to subvert the will of the people. Not enough space here to go over his complete failure as a President who allowed the advancement of socialism in America. He’s a narcissistic celebrity and nothing more. If you can’t see that Ron DeSantis is a million times better, then you’re beyond help. Enjoy the suck.

I love Trump and thought he was one of our greatest Presidents, but, like it or not, he is a polarizing figure and comes with a lot of baggage. He can’t help himself as recently shown in his ego driven slap of Rand Paul about the Ohio primary. Paul’s one of us, leave him alone. I know many conservatives that cannot suffer Trump’s insecurities and ego and will stay home in 2024.
Trump should resign himself as The Godfather of the Conservative movement and spend his days cultivating and funding great Conservative candidates across the USA. Can you imagine how much money he could raise in that effort.
DeSantis would be a great candidate. Pompeo is smart, well spoken with great international experience. Please avoid identity politics (Scott, Noem, Haley) and pick the best candidates. There are only a few.
Whoever we pick will get my support and vote!

Whew. That was some kinda post there about President Trump. Wow. You are on the wrong site buddy. Sorry, I know that's against the rules, but my head is just reeling. Now back to our regular programming.
Donald J. Trump didn't need no stinkin' mega donors. Nor did the billionaire use vast amounts of his own fortune. He won on his own, propelled by contributions made by the people on this website and millions of others just like us. It's called the MAGA movement. And it is truly a grass roots juggernaut.
I love Tim Scott, but he has absolutely NO management experience. And the fact that the Republican establishment mega donors are in so early, will seal his fate negatively with many more MAGA supporters. Moreover, he is not a "bigger than life" personality.
I believe whomever will be the opponent of the communist democrats will need to be a huge personality, tough as nails, no BS warrior that will charge into the fray, unafraid. And notice I say opponent, and not Republican candidate since I cannot, today even write the words Republican presidential candidate, when 18 republicans not only throw a much needed life line to the communist installed pretend president, but throw their base and America under the bus as they vote for this travesty "infrastructure" bill. I am very happy to see that Senator Tim Scott is not one of the 18.
President Trump and Ron DeSantis will be the best team to run in 2024. If President Trump decides not to run for a 3rd term, then at this juncture Ron DeSantis will be a great candidate. But, let's not forget, Mike Pompeo would be a fantastic candidate as well. Unlike the democrats, we have options. Mega donors be darned.

This won't make Nikki Haley happy.
Tim doesn't have the personality for potus. DeSantis is the hands down Favorite, if Trump decides not to run. He's the whole package and has the personality and energy of a champion fighter. Furthermore, he has shown to be a tough leader and knows how to handle the press. However, I don't see him as Vice President. He's more effective as Governor of Florida.

So those with money still don't get it. To save this country, we need people who will fight for it. Tim Scott ain't one of them. Go ahead and waste your money on someone who won't make it past the primaries. Us low income no nothings will back real candidates who can pass the smell test. We did it in 2016 and 2020, and we'll do it again. Either get on board, or get out of the way.

#24 - Even candidate Trump needed the Megadonors' support. PDT's golden moment was not when he came down the iconic escalator, but a meeting with Shel Adelson in Las Vegas that sealed the matter of his backing. The grassroots cannot roll the pros. One need only look at the Tea Party to see how any such movement is sucked in and bastardized, with the boobs following. MAGA will get the same treatment. How many '20 cycle RINOs are there in the Senate?
#20 raises some points that merit thought. (Yes, you can go into the denial shell if you choose.) He is exactly right about PDT's being "an amateur playing with professionals." Business and government leadership are two vastly different things. Personal and political power are effectively used in different ways to different ends. The UNIPARTY smacked him around with TWO impeachments while tying up his domestic agenda, before tossing him with a rigged election. The bureaucracy was openly hostile...ask the FBI and CIA about that.
And his personnel decisions, particularly at the cabinet and inner office levels, were horrid - Tillerson, Mattis, Gorka, Bolton...the roster keeps going. He endorsed Mitt Romney. He elevated Fauci and Birx as his go-to science gurus, and the rest is ongoing history. Those are hardly successes. Men like Pompeo are the exceptions proving the rule.
Like a businessman, he relied on lawyers far too much - especially in the immediate post-election period. While many blame the courts, the Constitution says his possible relief was with the state legislatures. The Fox News Showponies made a mess of legitimate legal challenges, even after judges tried to educate them.
I'd vote for FPDT tomorrow, but with my eyes open, too.

Who?
School choice is great, but you can't become president because you support school choice. You need to have a lot of fight in you, and you need to have some presidential bearing. (Trump had scads of the former and all too little of the latter.)
In 2024, my choices are either Desantis or Ted Cruz...and as much as I treasure Ted, we need him in the Senate and about 99 more senators like him, so pretty much Desantis. I want a Donald Trump without all the negatives that Trump has. I want a Trump who doesn't talk at a 5th grade reading level. I want a Trump who isn't full of superlatives about himself. I want a Trump who has some grace and dignity and without all the scandal. (Is that Tim Scott? I'm betting not.)

Tim Scott was a genius on Opportunity Zones in the inner cities to help the black/brown communities and President Trump was wise to incorporate those into a govt. plan. That was another reason so many blacks and Latinos voted for President Trump in 2020. As for running for president, Senator Scott can be easily swayed by powerful people. We need a president with a strong backbone that cannot be bought like DJT.

Regarding Trump and mega donors in 2016, Sheldon Adelson was an anomaly in the Republican donor class. The Kochs and many other reliable mega donors, the boys that funded Jeb, would have nothing to do with the Trump campaign. Trump ran an incredibly focused and efficient campaign. And the reason he was so successful, and the reason MAGA is as successful as it is, is because Trump's funding comes from large numbers of small donors. That said, Trump made major mistakes with his personnel picks. But, it was because he relied on people he thought he could trust in politics and government, as he was a total outsider with little experience in government staffing. I suspect, if Trump runs a successful campaign for president in 2024, he will not make the same personnel mistakes, as well as other mistakes, he made in his first term.
Let's never forget Trump won 2020 hands down. This election was stolen. So even Trump's supposedly bad characteristics, his tweeting, inelegant English, boorishness at times, whatever, were not enough to defeat him. Trump will win again in 2024, as long as the elections are honest.

I like Tim Scott, and if I lived in S.C. I would vote for his re-election without hesitation. Tim belongs in the Senate, and I hope he chooses to stay there.
I don't think PDT will run again. I'll support him to the hilt if he does, but just don't see it in the cards. Too much media manufactured baggage, his accomplishments while in office forgotten by a confused public which barely knows up from down.
And the MSM are already savaging DeSantis with deliberately orchestrated hysteria over COVID. They've learned how easily people can be manipulated.
By 2023 the country will be unrecognizable, and I don't see us voting our way out of this.
