New York’s governor-in-waiting needs a no. 2 —and is eyeing a political ally from downstate who can help her keep the job. Kathy Hochul, who takes over from Gov. Cuomo on Aug. 24, has been mulling two state senators from the Big Apple to assume her current post as lieutenant governor, sources told The Post. Jamaal Bailey from the Bronx and Harlem’s Brian A. Benjamin are under consideration for the coveted spot, they said. “She wants a downstate ally to run for re-elect,” one insider said. “She’s trying to map her political future.

How many times have you asked, or been asked, over the last year, something like, “What would Martin Luther King Jr. think about the state of today’s race relations in America?” Or, even better, what would MLK think about critical race theory and the efforts to erase everything he fought for?
Chances are, if you’ve asked or been asked the question, you know exactly what he’d think.Someone else who knows exactly what Martin Luther King Jr. would think is his niece, Dr. Alveda King, who recently wrote an op-ed for Fox News’s digital platform that would no doubt make her uncle proud; Dr. King took on the “woke white folks”

In the waning days of the Trump administration, the country was showing signs of economic improvement, people were feeling more confident about battling COVID, and the border was relatively secure as the wall was finally being constructed. What a difference seven months can make. It has been a horrific 207 days since President Joe Biden and his radical administration were unleashed on the country. In effect, a political apocalypse is approaching. In the New Testament Book of Revelation, the four horsemen of the apocalypse are revealed to be "Conquest, War, Famine, and Death."

A European visitor once remarked to me that he found the American practice of flying the flag outside of homes odd. In Europe, he said, flag flying, if done at all, tended to confine itself to proletarian sports enthusiasm and to local decorative flag flying. After all, everyone already knows in what country they are residing.Americans take or, until recently took, an extraordinary pride in flying their national flag. Roughly 150 million American flags are sold each year in the United States. In a little over two years, one flag has been sold in the United States for each person resident here.

On Monday, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ordered a “code red,” releasing a “landmark” report warning that global warming was an existential threat to humanity, “unequivocally” blaming humans and demanding rapid action to cut greenhouse-gas emissions.“What the IPCC told us is what President Biden has believed all along,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki noted Tuesday. “Climate change is an urgent threat that requires bold action.”The very next day, the Biden administration released a statement imploring the OPEC cartel to increase production of oil to help lower worldwide gas prices.

Texas House Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Black is going door to door to round up Democrats in the Lone Star State in an effort to reach quorum so the legislature can vote on election security, according to KXAN. The House needs two-thirds of its members present to hold a vote, but Democrats have refused to show up, with nearly 60 fleeing to Washington, DC last month in a flashy display of defiance. Local law enforcement is also assisting in the search, and if they find any lawmakers they can take them into custody and bring them to the Texas House chamber.

The final report of the 2020 Census that will be used to redraw lines for congressional districts within 44 states was released by the Census Bureau on Thursday, setting the stage for redistricting battles in state legislatures around the country. The process of redrawing congressional district boundaries has the potential of changing the majority control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2022 midterm elections from Democrats to Republicans. Thursday’s report added demographic detail at the census tract level within each state, a more granular analysis than the 2020 Census data released in April, which offered aggregate data at the state level.

Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell said President Joe Biden’s 90-day COVID origins investigation is an insult to the career intelligence officials who have been probing the virus’s origins for well over a year and will continue to do so as new information comes in.Grenell, who led the intelligence community during the early months of the pandemic from February to May 2020, said Biden’s May 26, 2021, directive to the intelligence community to “redouble their efforts” to determine the origins of the virus shows the president never paid attention to the evidence he likely received during his daily briefings.

Stephen Colbert is wrong about a lot, but his biggest mistake yet was allowing Clown News Network’s Brian Stelter onto his show this week. The Late Show saw a drastic decrease in viewership during Colbert’s segment with the news anchor who scrambled helplessly in an attempt to defend Chris Cuomo. On Tuesday Stelter appeared on the show and discussed the recent sexual assault allegations that drove NY Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign, they're implications for and his brother Chris (AKA Fredo), who is an anchor for CNN.

The co-founder of fact-checking website Snopes has apologized for plagiarizing more than 50 articles and writing under a fake name.David Mikkelson, a computer science graduate who founded the site in 1994, blamed the behavior on a lack of journalistic training.'I didn't come from a journalism background,' he said. 'I wasn't used to doing news aggregation. A number of times I crossed the line to where it was copyright infringement. I own that.' Following an investigation by BuzzFeed News, he is no longer allowed to publish articles on the page - although he retains his position as chief executive.

When President Joe Biden defended his decision to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by a September 11 deadline, the president told reporters in July that it remained "highly unlikely" the Taliban would take control of the country. "The likelihood there's going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely," Biden said. "The Afghan government and leadership has to come together. They clearly have the capacity to sustain the government in place … there's not a conclusion that, in fact, they cannot defeat the Taliban."
