Polk County, Fla. — Deputies in central Florida made over a dozen arrests as part of an undercover operation targeting suspected child predators.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday the arrests of 17 people as a part of Operation: Child Predator. The operation took place between July 27 and Aug. 1, and the arrests were made with the help of several other law enforcement agencies.
“These are nasty, nasty people,” said Polk Sheriff Grady Judd, according to Fox 13. “We can’t even use the words that they used. We obviously can’t show the pictures and video clips that they sent

During a press briefing Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki brushed off concerns about the constitutionality of the Biden administration’s decision to extend the existing eviction moratorium without congressional approval.
President Biden announced Tuesday that the CDC would extend the eviction moratorium in the areas of the country that have been hardest hit by the resurgence of COVID-19. After making announcement, Biden conceded that “the bulk of the constitutional scholars say it’s not likely to pass constitutional muster.”
When a reporter suggested that many Americans are concerned about Biden’s willingness to pursue a constitutionally dubious course of action, Psaki pushed back, suggesting that the reporter was citing non-existent critics.

Geneva — The head of the World Health Organization is calling for a moratorium on administering booster shots of COVID-19 vaccines as a way to help ensure that doses are available in countries where few people have received their first shots.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the appeal mostly to wealthier countries that have far outpaced the developing world in numbers of vaccinations.
WHO officials say the science is unproven about whether giving booster shots to people who have already received two vaccine doses is effective in preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

The Texas House Democratic Caucus could not account Tuesday for two of the members who broke quorum and fled for Washington, D.C. over Republicans' priority elections bill, while a Texas Monthly reporter said the members were on vacation in Portugal.
State Reps. Julie Johnson of Farmers Branch and Jessica González of Dallas were not with other House Democrats on Tuesday in the nation's capital, according to a person familiar with the situation. On Tuesday evening, Texas Monthly reporter Jonathan Tilove tweeted that he "can confirm [Johnson] and her wife & [González] and her fiancé are in Portugal for a vacation they had been planning, with non-refundable tickets, for a year-and-a-half."

As we previously reported, Joe Biden announced that the CDC would be coming down with a new temporary eviction moratorium order.
What was so stunning about Biden’s remarks is that he indicated he knew it was likely to not pass constitutional muster, his own advisors had said the day before that they didn’t have the legal authority, that they had “quadruple-checked it.” Yet he decided to do it anyway, caving under pressure from the progressives. But, in the process, he also said the quiet part out loud — that they were going to do it anyway even if it was unconstitutional because it would take time

The Washington Post reports that Joe Biden, bowing to pressure from the left, will extend the moratorium on evictions, after all. Initially, Biden had refused to do so because, as he acknowledged, he quite plainly lacks that authority. But now, he has decided to violate the law — indeed, the Constitution — and extend the moratorium.
The Post states:
The Biden administration has repeatedly insisted that it lacked the legal authority to renew that program [the eviction moratorium]. However, the delta variant has renewed concern

More than half of Hispanics in California say they would vote to recall Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, according to an Inside California Politics/Emerson College poll published Tuesday.
The poll of 1,000 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3%, showed Californians are split on the issue with 46% in favor of recalling Newsom and 48% are against it. Among Hispanics, 54% said they would vote to recall.
A majority of black and Asian respondents support keeping Newsom, while among whites, support for and opposition to removing the governor is evenly split, according to the poll.

Joe Biden never misses an opportunity to politicize any issue, including the relatively benign Delta Indian variant of Covid. Today, Biden tried to blame Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis–coincidentally, both Republicans–for the Indian variant’s inevitable spread:
US President Joe Biden on Tuesday urged Republican leaders in Florida and Texas – home to roughly a third of all new U.S. COVID-19 cases – to follow public health guidelines on the pandemic or “get out of the way” as the country struggles to contain the rapid spread of the disease’s Delta variant.

Not even the USA winning the gold for all-around gymnastics lifted the ratings for the 2020 Woke Olympics anywhere close to respectable territory.
“NBC said Friday that Thursday’s primetime coverage of the Tokyo Summer Olympics averaged a 10.8 rating and 19.5 million viewers across all of its platforms, down 43% in ratings and 41% in viewership from the comparable night of the Rio Games in 2016 (18.9, 33.0M),” Sports Media Watch reported. “Versus the most recent Olympics, the Pyeongchang Winter Games three years ago, ratings fell 5% and viewership 1% from an 11.4 and 19.3 million.”
“So far, all seven nights of the Olympics have averaged 20 million or fewer viewers

The White House press corps continued into Tuesday its strategy to turn their guns toward Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as, over the course of a press briefing and presidential press conference, numerous reporters urged President Biden and Press Secretary Jen Psaki to declare that DeSantis and fellow Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) were sickening their own citizens with the coronavirus due to their refusal to reimplement restrictions.
CBS’s Nancy Cordes broke the ice by telling Psaki that DeSantis “is taking a very different approach than New York” in not requiring vaccination to enter indoor places as the Sunshine State “hit another record today of Covid cases
