“This land is your land and this land is my land--From California to the New York island
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters-This land was made for you and me.” ~ Woodie GuthrieWas it? Was this land “made for you and me,” or was it also made for foreign countries to buy up?According to a May 28, 2019 article in US News & Report, nearly 30 million acres of U.S. farmland were owned by foreign countries as of that date. Insane? It gets worse.

The Chinese cannot feed themselves. Let the Chinese buy all the land they can to become totally dependent on USA farms to feed themselves. It brings their dollars home and when push comes to shove, we can confiscate the crops, nationalize the land and let them starve.

Chinese-owned farms would be a handy way to introduce invasive plants and insects into otherwise healthy neighboring fields. And by the american way of thinking, that's good for business because then we'll need new insecticides and herbicides to control the new pests, and new government workers to study the pests and regulate the new chemicals, which China will sell to us.

We're giving our South West away to Mexico and South American countries. Why not let China get a cut? /s

One word: subsidies. Our government transfers billions of dollars to large farm owners every year. On top of that, they get subsidized loans for large purchases.

Anecdotal story on the topic. Our local hay co-op owner told me just yesterday that the next load of Bermuda grass she gets in will be selling for $6 more per bale and the price of every other variety will be going up as well. Reason? China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE are buying up everything at inflated prices. Combine that with drought in the West, incessant rain in the East (hay is being trucked from Arizona to Florida this summer), and rising diesel fuel prices and the future (both short- and long-term) for the cattle industry and recreational horse owners is looking bleak. Biden isn't responsible for the weather but he is NOT the one to be leading us through the coming mess.

Nationalize it after we get the money. I'm sure the Chinese know how that works.

On a related topic: I don't know if it's still the case, but 30 years ago when I was heavily into mineral collecting, I was astonished to learn that Canadian companies owned nearly all mineral claims in the western United States, for development purposes. How on earth can that be permitted??

Why are we selling farmland to China? Because we are in debt to them. This is what happens when you owe 30 trillion dollars.

Silver lining: Trump signed an executive order that stated that assets would be confiscated when human trafficking is involved. Hopefully those criminals own lots of land and banks full of money on U.S. soil.

BUT... if china buys the land ... they must work it...and the farmers are conservatives and will not co-operate.... I'm reminded of the new directive china gave to it's military... they must be more manly... like American Farmers....having been taught by the good little commies that Chinese men are weak and unimaginative and lack endurance they are weak...and they certainly can't hold up against a tough American Man... is that why General milk toast wants our military to study white priviledge instead of warfare....looks like general milk toast is in china's pocket...

This is bad - from any angle, asset, food supply, environmental - you name it.
To #2, Debra Comstock (farm-girl) said in her write up:
"The revenues from these productions do not pass through the American commodities markets but, rather, flow through the foreign entities’ own distribution channels, directly to the home country." What she says makes it sound like we reap no monetary gain.
To # 3: we already have SERIOUS problems with invasive species - plant, insect & wildlife. Think Japanese kudzu which you see everywhere, the Emerald Ash borer in the midwest, Nutria breeding unchecked in LA, Asian carp in the Mississippi, Illinois, Ohio & Missouri rivers & going into the Great Lakes, Northern snakehead in the Chesapeake Watershed, Asian tiger mosquitoes which transmit 20 different kinds of viruses, in the southeast, TX, CA, & HI. There are killer wasps in the northwest, Burmese pythons in the Everglades, feral hogs in 47 states w/assive populations in TX, GA, FL, NC, & in one lake in upper NY alone; Asian clams, Eurasian watermilfoil, Zebra mussels, Chinese mystery snails, spiny water fleas, and curly-leaf pondweed.
And God only knows what is coming across the southern border every day with the hordes of people bringing in any manner of things.
It's scary stuff so I am hoping you were being facetious in your post.

A corrupt parasitical govt. draws in ever- larger swarms of rapacious parasites to the feeding frenzy of degradation
of the host organism.
They, in turn, import an even- larger slave class to fuel their expansionist schemes.
US requirements-- deeds , laws, markets, compensation --- will be rendered null. void, and utterly irrelevant.

Last year some time, I because curious about some Chinese lettering on the Smithfield Meat label I had purchased. I'm no great shakes at research, but I found that the Smithfield packing facilities had been sold to interest in China a few years ago. After I found that out, I just quit trying. There's no such thing as Made in America any more.

This is likely the reason Bill Gates is land grabbing, so he can turn around and sell to the Chinese at a premium.
