John noted last night the large anti-regime protests in Cuba, and one hopes that this is the beginning of the end for the Castro tyranny, in just the way that mass protests in Eastern Europe in 1989 presaged the fall of the Berlin Wall in November of that year, and the collapse of Communist rule shortly thereafter.
There are reasons to worry about this scene, however. Protestors took to the streets “in cities all around the country” according to media reports. Did these protests happen spontaneously? There are credible reports of building unrest among Cubans for several months now, but protests usually require some planning, coordination, and communication.
If the Cubans are hoping for America to be their savior, they are going to be sadly disappointed, just as those in Hong Kong and Teheran were when their uprisings were brutally put down. Our record is absolutely dismal at this since 1945, though most of the peoples we decide to assist don't want the help we offer. We have just spent the last 30 years in Iraq and Afghanistan to zero gain, and I don't think most of us (including me) can stomach more US intervention. We have been bled white and our treasury tapped out.
Xiden has no interest in toppling a communist regime anyway, even one right on our doorstep. He would rather go waste more money we don't have in the sewer known as Haiti.

Spanish speakers, as history shows, are rather bovine and ovine when politically oppressd and repressed. There'll be no revolution against the communist regime in Cuba. Demonstrations by thousands? Nothing to see here, folks,, you can move on.

Wishful thinking. Expect Maduro from Venezuela to provide military support to put down the protests. The protestors will receive no support from the Obama regime. Cuba will remain Communist, just like when under Barack, the Mullahs were successful in putting down the Iranian protestors during his administration. Oppressors stick together when endangered.

Cubans are not like other Spanish speakers, #2. Or weren’t, before Castro. They were the most European of the Latin American countries.

Most Cubans alive in Cuba today have known nothing but communism. Maybe it's the Americanized faction based in Miami that is stirring this pot. Let's hope so and maybe they will be willing to help us against the JoHo dictatorship.

China will be behind the scenes putting this down fast. They will protect their base so close to the US. China will do whatever is necessary to protect their interests, you can count on that.

One more reason to wish that PDT were still in the WH. He would have assisted the people of Cuba and then helped to turn their country back into the tourist paradise that it was when I was a young child.

Cubans are a rather "reserved," or slightly depressed group, as a whole. When I spoke with older Cubans, their eyes lit up and they became delightfully energized when discussing pre-revolution times. I saw many fine characteristics in the Cuban people. For example, they are masters at reconditioning anything of value and making it work. Not necessarily by conventional means, but effective, nonetheless. If a Cuban throws something away, rest assured, it is garbage.

The wife and I are saying more prayers for those brave Cuban souls. The neighborhood committees must have become weak over the decades. What the American public schools will not teach is that Communism and Oppression are one in the same, and the oppression usually takes the form of neighborhood committees that make sure everyone is a good little commie. Any suspicious behavior, like wanting more than your individual food quota, is immediately reported. The murder and imprisonment of the demonstrators, and their families, is no doubt already in progress.

What #10 describes is the Committee for Defense the Revolution (CDR) which can be found on EVERY individual block in Havana. These are the busybodies charged with knowing everything that goes on in their area. Easy to recognize as they have a CDR sign on their door (not well liked by the denizens).

Hmmm.....under Biden, things may get so bad that Americans begin to climb into rickety boats for the 90 mile voyage to the workers paradise Cuba.

Anything that can’t go on forever, won’t go on.
Yes, that includes Castro’s evil regime.
That reminds me, the two brothers probably feel a bit toasted now. And that DOES last forever.

The words of Warren Zevon ring true now what Cuba needs are lawyers, guns and money. Joe Biden will send none of that maybe they could use some solar panels or windmills we have plenty of those. There's a difference between a picnic and a revolution.

Assuming the chicoms don't intervene, the Cuban people need to get the government security forces on their side quickly and isolate the government. Once this happens, then the Castro family can expect to receive the Ceaușescu treatment. Recall what happened to Ceaușescu and his wife in 1989.

The communist regime in Cuba will soon be mowing down the protestors with bullets. And this is what the Xiden regime is prepared to do to Americans. The protests in Cuba will soon be forgotten.

Let's take a step back and look at the situation....why now?... and yes demonstrations take months to organize ...so who will benefit from this action...china and Venezuela...and it takes the air time from the fake media away from the broken streets of our large cities...and gives them something to draw attention away from broken promises to the inner city poor......all the while pushing demands for Americans to comply to their dictates...or else... there will be a knock on your door....I never said the lefties aren't smart... they're just mean...and very dangerous...soros is still p____that hitler didn't win...
