ROME - The Vatican’s bioethics academy and the World Medical Association on Friday called for an all-out effort to combat vaccine hesitancy and correct the “myths and disinformation” that are slowing the fight against the coronavirus.(Snip)They demanded that “all relevant stakeholders exhaust all efforts to...confront vaccine hesitancy by sending a clear message about the safety and necessity of vaccines and counteracting vaccine myths and disinformation.”(Snip)At a news conference Friday, representatives of the groups strongly rejected claims and questions about vaccine safety and ethics from reporters representing conservative and right-wing Catholic media organizations who complained that vaccine skeptics weren’t included among the speakers.

In a statement, Court Administrator Scott Stewart said the two municipal judges and Clerk of Courts Ted Kalo adopted a policy requiring vaccinations against the virus “Out of concern for the health and safety of the people of our community who are required to attend court proceedings.” (Snip) He said staff members were notified approximately six to eight weeks ago, with a deadline of July 2 to receive or schedule their first dose of a vaccination. In Kalo’s office, he is using vaccination cards as proof. Court employees who refuse vaccinations and are not exempt for medical reasons will be terminated,

Furious Democrats have behaved “childishly” by yelling and pounding their desks while Ohio Republican Jena Powell attempted to speak on an amendment to a state bill banning biological males from female sports. Jena Powell attempted to add an amendment to the Ohio NIL bill - the ‘Name.Image, Likeness’ bill - which allows college athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness. Ms Powell’s amendment would see biological males banned from competing in female sports.(Snip) “It’s crucial to preserving women’s rights and the integrity of women’s and girls’ sports,” she said.“Across our country, female athletes are currently losing scholarships, opportunities, medals, education and training opportunities.”

Barack Obama turns 60 over the summer.(Snip)Once the symbol of youthful hipness, the former boss of Hope and Change now lectures “young people” on what they should be doing. His legacy is being carried forward by 78-year-old Biden and the 81-year-old Pelosi.(Snip)History is radically revised every generation not just for what it teaches, but for what it doesn’t.(Snip)But how does a new generation learn from a past that isn’t allowed to exist on its own terms? Demonizing the past is a convenient way of obscuring it.(Snip)There’s no change without crisis, and without hope, there’s only hate.

WELLINGTON — The Ohio Republican Party estimates 20,000 to 25,000 people attended the “Save America” rally Saturday. Lorain County Republican Party Chairman David Arredondo said he'd personally estimated about 20,000 people were in attendance at former President Donald Trump’s first rally since leaving office. Arredondo said state Party Chair Bob Paduchik confirmed 20,000 to 25,000 attended the event held near the Lorain County Fairgrounds. He said it was a significant number of people, given the nine day notice attendees had for the event. What other personality--former president, rock star or actor--could pull this kind of crowd together on a short notice?” Arredondo said.

Like a washed-up singer reliving his glory days, former President Donald Trump largely stuck to his greatest hits when he kicked off his “Revenge Tour” Saturday in Wellington.(Snip)Even his reading of the cautionary tale “The Snake,” which describes a snake biting a woman who saved it from freezing to death,(Snip)He has largely used the snake as a metaphor for immigrants, one of his favorite targets, but it actually works better if one thinks of Trump as the snake.(Snip)He continued to pump venom into American democracy Saturday, insisting that he had won the 2020 presidential election in a “landslide.”

WELLINGTON — With windows and bumpers proclaiming "Trump won" and "Biden sucks," vehicles from all over the United States were parked Friday afternoon at the Lorain County Fairgrounds. They came from near and far--from New York to California, Michigan to Tennessee, Pennsylvania to Indiana--for the chance to see former President Donald Trump. (Snip) The forecast calls for possible thunderstorms to sweep through Wellington early in the day, probably giving way to cloudy skies before the rally gates open at 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

With the creation of June 19th ("Juneteenth") as a federal holiday, Democrats have one more claim to be the party of civil rights and equal opportunity for African Americans, though most Republicans also voted for the holiday. That claim has been promoted for decades by a compliant media, academia and high-profile politicians, but the facts say otherwise. From Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 to the mid-20th century, members of the Democratic Party, dominant in the South due to its opposition to civil and political rights for African Americans, were on the wrong side of civil rights.

When I read “To Kill A Mockingbird” for the first time--and every time since--I invariably pictured my father as Atticus Finch.(Snip)After I read of how Atticus gently sat Scout down on the porch swing and explained our imperfect world to her childish ears, I thought of each time my dad would do the same when I discovered some new hurt or crisis. His explanations of the deep obligations of integrity sounded like the heartfelt lessons in which my dad explained to me the importance of doing what’s right.(Snip)My dad taught me to respect and expect integrity, sacrifice, and wisdom from men.

Why us? Of all the fairgrounds in all the towns in all the country, why is former President Donald Trump coming to the Lorain County Fairgrounds?(Snip)The problem is that Trump is not your normal ex-president turned elder statesman. He has taken a sledgehammer to the foundation of democracy. He has continued to insist that the 2020 election was stolen from him, despite no evidence of widespread voter fraud.(Snip) He called his followers to Washington on Jan. 6 for a rally(Snip)He and his allies gave speeches in which they argued that the election was stolen before sending the enraged crowd marching toward the Capitol.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - No employer, either public or private, could require employees to receive vaccinations under GOP legislation pending in the Ohio House. Also, workers could not be fired as a result of refusing. The measure before the Republican-controlled House Health Committee has attracted multiple opponents of COVID-19 vaccines but goes further in addressing mandatory requirements for all vaccines, such as for the flu. "I believe in vaccines and scientific research. I also recognize that vaccination is a personal choice and that, for a variety of reasons, not all Ohioans can or want to receive vaccines," said Rep. Jennifer Gross, a Republican from West Chester

And the absurdity just keeps coming. The latest organization to act as the speech police for its employees is the Federal Reserve. The Fed’s employees are reportedly being trained to “avoid bias” in their language, including avoidance of terms like “Founding Fathers” and “grandfathered.” (Snip) “Bias-free language recognizes diversity and avoids stereotyping, demeaning, or excluding people on the basis of gender, race, ethnic group, religion, age, ability/disability, or sexual orientation,” the guidance states. (Snip) According to Fox News, a Federal Reserve spokesman claims that “The Federal Reserve has no language directives for employees.”
