Serial subway scammer Charles Barry’s vow to keep to the straight and narrow seems to have gone off the rails. Barry—who after racking up than 140 arrests over three decades vowed his life of crime was in his past—was busted on petty larceny, fraudulent accosting, criminal impersonation and possession of stolen property Friday following an incident at the subway station beneath Grand Central Terminal, said law enforcement sources. Barry approached a 53-year-old woman waiting on a line to buy a MetroCard and told her he worked for the MTA and could help her out, said police.

An investigative reporter (if any exist) should tally the cost of arresting, processing, jailing, and following people through the court and parole systems, all of which is borne by the taxpayers, leaving less to fix roads, fund public schools, etc. The burden to the city of just this one pest must be staggering.

This piece of filth is the perfect example of the reason for the three-strikes law. Most of us go through our entire lives without committing even one felony, whereas there are idiots like this guy whose entire lives are nothing but a criminal enterprise. He contributes nothing to society and the world would be a better place without him in it.

But it wasn't the fault Mr. Barry, it's the fault of systemic racism. He's not responsible for his own actions.

Rowdy revelers were caught on video beating up a hot dog vendor late Sunday—as all hell broke loose at Washington Square Park, police said. The chaos at the Greenwich Village greenspace resulted in the arrests of eight people, including a woman charged with biting an NYPD lieutenant, cops said Monday morning. But no busts were made in the alleged beatdown of the 65-year-old vendor, who was attacked at Fifth Avenue and Washington Square North just before 11 p.m., according to police. Disturbing video shows several people surrounding the man, in a bright yellow shirt, with one pummeling him in the face and knocking him down.

A man accused of mugging then spitting at a family of Filipino Americans is an illegal immigrant who was still loose on the streets of San Francisco because he was protected by that community’s sanctuary city policy—four separate times. Carlos Claros already had a lengthy rap sheet and was even on probation at the time of the April attack, but San Francisco repeatedly refused to cooperate with ICE and released him after each run-in, The Washington Times has learned. This time he approached a family of 18 people, including children, and tried to rob them at gunpoint, Patrick Elliott told ABC7, a San Francisco television station.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, however have not changed, allowing fully vaccinated people to go without a mask. In Denver-area hospitals, doctors tell FOX31 at least half of the unvaccinated COVID-19 patients are sick with the delta variant. The variant is significantly more contagious, and the symptoms patients feel are worse than from the original COVID-19 virus.
