Dozens of women went topless for New York City's annual Dyke March Saturday—as smaller than usual crowds turned out for Sunday's main Pride parade amid COVID restrictions. The Dyke March—which celebrates lesbian pride—began at Bryant Park and finished at Washington Square Park, where couples splashed around in the fountain and embraced. For some campaigners showing breasts in public is a form of protest to assert the right of women to dress as they wish. The main Pride parade Sunday is being touted as a virtual event, with a smaller scale march across three blocks. Organizers predict 'millions' will watch on TV.

Mexico City—As many as 50 people are missing after setting out on three-hour car trips this year between Mexico‘s industrial hub of Monterrey and the border city of Nuevo Laredo on a well-traveled stretch of road local media have dubbed “the highway of death.” Relatives say family members simply vanished. The disappearances, and last week’s shooting of 15 apparently innocent bystanders in Reynosa, suggest Mexico is returning to the dark days of the 2006-2012 drug war when cartel gunmen often targeted the general public as well as one another. “It’s no longer between the cartels; they are attacking the public,” said activist Angelica Orozco.

Serial subway scammer Charles Barry’s vow to keep to the straight and narrow seems to have gone off the rails. Barry—who after racking up than 140 arrests over three decades vowed his life of crime was in his past—was busted on petty larceny, fraudulent accosting, criminal impersonation and possession of stolen property Friday following an incident at the subway station beneath Grand Central Terminal, said law enforcement sources. Barry approached a 53-year-old woman waiting on a line to buy a MetroCard and told her he worked for the MTA and could help her out, said police.

The gangbanger accused of opening fire on a Bronx street inches away from two terrified children was inexplicably set free after a knifepoint robbery—and critics on Saturday demanded answers about why he was sprung in the first place. Michael Lopez was charged in the Manhattan robbery in January 2020, a crime he allegedly committed while on parole for other offenses.(Snip) Bronx Assistant District Attorney Janene Carter said in court Friday that Lopez was on parole for three felony convictions and had been charged in two pending cases, including “a violent felony offense, robbery in the first degree and a misdemeanor.”

New York's City's Washington Square Park which has been the scene of a number of late night brawls and scuffles with police over last few weeks has now become host to fighting of a different kind—unlicensed boxing matches complete with a referee and time keeper.(Snip) One fighter ended up dislocating his shoulder during the knockabout and had to have another man shove it back into its socket. Photographer Angel Zayas said there was no supervision whatsoever, nor did the NYPD attempt to break up the bouts. 'The NYPD did not enter the park to stop the fights there was a large crowd

As an unprecedented number of laws targeting LGBTQ youth made their way through state legislatures last year, a survey of the mental health of young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals in the U.S. revealed a shocking statistic. Of nearly 35,000 LGBTQ people ages 13-24, 94% of them reported that politics negatively affected their mental health.(Snip) Overall, 42% of LGBT youth “seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year,” while more than half of transgender and nonbinary youth considered taking their own lives. At least 35 of the 159 people still missing after the terrifying condo collapse in south Florida are thought to be Jewish, and Israel has sent crews from Tel Aviv to help the rescue effort. Search-and-rescue teams from Israel arrived in Florida to search for survivors in the ruins of what is left of the 12-story building, WPLG reported Saturday. Mexico sent a team as well, Reuters reported. Volunteers with Hatzalah, an emergency medical service organization for Jewish communities around the world, also came to the site to support local firefighters and rescue workers, according to reports.

A multi-agency search for a man accused of shooting a Florida police officer in the head ended Saturday morning after cops found the defiant suspect hiding in a Georgia property affiliated with a Black nationalist group.
Othal Wallace, whose senseless attack left the Daytona Beach officer in critical condition, was armed with flash bangs, two rifles and two handguns when police found him in a treehouse just outside Atlanta, authorities said. The hiding spot and the main house next to it are part of a heavily wooded property linked to a self-described militia dubbed the Not [expletive-ing] Around Coalition, or NFAC.

Defund for thee, but not for me. Freshman U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman—a champion of defunding cops who claims policing is rife with “white supremacy”—asked for and received a special police detail to guard his Yonkers home in the days following the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill insurrection, The Post has learned.
“About a week after the Jan. 6th incident at the Capitol, we received a request from the Congressman’s office for increased police presence at his residence,” Yonkers Police Department Detective Lt. Dean Politopoulos told The Post.(Snip) Politopoulos said police have not detected anything unusual in Bowman’s area for the last several years.

An Indiana high school teacher was fired and arrested this week after multiple students accused him of inappropriately touching them in a school bathroom and repeatedly making sexual comments in class, court documents show. Andrew Cowells, 47, also tried to watch at least two boys urinate, encouraged another to touch himself and told a class that he wanted a 15-year-old student to “grind” on him, police said in a probable cause affidavit obtained by local media. The now-fired social studies teacher was arrested on more than a dozen felonies Wednesday following a nearly two-month investigation.(Snip)The search turned up numerous images depicting nude children,

The CEO of Nike said the company is a 'brand of China' during a recent earnings call, defending the company's position in the country. The comments come months after the sportswear apparel company was embroiled in controversy over alleged human rights abuses in the country. This week, CEO John Donahoe conducted his quarterly earnings report for the company. He was asked about the company's plan in China by an analyst. 'We've been in China for over 40 years, still invested significant time and energy in China in the early days and today we're the largest sport brand there and we're a brand of China and for China,'
