During an interview that aired Friday with Keir Simmons of NBC News, Russian President Vladimir Putin called former President Donald Trump an extraordinary, talented and colorful individual.
Simmons said, “President Vladimir Putin tells us he’s going into next week’s summit with relations with the U.S. at an historic low.”
Putin said, “We have a bilateral relationship that has deteriorated to its lowest point in recent years.”
Simmons said, “You once described President Trump as a bright person, talented how would you describe President Biden?”
Putin said, “Well, even now, I believe that former U.S. president Mr. Trump is an extraordinary individual, talented individual.

Vice President Kamala Harris snapped at a Latina Univision anchor Wednesday, when pressed to answer when she would be visiting the southern border.
“I’m not finished,” Harris snapped, bobbed her head, and then chuckled before claiming she will visit the southern border. “I said I’m going to the border.”
“If we are going to deal with the problems at the border, we have to deal with the problems that cause people to go to the border,” Harris explained, attempting to excuse her lack of attention to the 21-year border crossing high of more than 180,000 in May: Harris’ press coverage

A Black mother slammed critical race theory (CRT) on Thursday, telling the Florida Board of Education that it was teaching hate and ruining the "greatest country in the world."
"Just coming off of May 31, marking the 100 years [since] the Tulsa riots, it is sad that we are even contemplating something like critical race theory, where children will be separated by their skin color and deemed permanently oppressors or oppressed in 2021," said mom Quisha King.
King's comments came after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis asked the school board to pass a rule banning CRT and associated ideas in schools.

Amid increased scrutiny of Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullor's lavish spending, including her reported purchases of multiple homes totaling upward of $3 million and the installation of fencing and an electric gate around one of those homes, the original ten BLM chapters are demanding more accountability and transparency from the BLM global network.
The BLM infighting comes on the heels of Cullors announcing she would step down from her role as the BLM foundation executive director as questions surrounding her finances swirled. Cullors, however, denied that her decision to resign had anything to do with that controversy, insisting she had planned to step away for more than a year.

Answer: He’s just not that into you. Or anyone, as Paul Farhi observes today on Twitter. Not only did Joe Biden wait longer for an open presser than any president in the past century, he’s also not doing sit-down interviews with print or TV outlets.
It’s “unusual,” Farhi comments. That’s an understatement: Lest anyone get the wrong idea, Farhi isn’t a crypto-righty at the WaPo. He’s one of their media-beat reporters, which makes this issue within his wheelhouse. It’s not surprising that Farhi or someone like him would raise Biden’s reluctance to face the press in practically any format as an issue.
What is surprising is that

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent a joint letter to the governors of the 48 other states asking them to send additional law enforcement staff and resources to help patrol their states' borders with Mexico. Ducey published a copy of the letter on Thursday afternoon, timing its publication with a border summit that Abbott kicked off in Del Rio, Texas.
In their letter, both Republican governors claim the administration of President Joe Biden "has proven unwilling or unable" to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, citing a 20-year high in migrant encounters in the month of May as evidence of an "open-border disaster."

WASHINGTON — A bipartisan group of 10 senators said Thursday that they had reached a tentative infrastructure deal, but skepticism from Republicans and impatience from Democrats left its prospects uncertain as lawmakers departed for the weekend. "We are discussing our approach with our respective colleagues, and the White House, and remain optimistic that this can lay the groundwork to garner broad support from both parties and meet America's infrastructure needs," said a joint statement from the senators, who include Mitt Romney, R-Utah; Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz.; Rob Portman, R-Ohio; and Jon Tester, D-Mont.
The deal includes $579 billion in new spending for a total of $1.2 trillion

Sen. Tom Cotton told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin his office has received "hundreds" of whistleblower complaints about the military’s new diversity and inclusion training, which he says amounts to "anti-American indoctrination."
Cotton, R-Ark., has aggressively fought back against such training. In March, he introduced legislation to ban critical race theory training from the military. He and Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, set up a website for whistleblower complaints to be directed to them earlier this month.
Cotton said he’d seen reports of "plummeting morale, growing mistrust between races and sexes

Life is tough, as the saying goes. And it's tougher when you're stupid.
Which brings us to the Democrats, who can't stop hazing Sen. Joe Manchin, the most moderate Democrat in the Senate.
According to The Week:
In the hours after Manchin declared on Sunday that he won't support the For the People Act, the phrase "He's a Republican" trended on Twitter. A Democratic congressman accused Manchin of voting to preserve Jim Crow. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) similarly proclaimed the senator was standing up for the GOP and voter suppression.
What a bunch of creeps.

Some of the folks on the left have been seething at Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), viewing them as the blockers to Democrats being able to eliminate the filibuster and seize total power.
There’s no question that Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema have been standing strong to protect the rules and defend the rights of the minority party.
But they’re not the only people, as some have pointed out, although they get most of the press. Democrats have a much deeper issue because some others are also not so happy with these efforts. But those Democrats are happy to remain more in the background and let Manchin be

For the last year or so, virologist and infectious diseases expert Dr. Steven Quay has been at the forefront of questioning the narrative of COVID-19’s origin, conducting studies, and analyzing the genetic properties that make up the viral strain that has sent the world into panic for the last 18 months. In Sunday’s Wall Street Journal Quay and UC Berkeley physics professor Richard Muller make an extremely strong, scientifically-based case that SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 infection, is a lab-created viral strain.
