Dems' court-packing threats may be backfiring

Jonathan Turley, one of the last honest and principled liberals in the public arena, suggests that the Democrats' threats to bully the justices are backfiring and that the Court is sending strong warning signals to them. In a post to his own website yesterday, the George Washington University law professor wrote: Chief Justice John Roberts and his colleagues seem to be sending a message that the Court is not so rigidly ideological as Democratic members and activists suggest. He believes that a series of unanimous court decisions as the current term ends "seem[s] to be sending a message that the Court is not so rigidly

Interesting. Perhaps the extreme crazies have dramatically overplayed their hand on trying to intimidate the SCOTUS. Let's hope that this is the case, and they go on a conservative 'tear' to stabilize things against these leftist crazies.

When Democrats are in power they have appointed partisan activists on the court. Republicans have appointed a mixed bag of Liberals and Conservatives. President Trump appointed Constitutionalists who try their best to adhere to what the Constitution and its many amendments say. This has been a welcome change from activist judges who have acted as legislatures that ignore the Constitution. It is nice to see the Supreme Court Justices are growing some spines in the face of Democrat bullying.

Quite frankly, I do not trust the SCOTUS since John Roberts decided to rewrite the Obamacare law. Shouldn’t that have thrown up a red flag to the other Justices or did they know the fix was in? When they declined to hear the case regarding the 2020 election, I knew the court was politically corrupt. The justices, I believe, will toe the line on what the democrats consider important cases because they certainly do not want what happened to Antonin Scalia to happen to them.

FTA: ''(AOC) questioned "just, functionally, the idea that nine people, that a nine person court, can overturn laws that thousand — hundreds and thousands of legislators, advocates and policymakers drew consensus on.'' AOC never learned that the Supreme Court (supposedly) rules in accordance with the Constitution, as amended, and not as partisan politicians. Did she never study our system of government?

The Supremes have to earn their way back from lack of courage regarding the election fraud...Americans have no respect for them now... as more and more evidence comes forth that obama is running the show from the Oval Office...the swamp is getting nervous... I really think the war in Israel did it... more people were upset by the funding of Hamas by sleepy Joe for rockets to rain down on Israel and no amount of "so called demonstrations" here in the states is pushing their narrative along... no matter how much obama tries to hurt America...God steps in...obama is determined to bring America to it's knees...a Benedict Arnold...talking out of both sides of his mouth...

#7 speaks for me. I would also add that I don't trust the SCOTUS since it decided the election fraud cases presented to it, like the State of Texas case, didn't have standing. Roberts, how can election fraud in the face of our Constitution and election laws not have standing?

We're waiting to see if the Supreme Court just talks or ACTS so we can tell if they are really for the U.S. Constitution, As the saying goes, Actions speak louder than words. Patriots pray for the SC, they are the thin thread that holds our laws together. Where the law stops, tyranny begins.

The true role of the Supreme Court is to rule on the constitutionality of laws enacted by Congress. The fact that they have inappropriately crossed that boundary changes nothing. What AOC doesn’t understand (among many other things) is that the popularity of any particular law with either Party is irrelevant. Electing fools like her to roam the halls of the Capital is leading us ever closer to a banana republic.

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida keeps stacking wins. He did so again after news broke yesterday evening that Royal Caribbean, one of the top two, major cruise lines that operate out of Florida, will not require so-called “vaccine passports” for passengers. This comes after DeSantis used the state’s power over the ports to ban the practice. While many suggested the cruise lines would succeed by simply moving to another state, that doesn’t appear to be the case. After the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill, many corporations chose to make grand announcements that they would no longer send political contributions to any politician who supported the attempt to overturn the presidential election results. Some organizations are quietly starting up. For example, Citigroup suspended all political contributions through its PAC for the first quarter of 2021 while Morgan Stanley singled out politicians who opposed the election results. SAN DIEGO — A federal judge on Friday struck down California's ban on assault weapons as unconstitutional but left plenty of time for the state to file an appeal. Judge Roger T. Benitez, who has favored pro-gun groups in past rulings, called the AR-15 rifle, used in many of the nation's deadliest mass shootings, "a perfect combination of a home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment." "Yet, the State of California makes it a crime to have an AR15 type rifle," Benitez wrote. "Therefore, this Court declares the California statutes to be unconstitutional." He praised the AR-15 as a rifle that should be formally protected by the law for its "militia readiness."

It may be that being 88 now is like being, say, 78 a few decades ago. So despite being the oldest, this might not be the most age-impaired Senate in our history. Millions of sub-Saharan blacks seek to immigrate to America. They apparently haven’t gotten the memo that this is a wretched land of systemic anti-black racism. When they get here, they’re strangers in a strange land. English is usually not their first language. Their skin color tends to be very black, not the lighter color of American blacks who have an average of about 25% white blood in them. Despite those handicaps, they do better than American-born blacks. Compared to American-born blacks, their income is about a third higher, their poverty rates are significantly lower, their educational achievement is higher, and their marriage rate is double.
