The single most important fact about the early 21st century is the rapid aging of almost every developed nation other than the United States: Canada, Europe and Japan are getting old fast, older than any functioning society has ever been and faster than any has ever aged... Two and a half months ago, when Texas Governor Greg Abbott axed the state’s mask mandate and other COVID-related restrictions on businesses and people, Joe Biden called the move a “huge mistake” and “Neanderthal thinking.” Dr. Anthony Fauci, who advises Biden, called it “risky” and “potentially dangerous.” Both were proven wrong when weeks later Texas experienced no surge in cases. A dumbfounded Fauci refused to admit he was wrong and claimed that a spike in cases and deaths would show up as a lagging indicator.
For more than a year, honest and impartial scientific exploration of the origins of the Covid-19 virus has been blocked, with consideration of the possibility that it was engineered in the Wuhan Institute of Virology virtually suppressed, mocked as a “conspiracy theory.” This has had enormous real-world consequences, not merely because it let off the hook China – and Dr. Fauci, who approved American money flowing to gain-of-function research there on coronaviruses -- but because “an engineered virus behaves differently from a naturally evolved one, and this has implications for how it can best be fought.”
President Joe Biden has been moving at breakneck speed to undo every policy of his predecessor that he can, but he seems not to be giving any thought to whether the underlying policy is good.
If former President Donald Trump made it, Biden will unmake it—even if he later has to remake it, as in the case of recently resumed border wall construction.
Among the orders worth retaining that Biden nonetheless axed is Executive Order 13980. That order required agencies that issue regulations with criminal penalties to “be explicit about what conduct is subject to criminal penalties and the ‘mens rea’ standard applicable to those offenses.”

Wade is a science journalist who has written articles for the big publishers. His Origin of COVID article is a clear-eyed analysis of what we do and don’t know. He tells us the details that lead a reasonable reader to conclude that the Wuhan Virology Institute created the COVID19 virus and through sloppy techniques released the virus. The disease spread rapidly, killing millions and attacking elderly populations in particular.

A Texas judge tossed out the National Rifle Association’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition on Tuesday, allowing a lawsuit brought against the group by the New York attorney general to move forward.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Harlin Hale said the NRA “did not file the bankruptcy petition in good faith,” arguing that the filing was made in an effort to avoid the lawsuit by state attorney general Letitia James’ office. The suit aims to dissolve the group over allegations of financial impropriety.
“The question the court is faced with is whether the existential threat facing the NRA is the type of threat that the Bankruptcy Code is meant to protect against,” Hale wrote.
Economics professor Doug Allen wanted to know why so many early models used to create COVID-19 lockdown policies turned out to be highly incorrect. What he found was that a great majority were based on false assumptions and “tended to over-estimate the benefits and under-estimate the costs.” He found it troubling that policies such as total lockdowns were based on those models.

Rather, they just assumed an exponential growth of cases of infection day after day until herd immunity is reached.

In the last twelve months we have been ceaselessly bombarded by claims that America is a racist society in which Black people are oppressed by White people.
This is a truly astonishing claim because nothing could be further from the truth.

I've got to agree with Mark that demography is the most consequential issue of our time. And no leader is talking about it. A few countries take ineffectual steps to stem the population decline; the rest ignore it completely. The only civilized country I know of that is growing in population through reproduction, not just immigration, is Israel.
