Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot attempted to defend her racist interview policy on Wednesday, explaining why she would only give interviews to “journalists of color” and exclude white journalists on the occasion of her two-year anniversary in office. In a letter to news organizations, and in a series of tweets, Lightfoot claimed there was a racial “imbalance” in the news media, especially in the City Hall press corps, and that she wanted to use her position to force journalism to become more diverse. (Tweets) In her letter, reported by CBS Chicago affiliate WTTW, Lightfoot cited the county’s “historic reckoning around systemic racism” and suggested

A few months back, several counties in far-left Oregon began an effort to secede from the state and become part of Idaho. Now they have voted for it. It’s not a done deal yet, but they are off to a strong start. These are simply people who are tired of being associated with the radical left-wing politics of Portland. The Hill reports:Oregon counties vote to secede to IdahoVoters in five rural Oregon counties approved measures on Tuesday to consider joining the state of Idaho, a part of a long-shot grassroots movement to break with a state dominated by liberal voters west of the Cascade Mountains.

Former President Barack Obama called Donald Trump a “corrupt motherf–ker,” “madman” and a “racist, sexist pig” to people behind the scenes, a new book claims. Obama had actually preferred Trump as president over Sen. Ted Cruz when the two were locked in a Republican primary battle, a forthcoming book by writer Edward-Isaac Dovere says.“I didn’t think it would be this bad,” he later told donors, the Guardian reported, citing Dovere’s “Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Trump.”“I didn’t think we’d have this racist, sexist pig,” Obama is quoted as saying.

I loved President Trump because he stood up for the ordinary people of America, those who for so long had been kept in cultural servitude by the political elite. Trump endowed ordinary Americans with a sense of possibilities by returning manufacturing jobs to America, restoring our sovereignty as a nation free of global institutions, and, above all, ending the atmosphere of political correctness that had choked free expression for decades. Then, when the elite saw everyday Americans rising above their station, it decided to put them back in their servitude by depriving Trump of a second term, by whatever means necessary. Now the high-paying jobs are disappearing,

On Monday, the delayed due date for filing federal taxes for the last calendar year, the White House made a theatrical show of releasing President Biden’s 2020 tax returns. In so doing, the new administration wanted to show a contrast with Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, who did not release his tax returns. But while the White House emphasized the release of Biden’s returns, it does not want reporters to scrutinize the content of those returns, because doing so would highlight a pattern of hypocritical behavior by the current president and his family. To wit: For the fourth year running, the First Family used a questionable tax loophole

During and after the 2020 election, commentators frequently touted Joe Biden’s character as a major point in his favor. If Trump was unpredictable, aggressive, and uncouth, Biden stood in stark contrast: reliable, collegial, and, above all, empathetic. As Peter Wehner put it in The Atlantic, “In the entire history of American presidential campaigns, there may never have been a wider gap in empathy than between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. And it has rarely mattered more.” This was no outlier. Forbes ran a story headlined, “How Empathy Defines Biden.” CNN quoted his many endorsers, all of whom invoked his empathy. Slate summed it up: “Joe Biden is the empathy candidate.”
