The first question a Portland police officer asked the man beaten and held at gunpoint by antifa and Black Lives Matter “protesters” on a city street on Wednesday was “what did you do to agitate the crowd?”
And that tells you everything about why militant thugs run the streets of Portland with impunity. The cops blame the victims. Worse, victims who dare defend themselves become the bad guys.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law on Friday banning the teaching of critical race theory in public schools and universities.
"Now more than ever, we need policies that bring us closer together – not rip us apart. As governor, I firmly believe that not one cent of taxpayer money should be used to define and divide young Oklahomans by their race or sex," Stitt, a Republican, said in a statement obtained by the Washington Examiner.
The measure prohibits schools from teaching students that "one race or sex is inherently superior to another" and that "an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist

LONDON — Britain's governing Conservative Party made further inroads in the north of England on Friday, winning a special election in the post-industrial town of Hartlepool for a parliamentary seat that the main opposition Labour Party had held since 1974. Managing to present themselves as the party of change despite having led the U.K. for 11 years, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservatives extended their grip on parts of England that had been Labour strongholds for decades, if not a century. Many of these seats that have flipped from red to blue voted heavily in 2016 for Britain’s departure from the European Union.

On Wednesday, Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a combat veteran, introduced new legislation to ban critical race theory (CRT) from being taught at military service academies.
“Critical Race Theory is based on a massive and purposeful misunderstanding of the American founding, American history, and America as it exists today,” Green said in a press statement. “This is a Marxist ideology created to tear American institutions down. It teaches Americans and members of the Armed Services to judge one another by the color of their skin instead of by the ‘content of their character.’

The Tennessee General Assembly has banned the teaching of critical race theory, passing a law at the very end of the legislative session to withhold funding from public schools that teach about white privilege. Republicans in the House made the legislation a last-minute priority, introducing provisions that ban schools from instructing students that one race bears responsibility for the past actions against another, that the United States is fundamentally racist or that a person is inherently privileged or oppressive due to their race.
Similar proposals surfaced in other states this year, including one in Idaho that has been signed into law by the governor. Texas Republicans

As we previously reported, the jobs report came out today and it was a disaster for the Biden regime. Not only was it bad, it was so much lower than what they’d predicted it would be, Axios described it as the biggest miss in the history of the report.
Their reactions to it immediately showed they had no understanding of what the problem was or why it was so bad — that at least in part, one has to consider that people are not returning to work because of the extension of the unemployment benefits. As Charles Payne observed, the jobs are there, but if the government is subsidizing you

Confident that the Biden Administration’s policies would produce a robust jobs report for April, liberal media ran headlines and stories promising job growth numbers that proved to exceed reality by more than seven hundred thousand, and as much as 1.7 million.
As CNSNews.com reported, Friday’s U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report reveals that the unemployment rate increased slightly in April as the ranks of the unemployed grew by 102,000, with the month’s job growth failing to reach even half that of recent months:
“Contrary to bullish expectations, the unemployment rate actually ticked up a tenth of a point to 6.1 percent in April

Democratic state Rep. Harold Dutton on Friday revived and helped advance a bill that would restrict transgender students from participating in school sports, in what appears to be a retaliatory effort directed at members of his own party for sinking one of his bills.
Senate Bill 29, abhorred by fellow Democrats, would require the University Interscholastic League to force students to play on the sports teams based on their biological sex instead of their gender identity.
The bill, which already passed in the Senate, is a priority of Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. Dutton, who chairs the House Public Education committee

A combination of factors is driving a wave of Democratic retirements in the House as Republicans look to flip the chamber in 2022.
The census is giving deep-red Texas and Florida another congressional district. And Republican-dominated state legislatures will be able to draw maps that make red districts redder and force two Democrats to vie for the same House seat.
Democrats will get their chance to make blue districts bluer in New York, Illinois, and California, so any bellyaching they do will be mostly subdued — except where they can claim GOP racism in drawing districts in states of the old South.

ATLANTA — Keisha Lance Bottoms, the first-term Atlanta mayor who rose to national prominence this past year with her stern yet empathetic televised message to protesters but has struggled to rein in her city’s spike in violent crime, will not seek a second term in office, Bottoms announced on Twitter on Thursday night. “As Derek and I have given thoughtful prayer and consideration to the season now before us,” Bottoms wrote in an online letter, referring to her husband, Derek Bottoms, “it is with deep emotions that I now hold my head high, and choose not to seek another term as mayor.”

The Biden Administration’s latest failure has made history. After economists predicted an addition of around one million new jobs to the economy, the actual number came in at a dismal 266,000. That makes it the worst miss in history and an absolutely pathetic showing for Joe Biden’s “build back better” strategy.
Not only did we not add anywhere near the number of jobs expected, but the unemployment rate actually went up to 6.1%. The reason this is happening isn’t just bad luck. This can be directly linked to Joe Biden and his party’s insistence on showering people with “unemployment” benefits that last into the fall.

"The big lie" is perhaps the liberal media's favorite phrase nowadays. Shorthand, of course, for saying it's a lie to claim that the 2020 presidential election was tainted by fraud.
So if the MSM hates lies, you'd think they'd welcome the truth. But seems like they only want "truth" that fits their liberal narrative. Speaking inconvenient truths can get you "in trouble."
Take Florida-based Politico reporter Marc Caputo, appearing on today's Morning Joe to discuss the election law that Gov. Ron DeSantis signed yesterday. Caputo prefaced his remarks by saying:
