Just days before a verdict is expected in the high profile Derek Chauvin case, Florida leaders want to make sure any demonstrations in the Sunshine State don't get out of hand.
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed the so-called "anti-riot" bill into law, which places tougher penalties on protesters who engage in violent rallies.
"We're not gonna let the mob win the day," DeSantis said during a news conference in Polk County, calling the plan the "strongest anti-rioting" legislation in the country.
"The state of Florida takes public safety very seriously," he said.

In 2019, Rina Shnerb, a 17-year-old girl who had been hiking in Israel with her father and brother, was blown up by a bomb. Rabbi Eitan Shnerb, who ran a charity that handed out clothes and food to the poor, had enough time to kiss Rina on the forehead, before she died.
"I will say of the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust," the Rabbi at her gravesite chanted the words of Psalm 91. "Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the recompense of the wicked."

The math teacher who spoke out against a New York City school's anti-racism curriculum has been 'relieved of his teaching duties', it was confirmed Monday.
Grace Church School teacher Paul Rossi was ousted after he accused the $57,000-a-year school of indoctrinating students last week.
Topher Nichols, the school spokesman, told DailyMail.com Monday: 'I can confirm that Paul was relieved of his teaching duties.
'He has been invited to spend the remainder of his contract with the school contributing to a new task force that will review best practices nationwide around belonging.'

“It was 60 years ago this week that an uncertain new president launched an ill-conceived military venture of astonishing naivety... 1,400 U.S.-trained Cuban exiles would land at the Bay of Pigs… It was an unmitigated disaster… Kennedy had learned the hard way not to blindly trust the advice of his decorated military and intelligence chiefs. (Beltway media stalwart and former Democrat White House official Lawrence Hass writing in The Hill, April, 12.)
And yet again, rather than go through the trouble of concocting their own propaganda, communist Cuba’s KGB-founded and -mentored media simply transcribed the U.S. beltway media. Think I exaggerate?

Christianity exhorts its adherents to be charitable, but it is really charitable to affirm people in a belief system that tells them that hatred, contempt, and violence are blessed by the deity? The question is pertinent because recently in Nigeria and France, Catholic bishops have used the money donated by their own Catholic people to build mosques for Muslims. Charity, foolishness, or both? History will be the judge, but we can see right now a great deal of what is coming.
Gloria.tv reported Saturday that in France, “Tours Diocese donated money for the construction of a local mosque,” and that “Tours Bishop Vincent Jordy justified his donation..."

It wasn't hard for Planned Parenthood to shed Margaret Sanger. What did the faded black and white photos of the baby parts organization's founder have to do with it today?
If the Democrats can casually jettison Jefferson and Jackson, Planned Parenthood dumping Sanger was even easier.
And, as Alexis McGill Johnson, the abortion group's current president writes in a New York Times op-ed, "I’m the Head of Planned Parenthood. We’re Done Making Excuses for Our Founder."
The PP boss belatedly concedes that Sanger was a racist who hung out with the Klan, but inevitably reframes it all through the lens of critical race theory.

Mike Mitchell, co-founding guitarist of "Louie Louie" rockers the Kingsmen, died Friday at age 77.
Dick Peterson, the band's drummer since 1963, confirmed Mitchell's death in a statement to Rolling Stone. He said Mitchell, the Kingsmen's sole remaining original member, "peacefully passed away," but no cause of death was announced.
"We are deeply saddened by Mike’s passing. He was the kindest and most generous man on the planet,” Peterson said. "For the past 57 years, we have been playing colleges, fairs, and festivals, vintage car shows and rock n’ roll shows throughout the USA. Mike is irreplaceable."

A longtime nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital has been charged in Miami federal court with making threats to kill Vice President Kamala Harris, which she recorded in a series of videos she sent to her husband in prison.
Federal authorities say the threats from Niviane Petit Phelps, a 39-year-old mother of three who lives in Miami Gardens, were serious enough that she practiced at a gun range and applied for a concealed weapons permit.
In the five videos, according to a Secret Service complaint, Phelps expressed rage over the victory of President Joe Biden and Harris. But political anger wasn’t the only motivation, according to the complaint.

China is considering sending troops to Afghanistan after the planned U.S. military withdrawal in coming month. “China may send peacekeeping force to Afghanistan after US troops leave,” the Hong Kong daily South China Morning Post reported Friday, citing senior Chinese national security experts.
The report comes after this week’s announcement by President Joe Biden to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan. According to the plan, 2,500 U.S. servicemen and a further 7,000 allied NATO troops will leave the country by September 11, 2021.
Following the Biden White House announcement, China raised the alarm about the security situation in the Taliban-ridden country close to its western borders.

Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskovitz has poured over $5 million into a network of nonprofits run by Black Lives Matter leader Patrisse Cullors, according to financial disclosure records, raising questions about whether this relationship played a role in the company's decision to censor unflattering news articles about the activist last week.
The social media giant blocked its users from posting links to a New York Post story that revealed Cullors, a self-described Marxist, spent $3.2 million on high-end real estate as her Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation raked in millions in donations.
Facebook said the reporting violated its "privacy and personal information policy."

No matter how much they hate us, America's enemies will always agree to help us commit suicide.
That makes John Kerry's latest diplomatic triumph a little less impressive.
The agreement was reached by U.S. special envoy for climate John Kerry and his Chinese counterpart Xie Zhenhua during two days of talks in Shanghai last week, according to a joint statement.
The two countries “are committed to cooperating with each other and with other countries to tackle the climate crisis, which must be addressed with the seriousness and urgency that it demands,” the statement said.

Nine years ago, the New York Times was accusing John Boehner of racism. Now it’s eager to lap up every drop of vomitous bile from the former Republican House Speaker.
When Boehner asked Obama to move his speech by one day to avoid clashing with a Republican debate, NBC political analyst Richard Wolffe suggested that Boehner only did it because of "the color of his skin". Wolffe meant Obama's skin, not Boehner's. [SNIP] Since then Boehner has followed the usual career track of former RINOs from “worse than Hitler” to “sleazy lobbyist” to “author of unnecessary memoir bashing Trump”.
