Eight Republican members of the House Committee on Homeland Security have just returned from a fact-finding mission along the southern U.S. border, specifically in the Rio Grande Valley sector of Texas. They have compiled some “shocking realities” in a 10-point follow-up report released Wednesday.
“The Donna Processing Facility costs $19.2 million per month to operate. Members were told that $50,000 per month is coming out of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s operational funds to pay for diapers and other consumables that were not budgeted for,” the lawmakers said in their report, also noting that 40% of the border agents have been pulled

President Biden’s U.N. ambassador wants the world to know that the Declaration of Independence and the principles espoused within are laced with “White supremacy.” Linda Thomas-Greenfield made the blanket comments about founding documents this week while speaking to the Al Sharpton-founded National Action Network (NAN). “I have seen for myself how the original sin of slavery weaved White supremacy into our founding documents and principles,” she said.(Snip) She did, however, lament a rise in hate crimes and the “bullying, discrimination, and violence that Asian Americans face every day—especially since the outbreak of COVID-19.” Ms. Thomas-Greenfield noted that continuing struggles with

Border Patrol agents stopped a trailer at a border checkpoint in Texas and discovered 18 adults crammed in a space under the boards and two children stuffed into a side panel. Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero of the Del Rio Sector tweeted photos of the illegal immigrants packed in the trailer so tight they were nearly lying atop one another with barely room to move.
Most of them held their arms down along their body to make more room in the space that appeared to be no more than 18 inches deep. Tarps and bags were on the bed of the trailer to conceal the immigrants

Vice President Kamala Harris said Wednesday she has no plans to visit the U.S. southern border but she’s looking forward to a trip soon to Mexico and Guatemala to address the core causes of surging migration from Central America. She also cautioned that her work isn’t likely to show noticeable results anytime soon. “It will take some time to see the benefits of that work,” Ms. Harris said. “These are not issues that are going to be addressed overnight in terms of the root causes.”(Snip) Ms. Harris said the U.S. needs to provide the region with economic development aid, to give “some hope

The Texas nonprofit Family Endeavors was awarded its largest-ever contract in an effort to mitigate the massive influx of migrant children arriving at the southern border. The $530 million no-bid contract was awarded after Family Endeavors hired Biden transition official Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, Axios reported. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration is currently “engaged with NASCAR and Country Music TV,” among multiple other venues, in an effort to reach White conservatives who may be hesitant to get vaccinated against COVID-19. During a press briefing Monday, Ms. Psaki was asked to address a New York Times report that said rural states such as Mississippi, Ohio and Oklahoma are seeing a lackluster demand for the vaccine. Ms. Psaki said the White House was addressing the problem primarily at the local level but that other measures had been taken to “get directly connected to White conservative communities”

Bernie Madoff has died in prison at the age of 82. The disgraced financier died on Wednesday morning from natural causes according to sources cited by The Associated Press. Madoff is the most prolific Ponzi scheme scammer in American history, targeting 37,000 people in 136 countries over several decades. Last June, he asked for compassionate release claiming he was dying from kidney disease. He was denied by a judge who said he'd committed 'one of the most egregious financial crimes' in US history. He robbed victims of $64.8 billion, taking one's money to pay off the other and fake investments, for years before finally being arrested
