There is widespread support for using federal money to improve the nation’s infrastructure. Donald Trump favored doing so, but never put forth legislation.
Now, Joe Biden has unveiled an infrastructure bill of sorts. Unfortunately, his proposal is so bad that even the Washington Post has noticed.
The first problem with Biden’s bill is that it isn’t much about infrastructure. The Post reports:
Many economic experts agree that significant investments in roads, bridges and other infrastructure is necessary for the country’s long-term health, and spending when interest rates are this low is a wise idea. But some were surprised to see that only about 5 percent of the bill

A knife-wielding man on parole for attempted murder randomly attacked a Hassidic couple walking with their 1-year-old in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday—slashing all three family members, cops and police sources said.
The family of three was taking a stroll on State Street near Battery Park at about 5:50 p.m. when the maniac passed by—and then turned around and came at them with a blade, according to sources and the NYPD. He slashed the father on the head, the mother on the lip and the baby on the chin, the officials said. The unhinged creep ran after the family,

Overreach in haste, “splinter” at leisure? It’s been mighty quiet lately on the so-called For The People Act, the massive bill that would federalize election jurisdiction and end voter-ID requirements. Until now, Joe Manchin and the filibuster appeared to be the Democrats’ only obstacles, but the New York Times reports that other Senate Democrats might also be peeling away: Democrats in Congress are quietly splintering over how to handle the expansive voting rights bill that they have made a centerpiece of their ambitious legislative agenda, potentially jeopardizing their chances of countering a Republican drive to restrict ballot access in states across the country.

The CEO of Delta Airlines is now calling Georgia’s new voting law “unacceptable”. This is a 360-degree reversal of a statement released last Friday by the company, headquartered in Atlanta. That was then, this is now. There is no other way to look at a statement released today by Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian but to see it as a massive cave to angry Democrats looking to drive a wedge between Georgia voters. The bill, SB 202, was signed into law last Thursday. Ahead of President Joe Biden's official introduction of a massive tax and "infrastructure" plan Wednesday afternoon, former President Donald Trump released a blistering statement blasting the proposal. Here is the statement in full: Joe Biden’s radical plan to implement the largest tax hike in American history is a massive giveaway to China, and many other countries, that will send thousands of factories, millions of jobs, and trillions of dollars to these competitive Nations. The Biden plan will crush American workers and decimate U.S. manufacturing, while giving special tax privileges to outsourcers, foreign and giant multinational corporations.Biden promised to “build back better”—but the country he is building up,

A voting reform bill in Georgia has sparked lawsuits, boycotts, and mass outrage among Democrats, who describe the law as a revival of Jim Crow-era racism. But much of the heated rhetoric surrounding the bill, which Republican Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law on Thursday, misrepresents what the reforms will accomplish.
The debate over whether Georgia’s law constitutes “despicable voter suppression,” as Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, has claimed, or necessary updates to the state code is significant. Democrats in Washington have used the specter of the law to push a sweeping federal bill aimed at overhauling all elections. They have even threatened to weaken or end the filibuster

Experience in the schools that have opened bears that out. There have not been cases of widespread transmission of COVID in reopened schools. That’s undoubtedly because children are nearly immune to COVID. And their teachers retire long before they reach the COVID-vulnerable post-65 age group.

On Wednesday, First Lady Jill Biden will celebrate National Border Control Day.
Well, sort of.
March 31 would have been Cesar Chavez’s 94th birthday, and the president’s wife is scheduled to attend a ceremony honoring the late labor leader at his United Farm Workers union’s first headquarters in California’s Central Valley.
Chavez’s lifelong advocacy for tight borders and against illegal immigration are the reasons his birthday is increasingly celebrated as National Border Control Day. But the first lady isn’t likely to mention any of that, especially given her husband’s responsibility for sparking the current border disaster.
The Left’s inversion of Chavez into a prophet of open borders is the reason the president’s staff strategically

Think about the logical insanity of this position for a moment…. According to the Biden administration the economy is in trouble, people are struggling, and congress needs to spend trillions to bail out state, local and federal governments along with sending income subsidies to all Americans as the economic crisis around COVID continues.Due to policies on energy, regulation and the COVID virus, simultaneously food prices are going higher, fuel prices are up 30 percent, overall energy prices are rising, transportation costs increasing and the inflationary impact on the middle-class is eating up their limited paychecks.
AT THIS EXACT MOMENT the same administration is now proposing a tax increase.

Two people inside the DOJ leaked a story about Matt Gaetz (R-FL) being under DOJ/FBI investigation to the New York Times. The essential elements of the article are that Gaetz had a relationship with a 17-year-old woman, and paid for her to travel; ergo the DOJ/FBI is investigating “sex trafficking.” Presumably AG Bill Barr opened the investigation. However, Matt Gaetz vehemently denies everything about the claims, and instead says the FBI and DOJ were recently conducting a sting operation -with his cooperation- against a former DOJ lawyer named David McGee who was extorting Gaetz for $25 million.

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ statewide mask mandate Wednesday, stripping the governor of one of his last remaining tools to curb large-scale spread of COVID-19 as the state stands on the precipice of another surge in infections.
The conservative-leaning court ruled 4-3 that Evers violated state law by unilaterally issuing multiple emergency orders to extend the mandate for months. The court found Evers needed legislative approval to issue more orders after the initial 60-day mandate he issued in August expired.
“The question in this case is not whether the governor acted wisely; it is whether he acted lawfully.

Great news, but with a couple of caveats. In a release this morning, Pfizer declared that a trial involving 2,000 children between ages 12 and 15 showed its vaccine to be 100% effective against COVID-19 infections. That’s an even better rate than its previous Phase 3 trials among adults, in an environment with more variants in the mix to boot. With the FDA already allowing Pfizer vaccinations at 16 years and up, the news could touch off the next phase of the battle to end the pandemic — with middle and high schools as the battlegrounds. So what’s the catch?

Did you take the SATs to try to get into college? Your kids may not have to. More than 1,300 schools have become “test optional,” meaning students need not submit SAT scores. Some, like the entire University of California system, now won’t even look at scores. There are seemingly legitimate reasons to oppose the tests. Richer kids often get tutoring that gives them an advantage.Critics claim the tests are culturally biased and say that’s why Blacks and Latinos don’t score as well. But that doesn’t explain why Asians do so well. In fact, Asians get the best SAT scores.I assume it’s more about culture and parenting.

There are so many true and rotten things one can say about progressive values, but I think most will agree that one of the worst things progressives do is attack boys. There’s a reason for this: If raised right, boys are hardwired for courage. We see this in a wonderful way in a video someone posted showing an unknown teen in Loudon County, Virginia (which is famous for canning Dr. Seuss and trying to dox “white supremacist” parents) politely refusing to go along with his white teacher’s insistent racism.
The short video brings together a lot of newsworthy trends.

Just a third of Americans questioned in an NPR/Marist poll released on Tuesday say they approve of Biden's handling of the issue of immigration, with 53% saying they disapprove of his performance. While two-thirds of Democrats say they approve of how Biden has handled the issue in the first two months of his presidency, approval plunges to 27% among independents and to just 5% among Republicans.

Diversity and inclusion’s getting a shuffle. As covered by RedState’s streiff over the weekend, the Department of Defense has added an office of “diversity and inclusion.”Via Twitter, the U.S. Special Operations Command christened its first chief, Richard Torres-Estrada: USSOCOM welcomes our new Chief of Diversity & Inclusion, Mr. Richard Torres-Estrada. We look forward to his contribution in enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of #SOF through diversity of talent, helping us recruit the best of the best. Some considered it a curious choice, as the man hadn’t necessarily placed great emphasis on including things that are diverse. As noted by Tucker Carlson, Richard had previously compared Trump to a certain mustached maniac:

Radical Democrats, not content to control all three electoral elements of the federal government, are urging that two new states, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C., be added to the union. Legislation to make Washington D.C, a state has already been drawn up. Given that Democrats control both D.C., and Puerto Rico overwhelmingly, this would ensure at least four more permanently Democrat-controlled seats in the U.S. Senate, thus potentially ensuring Democrat control of that body for generations. Democrats correctly view the nineteen months between now and the 2022 Congressional elections as their window of opportunity to consolidate their electoral stranglehold on American politics.

Puff puff passed! New York lawmakers on Tuesday night passed a sweeping bill legalizing recreational pot. The state Legislature greenlit the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act after hours of debate that extended into the night. “Today is an historic day for New Yorkers,” state Sen. Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan), one of the bill’s sponsors, said in a statement.“I could not be more proud to cast my vote to end the failed policies of marijuana prohibition in our state, and begin the process of building a fair and inclusive legal market for adult-use cannabis.”

Americans struggling to survive on federal benefits have waited weeks for word on their share of the $1.9 trillion stimulus. Some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens have been waiting weeks for the next round of promised financial aid from President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” coronavirus relief package, with no indication of when it would come. Chief among those are the millions of elderly Americans who depend on federal assistance to survive. As of March 24, nearly 30 million had yet to receive their portion, largely because the Social Security Administration had “not sent the necessary payment files” to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
