Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday downplayed concerns from centrist Democrats who warned party leaders against potentially overturning the election result of a closely contested House seat in Iowa.
The House Administration Committee is considering a challenge from Democrat Rita Hart, who is contesting the results in Iowa’s 2nd District after the state certified that Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks won by just six votes.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas., was quick to dismiss a reporter's request that he wear a mask during a Senate presser on Wednesday.
Cruz stepped up to the microphones, but was stopped before he could speak by the unidentified reporter asking, "Would you mind putting on a mask for us?"
"Yeah, when I’m talking to the TV camera, I’m not going to wear a mask," Cruz responded. "All of us have been immunized, so..."
"It’d make us feel better," the reporter is heard replying.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador blamed President Biden for the migrant surge that has erupted into a full-blown border crisis, arguing the “expectations” he set left migrants with the perception that they would be let in the US.
López Obrador made the remarks while speaking to reporters Tuesday, the morning after his government met with Biden’s envoys for the region, who were visiting to address the record spikes in illegal border crossings.

Christian students have won a legal challenge against the University of Iowa after school administrators banned the Business Leaders in Christ (BLinC) student group from campus for requiring its student leaders to affirm the Christian faith.
A federal appeals court has ruled that university officials who kicked BLinC off campus because of its faith can be held personally accountable for the harm they caused, according to a press release from Becket Law, a non-profit public interest law firm that defends religious expression.

At least 10 people have been killed, including a police officer, in a shooting at a supermarket in the US city of Boulder, Colorado less than a week after eight people were shot dead in the US city of Atlanta.
Police arrested Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, of Arvada and charged him with 10 counts of first-degree murder, Boulder Police Chief Maris Harold said at a press conference.
Alissa, who was shot in the leg, was in stable condition at an area hospital and was expected to be released later Tuesday, officials said.

Department of Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Sunday the Biden administration would release video “footage” of the conditions of the inside of migrant detention facilities to assuage concerns amid its continued refusal to allow members of the press inside.
“Let’s not forget that we’re in the midst of a pandemic and we are focused on our operations, executing our operations in a crowded border patrol facility where hundreds of vulnerable migrant children are located,” Mayorkas said.

American media’s misleading framing of a police officer’s description about why a man shot up multiple massage parlors in Atlanta was used by China’s state-run media outlet Sunday.
The Xinhua News Agency, the official state-run press agency of the People’s Republic of China, repeated a misleading claim suggesting Cherokee County Sheriff Capt. Jay Baker made excuses for Robert Aaron Long, who stands accused of killing eight people in Atlanta.

Biden felt three times as he scaled the stairs to Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews.
Biden tried jogging up the stairs to board Air Force One en route to Atlanta and fell hard on his knee.
When he arrived in Atlanta, he visited the Atlanta headquarters of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to thank public health workers amid the coronavirus pandemic and claimed that “science is back”, though he did not state where or how the science went missing.
Biden wrapped up his pep talk to the agency with a lengthy anecdote about meeting with then-VP Xi Jinping.

If President Biden makes good on a recent White House promise that he'll field questions from a roomful of reporters for the first time this coming Thursday, he will be doing so on his 65th day since taking office.
Saturday marked the 60th consecutive day the nation’s 46th president did not do a news conference with the White House press corps.
That stretch has been marked by several near-misses of interactions with the media:
On March 3, for example, Biden appeared ready to handle some questions from reporters during a virtual news conference with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but the video feed of the event suddenly cut off.

Barron Trump turns 15 today. Son of President Donald Trump and Melania Trump, the teenager has spent the past few years growing up in front of the nation’s eyes — literally. He now towers over his 6-foot-3 father and 5-foot-11 mother.
Since Barron was just an infant, he’s been subjected to a life in the spotlight. Now that Donald Trump is no longer president, though, the teen has been able to avoid the public eye much more than in the previous four years of his life.

The Ford Motor Company, a multinational automaker, is reportedly planning to move a $900 million investment originally intended for an Avon Lake, Ohio plant to a site in Mexico, the United Auto Workers (UAW) union alleges.
In a letter to Ohio Assembly Plant (OHAP) employees in Avon Lake, where Ford employs about 1,740 workers manufacturing its F-650 and F-750 medium duty trucks, UAW official Gerald Kariem said Ford had committed to investing $900 million in the project in 2019.
