It might not occur to you, because you are not a bizarre wierdo, but a lot of people really love the pandemic. Not just the little fascist gnome who changes his #science advice more often than a Wellesley girl changes her preferences during her sophomore year experimental phase, and not just the fascist pols who get off on exploiting their emergency powers to boss people around, but even some regular people. The masks, the paranoia, the constant talk about vaccines – some people love this stuff.
This is their Woodstock.
And they never want it to end.

I knew it! It's always puzzled me why so many fell for the mask routine. It's blatantly obvious they don't really accomplish a thing but allowing you to re-breathe in your own carbon dioxide and bacteria you just exhaled, so why is everyone wearing them even outside, on a windy day, in bright sunshine. I was coming around to the notion they liked them.

If this 'pandemic lover' thing is true, and I don't really doubt it, but don't know anybody like this, it shows how sad and weird some people are.
His final line is perfect.
"It’s time for those with empty lives to fill them up again with something that isn’t a hassle to the rest of us."
Yes, LEAVE US ALONE. Stop your stupid Dem-panic.
I have NEVER stayed home during this thing and never wore a mask until I literally couldn't get into a store without one. Numerous times I was the only person in a store without a mask, and was never accosted, never a word said by other shoppers or staff. But, eventually, there were door monitors and security guards, and I reluctantly gave in. The mask goes on at the door, and is off a few steps before I hit the exit. My only serious concession was to diligently spray down my hands with alcohol prior to entering my car, which I still do.....but occasionally forget in recent weeks. My wife and I have gone do dinner in a restaurant at least twice a week, but usually more often, through the entire Dem-panic, other than about 6 weeks when restaurants were ordered closed. In June through September, we were often only two of us and maybe one other table of two in a restaurant with 20 ot 30 tables. It was sad how people were hiding out. If Mr. Schlichter is right, they were "playing cowboys and indians in a cardboard fort" like a bunch of 7 year olds on a larger scale. That's nutso.
Just stop it! This is over.

It's kind of hard eating a hamburger and French fries in restaurant while wearing a mask.

I think wearing masks is like having a security blanket for these people. There’s that warm, moist, secure feeling having that thing on their faces and also gives a sensation of privacy. These kind of people tend to have been very self-conscious being in public before the mask mandates. I predict many will wear masks for the rest of their lives.

I stepped into an elevator in an open air garage. There was a masked woman and a masked man with a walker . She told me to put on a mask. I said no. She started to leave with the guy with the walker, I said no, I'll get out and I went to take the stairs..............I was out of the elevator and she called me a " female dog". This is the left for ya.

The pandemic is over. In our Canyon County, face masks were never mandatory, but 80% of the people here wear them. Sheep! The stores still have signs that say "wear masks" but we ignore them and no one has bothered us except one biddy at Walmart in the last 8 months. And Walmart customer service said they were not enforcing mask wearing. So there you Nazi mask wearing dictators!

Silicon Valley area.
One of my friends adult son has been a Karen from birth. He has loved this pandemic. Him and his equally strange GF have not seen anyone since it started. He refuses to visit with his family who lives two blocks away. He will drive by and wave. Most of my liberal friends who were super afraid and paranoid at the start, just could not maintain that level of fear. Everyone still wears masks around here all of the time. I am moving to a rural area in Northern Ca shortly. Where many many people do not wear masks and no one will yell at you if you do not have one on. The kids have back in school since Dec too.

I always appreciate Kurt’s insights, and enjoy how he presents them.
I would offer an additional perspective.
I’m observing that some people, particularly those in states with the most draconian lockdowns, have become programmed to be terrified. They’ve gotten the vaccine, but have no intention of changing their learned, fearful behavior. It’s as if they don’t know HOW to be free anymore.
It is horrific for us as a society. Congratulations demtards. You successfully brought us all hell.

What some people like is seeing others' lives being disrupted and controlled. They cannot stand to see people making their own decisions, doing well in life, and engaging in fun activities. We need to be trembling in fear at all times over being harmed or killed in some way. Bring on the murder hornets, global warming, racial disparities, and the next pandemic. In their minds we need to be taught a good lesson and punished for some perceived wrong doing.

My chief observation has been the reinforcement of something we probably all knew: the more liberal/statist an acquaintance is, the more likely he/she/it/they/other is to fall all over him/her/it/them/otherself to take all this to heart and religiously follow The Rules.

It's rather funny that he mentioned Trader Joes. I shopped at one just a couple of weeks ago after almost a year. Now I know why I haven't shopped there, even though it's out of my way. One year after these lockdowns started and this same TJ as the one visited last year, still has the shopper standing behind a yellow tape on the floor when checking out even though the cashier is behind plexiglass, wearing a mask and gloves. Won't be shopping there anytime soon. Idiots.

Kurt is spot on. I was quite disappointed when the church I attend required masks after several weeks of just distancing unless your were singing. Then you had to wear a mask regardless. I don't know if they will ever change or if I'll ever return. I've been through many such "epidemics" including polio and this has never happened before. This is not about a virus. This is about the control of free people through fear. This is what we should fear, not a virus.
