The Democrats want to use the riot for political purposes. They hope, with assistance from the always-obliging media, to present it as the tip of an insurrectionary iceberg spearheaded by hardcore Trump supporters. To this end, Nancy Pelosi favors a 9/11 style commission. She would like this small riot, in which only a handful of people died, to live in infamy the way the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, in which thousands of American perished, does. But comparing Jan. 6 and 9/11 is absurd

To the surprise of no one, New York Times and reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg was disingenuous in a Thursday story accusing culture-war obsessed Republicans of endangering America’s health during the pandemic: “Biden’s Top Health Posts Remain Empty as G.O.P. Focuses on Culture Wars,”
It’s clear The Times considers free expression, abortion, and women’s right to spaces of their own are time-wasting clickbait -- though with the issues of Dr. Seuss, abortion, and transgender activism, it’s invariably Republicans reacting to leftist overreach.
She began by fretting that it was the GOP that were waging in culture wars:

Parents who wanted children back in social settings and students in the most need of personal guidance have been given the chances they asked for, and the results have been only positive across the board. Now, data is supporting this decision as well.
During the pandemic, the media have been operating in a paradox.
We now have several COVID vaccines. All work, all have passed safety testing, and all are in wide distribution.
This is a huge accomplishment, but there’s one problem: A lot of people aren’t taking the shot.
Are they just ignorant anti-vaxxers?
No. As a recent focus group by Frank Luntz, reported in The Washington Post, demonstrates, a lot of people who won’t take the vaccine aren’t skeptical about vaccines in general. Just about this batch.
So maybe they’re just Red State Luddites?
No. In fact, it’s a worldwide phenomenon.
Shootings at two Atlanta-area massage parlors left eight people dead Tuesday evening. Six of the eight women appeared to be Asian Americans, yet the motive behind the shootings remains unknown. Police arrested a suspect, 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long, on Wednesday. Long reportedly told investigators that he had a sexual addiction and saw the businesses as a temptation he needed to eliminate.
Yet prominent Democrats rushed to blame “white supremacy” for the heinous shootings.

The resignation of Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo came as a surprise to most Houstonians, including the mayor. The announcement also caught many Miami officials by surprise, the city that has hired Acevedo. Miami officials were conducting a nationwide search for a police chief. Acevedo had not formally applied for the job. Apparently, Acevedo has friends in Miami City Hall. Houston City Hall was in the dark.
