To say that Turkey did not enjoy a smooth transition from being the seat of the collapsing Ottoman Empire, through World War I and into the modernist Ataturk era, would be a massive understatement. In those turbulent times, ethnic Turks, who were Muslims composing the vast majority of the population, considered their Christian minorities, especially the Armenians, to be disloyal and treacherous.

A few years ago in Illinois Lisa Madigan (AG) was going to allow the names of licensed gun owners to be released to the media. Fortunately the public outrage prevailed. They, anyone in charge, cannot be trusted with that power, even if there is potential to do good, far more harm will come of it.

#1, something similar happened in the Cleveland, Ohio area back around 2003. One of the editors of the Cleveland Plain Dealer published the names of citizens who had CCW permits. Shortly thereafter, a man who owned a store--and who had a CCW permit--was shot and killed while he was working. A gun rights group retaliated by publishing the name, address, and contact information of the newspaper editor.

When the leftist and liberal Democrats prove beyond a reasonable doubt that all criminals, gangbangers, folks with illegal guns, illegal aliens, and intending terrorists will willingly comply with their proposed gun registration laws and regulations will most law abiding people also comply. Since common sense will tell you that will never happen. So the Democrats will only be generating tens of millions of new felons out of law abiding Americans all over the country. Any establishment Republicans or RINOs who would vote for the Democrat gun control bills will be committing political suicide.

#3 - and possibly physical extermination.

Who wants to bet that they'd have this particular type of registration (unlike voter registration rolls) 100% accurate?
Interestingly, millions of democrats also own guns, many in just the past 8-10 months.

Even in "compliant" countries like Canada, their attempts to register guns collapsed upon themselves. I think most estimates were that Canadians registered about 30% of their guns, but that's just a guess, of course.
Not going to work here.
And the ONLY point to registration is to give them a list for the coming confiscation. Guaranteed, that is the purpose. Register the guns you plan on turning in.

What poster #3 says, and add that absolutely NO celebrity or politician can have armed guards protecting them or their families. All these leftists have to have some skin in the game also.

If you thought prohibition was unacceptable to Americans--and it was a constitutional amendment, then wait until the democrats see how real Americans respond to gun control.

I am not convinced that D.C. does not have a record of every background check performed when purchasing a firearm. These records are supposed to be destroyed, but the Left's hue and cry about seizing semi-automatic firearms leads me to think that isn't so.

Fascinating and frightening article.
Spent many - MANY - hours standing in the ammo line at a gun show this past weekend. Easily 300 in length at any time. Mostly Hispanics, some black families, and a handful of us "supremacists" (both male and female, guilty by nothing more than skin color). To a one, all were patient, friendly, and courteous. It was clear, though, that these folks were not to be trifled with when it came to their Second Amendment rights.

I wonder just how many criminals will register their firearms? Better store your legally obtained unregistered firearms now in a cache before Bewildered Biden's Gestapo comes for them.

#12, the Supreme Court has ruled that if criminals don't register their illegally owned guns, there is NO crime committed. They would be self incriminating if they registered, so they are literally EXEMPTED from the laws on registration of guns. Think about that. Criminals are specifically exempted.
YOU, as a non-criminal, will be put in jail if you don't register your guns.
Hard facts, please look it up.

Bracken gives several examples of gun registration efforts, always done in the name of "public safety." Eventually--and in the case of the Armenians, only four years later--groups were scapegoated, their guns confiscated, and they were exterminated. We must get over the notion that we are different because we live in the United States. Ask yourself the question, "Is anyone being scapegoated in the United States?" Nancy Pelosi recently said, "The enemy is within." And now Washington, DC is surrounded by fences and razor wire.
