Impeachment: McConnell's Verdict

Original Article

Posted By: zephyrgirl, 2/14/2021 7:56:33 PM

It is one of the ironies of the trial of President Trump on a charge of incitement of insurrection that the remarks most likely to be studied by historians is the speech delivered after the verdict — not guilty — was brought in. It was after the Senate ordered the outcome be sent for safekeeping with the Secretary of State, and the court of impeachment was adjourned, that Senator Mitch McConnell unloaded. His speech is likely to go down as one of the most remarkable ever delivered in the Senate.

Comments:

I doubt many people care what Mitch said except the conservative base who now has one more reason to despise Cocaine Mitch.

Completely disagree OP. This just proves once and for all time that he doesn't have the interests of the nation at heart, he has his own agenda with China. He and Ryan promised that they would not give a blank check to the incoming president, which I am convinced they knew would be Trump. Only promise that treacherous snake has ever kept too. I hope that we the people get riled up enough to scare some sense back into that congress, for if he is going to go out and interfere with the voters of each state who vote for Trump endorsed candidates, then he is in deep trouble.

Note well that Mitch McConnell's statement is nothing more than his opinion, and does not convey any information or evidence that Trump is guilty of anything. That and a nickel (well actually $4.50) will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

"Remarkable" in a totally "Benedict Arnold" sort of way!!! I'm guessing the Republi-Can't Party lost about 75,000,000 members in the last couple of months. And I'm going to miss calling myself a "Republican" about as much as I miss watching the NFL or NBA (which is none, zilch, zero)!!! I will still support solidly conservative candidates that run as Republicans. But I will never vote for another wishy-washy spineless RINO again just because he or she has an "R" after their name!!! I used to consider any Republican as the lesser of two evils compared to all Demon-Rats. But now I know they are just as evil, and more destructive, than the Demon-Rats!!! Never will I vote for evil again!!!!!

McConnell, the election was stolen. You have not investigated the allegations and opinions of 90% of your party. McConnell, you have not investigated what happened on Jan 6th. A Trump supporter was murdered. Who did that? McConnell, you and Pelosi are THE persons responsible for Capitol security, and you were briefed that there would be infiltrations of Trump supporters by rioters. I want to see the Gang of Eight briefings, or you need to be silenced for not telling the American people the truth. McConnell, you are a VERY wealthy man. I want an immediate investigation. McConnell, Trump has been investigated for the last 5 years, and you, McConnell, cannot stand up a day on your weak legs. McConnell, I have NEVER heard you say anything about a Democrat. The only time I hear you, McConnell, is when you are trying to destroy a fellow Republican. McConnell, you are a traitor. Trump was acquitted. Then you threaten him with criminal persecution. Who are you to threaten anybody with criminal persecution, McConnell? McConnell should be removed from the Senate leadership. He cannot betray the party, then lead it. That is not possible. If McConnell does not resign, then we have to form a new party with the RINOs, including McConnell not in it.

House Republicans planted themselves firmly in the camp of Donald Trump on Wednesday when they removed Rep. Liz Cheney from their leadership team after her criticism of the former president. In a closed-door meeting in the basement of the Capitol, Republicans voted to oust Cheney after she repeatedly called out Trump's false claims he won the election and criticized his role in the January 6 insurrection. After a voice vote, Cheney said: ‘I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again, is anywhere near the Oval Office.’ Cheney had addressed Republicans in the room before the vote.

Everybody is talking about murders, such as the Atlanta massage parlor massacres, the Muslim terrorist in Boulder, and the Washington, D.C., adolescent girl carjackers. But tiny sample sizes of spectacular crimes allow polemicists to hype whichever claims they want. What we need are large amounts of data. For example, everyone finally now admits what I’ve been saying for months: that murders went up a record-breaking percentage in 2020. But most still don’t want to admit it had anything to do with Black Lives Matter.

The Wyoming Republican Party voted overwhelmingly Saturday to censure U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney for voting to impeach President Donald Trump for his role in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Only eight of the 74-member state GOP's central committee stood to oppose censure in a vote that didn't proceed to a formal count. The censure document accused Cheney of voting to impeach even though the U.S. House didn't offer Trump 'formal hearing or due process.'
