The Department of Justice is probing Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX over whether the company discriminates against non-U.S. citizens in its hiring, according to court documents filed on Thursday. The Justice Department’s Immigrant and Employee Rights division received a complaint of employment discrimination from a non-U.S. citizen, who alleged that SpaceX discriminated against him based on his citizenship status.

The US government is investigating a US company for prioritizing the hiring of US citizens over non-US citizens? Of course they are.

This is really rich, since the DOJ itself is prohibited from hiring foreign citizens by EO 11935, " Citizenship Requirements for Federal Employment." Not to mention that SpaceX has government contracts, which, if they involve classified material might prohibit foreign nationals, and further makes them subject to EO 13940, "Aligning Federal Contracting and Hiring Practices With the Interests of American Workers.” Unless Dementia Joe Xiden repealed those while he was mumbling and stumbling.

This administration cannot have private companies outdoing NASA.
In fact the FAA at the last minute, would not allow them a test flight on Thursday. Probably for good reason, but an example of how bureaucrats throw pebbles at the feet of progress.

Maybe he did not want his trade secrets being sent back to non-citizen’s home countries?

How Ridiculous! Non-US citizen? Greencard required. Maybe Chinese wanting to steal Space X info. What about all those who broke the law in the past - not rich enough?

Probably didn't hire a black engineer who didn't have an engineering degree, or maybe a designer who was blind.

Elon's company must have turned down Hunter Biden's offer to sit on the board of directors.

Looks to me that some government officials are looking for a (behind the back) contribution to their lifestyle to back off.

Seems like the right thing to do but maybe it is also because you are stupid too. It's best for SpaceX to find out in advance you would be a problematic disgruntled employee. SpaceX dodged a bullet.

In Musk's defense, what are the odds of finding rocket scientists outside of the US citizenship population? If it had been a racial discrimination complaint I would be rolling on the floor.

Jo Bi Deng's enablers wants to move the United States commercial earth orbit systems from the engineers and Phd's with reliable and less expensive launch systems back to the career bureaucrats at NASA. Throw out the discrimination card as there is no logic in any metric or category used to compare the two. Not hiring foreigners to steal SpaceX intellectual property and possibly government/military is for once a prudent business decision.

Anyone else getting the feeling that Musk might be looking into a role larger than heading his own company? One of my tiny antennae just went up...

FTA: "SpaceX made inquiries about his citizenship status and ultimately failed to hire him for the position because he is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident”
Read: Illegal Alien. That sentence says it all.

Probably a muslim from Pakistan. Let's not forget how Stinky ordered NASA to start a muslim outreach program. We all know what rocket scientists muslims are. \s

My son works for an aerospace company. He has been vetted and given a security clearance so he can do his job. Why in heaven's name would we want to let foreign nationals root around in our classified space projects.

Excuse me, but perhaps, just MAYBE, there is a SECURITY reason for barring non-US citizens that's in their employment policy that was imposed on them by NASA and the Pentagon?? Oh gee.

The same type investigations are initiated when employers opt to hire US citizen workers over foreign workers, even illegal alien workers. The DOJ has a unit set-up to handle and prosecute such complaints that most US citizens don’t have a clue even exists.

Is Musk in trouble for hiring the best and brightest, most qualified person, regardless of skin color / race/ sex / gender ID? He only wanted the best person for the job and hired that person so that he could have a successful company with successful projects! Imagine that.

Nice to see the DOJ going after a successful US company on behalf of a non-US "citizen".
