MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — The little girl ran up to her, wide-eyed and giddy.
“Are you Charisse Davis?” the fourth grader asked.
Davis was stunned. A former kindergarten teacher and librarian, she was more accustomed to shuttling her two sons to basketball practice than being seen as a local celebrity. But now she had been elected the only Black woman on the Cobb County School Board, gaining office in a once conservative suburban community where people who look like her rarely held positions of power.

If not now, when? How about never? Doesnt that sound good?
I dont care what color the skin is, women in politics is a bad idea and they shouldnt be allowed to vote on how we run this country either

Always a comment about the damn hair. Half of the black women I see around here have straightened hair or even sleek wigs.
As a white suburban woman, I would dearly love to see people "who look like me" in commercials. The only companies that discriminate against blacks are those who refuse to hire them to play burglars in their security system commercials.

I am so sick of the racist sexist democrats!! What do you ca it when Biden just HAS to pick a woman of color (meaning bLACK) for VP? Watch TV now days and at least half or more commercials have POC ( meaning bLACK) people in them. A movies now must have POC (meaning bLACK) people in major roles. How about Hamilton (which I wouldn't watch if they staged it on my front lawn) and how it is filled with POC (you get the idea) playing whites but now a non-POC can't even provide voices for POC (and this time I really mean bLACKs). Good job setting race relations back 70 years.

Fine, Democrat black women get elected, but how many are competent? Stacy Abrams, Karen Bass the Commie, Kamala Harris? I wouldn't trust any of them in a crisis. Give me Trump any day of the week!

Why do they think they don't have the spotlight? Seems to me, they're hogging the spotlight and not for the good of the country.

#5 correct, and we also have t have the gay guy on the trash sows Big Brother and survivor.
I despise hearing a black person say, "As a black person, I ,,,"
Sounds like their inferior, a product of affirmative action, or seeking attention.

I don't care what gender or race they are. Their ideas are destructive to this great Country so their time is never. Of course being identity politicos, they cannot understand this. They think we are against them because they are Black or because they are women. I am against them because they are stupid and wrong. Just because they are obnoxiously mouthy doesn't make them right.

NEVER. Unqualified female AA hires are ruining major cities and don't even know it's happening. Painting "Black Lives Matter" on a street does not fix the street. They might be okay at cutting ribbons at art gallery openings but that's about it.

They have to seize the spotlight because they couldn't earn it legitimately.

WARNING: This is a fawning article about black women seizing power. However, from the article: “You have taken our votes for granted for years. But guess what?” she said. “It’s payback time: What are you going to do for us?” -- So, they are sticking with the party that has taken them for granted...doesn't sound like a strong strategy to me.
