Who has the burden of proof regarding the economic lockdowns: Those who argue for continuing them or those who want to lift them? The public health establishment, the mainstream media and most Democratic politicians assume that the burden of proof lies with the lockdown opponents. Advocates of reopening must show that any change to the current status quo will be “safe.” If the reopeners fail to make that showing, the lockdowns remain in place. With the burden of proof thus configured, proponents of continued economic stasis need not justify the “new normal”; moribund businesses and unemployed workers have become the

All crises have options with alternative trade-offs. The false trade-off continuing to be posed by the Democrats is "if only one life is saved", which is nonsense because it isn't just COVID patients who are dying as a result of these lockdowns. People who have not been able to go to the hospital and their doctors for other cxonditions are also dying. Some people are committing suicide due to financial ruin. Etc. And the country itself may eventually be attacked by hostile external enemies due to a weakened military condition too.
The President has to stop these lockdowns as a NATIONAL emergency and not just a state epidemic emergency.

People might start looking around and noticing they aren't sick, nor their families, or relatives, and the only ones dying are those that would be expected to die anyway. The healthcare officials acknowledge that almost none of you are likely to get the virus, get sick, or die. So why are so many of you sitting at home, many masked in their own yards? The mask is not about protecting you. It is about controlling you.

This is all about having a strong immune defense system in your own body. It is not about staying home sheltering in place as if there is a run amok mob of active shooters assassinating anyone that moves. This all about more and more government control of all parts of our lives. Eventual mandatory immunization, proof of vaccination ID cards, government tracking, Big Pharma, and raiding the US Treasury blind by deep state powers that be. It is a war on freedom. This is the new World War IV. We are under assault all day every day by dictatorial governors and mayors who take their marching orders from the DNC and will do anything they can to take every advantage of every opportunity to implement their Progressive Marxist agenda no matter what. They have wildly succeeded because we can not go to church, we can't go to our jobs, we have been ordered to stay home wear face masks, file for unemployment, beg for money from the government. Heard proposals for $2000.00 a month in Universal Income, which will absolutely destroy capitalism, and so many other proposals on their list it is just giving me a headache. Had enough? Today was VE Day. Will all of our servicemen and women that died fighting and winning WWII have died in vain if our freedoms are struck down in the name of a virus? It's a sad day in the USA.

Can we add a burden of proof to all those promoting the mandatory moron muzzles, er, I mean, masks? It's Covid Cos-Play. A non-medical cloth mask is useless to prevent any spread of disease. Every bit of science tells is this. But it's now the new socially appropriate way to appear in public!

Well #3, actually they have been releasing violent criminals back into society while protecting us from having our hair done.
They told us we were in a national time out to flatten the curve. They have told us that the curve has flattened. Why are we still in time out? All we get is shut up and eat your cake.

Here’s a question for you. So we stay in lockdown in our area until no more coronavirus cases. We open it up then someone comes in from somewhere else and reinfects us. Do we shut down again?
This whole shutdown should never have been allowed

My mistake, I agree to the shutdown to prepare , which we did. We prepared so it is only necessary to shutdown hot spots. I live in a county that had zero new cases but Governor Islee added an extra 3 weeks because a resident of our county got coronavirus when she visited another part of the state. She was quarantined there and is now well, but because she lives in this county we got punished for it.

Go Heather!! Amen, sister!! "Prove that social distancing mitigates the spread of disease" Vs. "Prove it doesn't." Oops!! Cant prove a negative. President Trump, dump Fauci before you start to think like him.

The proponents of lockdown are substituting power for proof. They have the power, so who needs proof?

It's called freedom, and time we went back to it. Yeah, might be a bit of risk. So, if you don;t like it stay home as long as you want.

No, the real proof is in who wins - the demonrats that want to kill PT's economy so he's not reelected or the republicans who want to save PT's economy and get him reelected to continue the success.

Good article, but unfortunately the author has some misleading data in it. The reason the death toll on April 15 was 4,408 was due to NY reclassifying about 1,700 deaths as "caused by COVID-19" that had previously been classified as "cause of death unknown." They did this because the CDC instructed states to attribute death to COVID-19 even if the person had not been tested for the disease but was "suspected" of being infected with COVID-19. My understanding is that the standard for doctors signing death certificates has always been if you don't have a definitive cause of death, you must enter "unknown" on the certificate. If you look at the daily death stats, they are fluctuating all over the place due to states jumping no the COVID-19 death bandwagon: they are all cooking the books. Somebody needs to explain why this is being done (money?), and, for example, why we haven't done the same with seasonal influenza or other contagious diseases. Without these cooked numbers, the mortality rate of COVID-19 would be at or below that of seasonal influenza, yet the hysteria continues over the "deadliness" of this virus.
