A Sioux Falls meatpacking plant was forced to close when it became the epicenter of COVID-19 in South Dakota. Three weeks after executives from its Chinese owner, WH Group, visited the plant, a month after President Trump's ban on travel from China, nearly 600 of Smithfield Foods' 3,700 employees tested positive for the virus, as have 135 additional people in close contact with employees.
Smithfield Foods was started in 1936 by a family in Virginia. Today, the Chinese own Armour and the famous Smithfield hams, together with the most quintessential American brand of all: Nathan's Famous hot dogs, with its iconic annual eating contest.

It is stunning that the iconic Nathan’s Hot Dogs actually sold their family business to - the Chinese.
Oh my goodness.

We ought to stop buying all the Smithfield meat brands, just STOP it, run them out of business.
Chinese owned, and many/most workers are illegals. Not a business model that I want to support.

#2, the probably sold it to that "fine old American company Smithfield", and Smithfield's globalist owners sold out to the ChiComs.

So: How close is the CCP to being able to BlackMail America, and the Western World, into any position the Chinese government wants?
With pen/notebook in hand, I'm going to reread this article and start my Boycott List. I'm also going to list all products I buy regularly and Google their Corporate Profiles.
This article is an EyeOpener. From now on, I will only buy Non-CCP, if at all possible. Does that mean I have to BoyCott Walmart, Amazon, HomeDepot, etc?
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions........
BTW: I read that the CCP will remove 'Made in China' from their exports.

It's past time for a serious look at the reach of the CCP in the U.S. How about the feckless cretins in the CONgress get off their backsides, and focus on something other than staying elected and enriching themselves while we're being sabotaged.

I still have a problem with writers telling us how badly China wants to dominate the world, how evil the CCP is, and how they want to rule the globe economically, etc,. While not considering the timing of the spread of this virus. Quick review: the stock market was pushing 30,000; we had the lowest unemployment in fifty years; Trump increased the tariffs on Chinese goods in order to level the playing field with China; Trump was cruising to an easy reelection because the Democrat candidates were blatant socialists or too senile; and we are hit with a virus that sends the stock market into a crash; unemployment is higher than it was in the Great Depression; and tens of millions are out of work; right now, we look more like a socialist dictatorship than countries ruled by tinpot dictators; and we are told that the virus came from a wet market or leaked accidentally from the Wuhan lab. Say what??!!

Nikita Khruschev's famous *We will bury you* comment* can be aimed at Capitalism and the Communist Chinese use this as thorn to bleed us.

While were on the subject, chinese banks give 150 year mortgages to chinese home buyers in NYC in order to buy up everything they can. I believe it's a matter of time before we have a chinese mayor, one controlled by CCP.

All things considered their is a case for federalizing these companies out of Chinese hands reopening them, then selling them on the stipulation they MUST be owned American.
Then take a long look at every company in America. If you are infrastructure or essential, you must be US owned. Investing from foreign sources may not have voting rights. Any company dealing with research and development concerning US military in ANY WAY may not be owned nor allow contact with foreign entities.
Through companies like GOOGLE, APPLE, and others our technology has been stolen. If you want to do business here, then there will be certain controls.

I agree with #12. I also believe our government could stop this takeover by the Chinese by allowing farmers to sent their Beef and Pork to local slaughter Houses (such as they did in Chicago). Local Meat markets should be allowed to sell those products. I don't know all the rules, but I'm pretty sure congress could get involved in allowing these Local Slaughter Houses to work with Meat markets in our country! If they need to sell overseas, we should not allow the Chinese to OWN these Slaughter Houses such as Smithfield! In fact, we should not allow the Chinese to own anything in our country and we should NOT buy anything from china as of right now! Yes, their goods are cheaper, but they're Junk! We need to support our country by buying Made in the USA! That includes the food we eat!
