President Trump clearly overstated the case when he asserted that the president’s authority in the current crisis is “total.” The fact is that the Constitution doesn’t grant total authority to any branch of the government. It looks, though, at least to us, as if Mr. Trump was set off by news that some states were entering into regional pacts to plan the reopening of their economies.
If that is what set Mr. Trump off, it’s easy to see why. Mr. Trump and all other officers and legislators and judges of the federal and state governments are bound by oath to the Constitution. Yet that same

Much ado over Donald Trump's manner of speaking. He knows the Constitution better than most democrats, all reporters and that "constitutional scholar" from the jungles of Kenya and Indonesia. The President is doing a fine job so stop the sniping and give him some credit for once.

What I like about what Trump did is he got the loudmouth governors like Cuomo to blurt out "I'll decide when to reopen New York, NOT Trump, he is not King." Okay then, that really let's Trump off the hook. I never understood why anyone ever thought Trump had to decide when to reopen the country when he never made any decisions to close it down.
The media were salivating over the opportunity to blame Trump for every sneeze/cough/death that occurred after gave the order to reopen. Will they blame the governors? Yes, they will blame the GOP governors, but not the dim govs.
Looks to me like red state governors are realizing they over reacted and its time to get back to normal. Will the blue state govs hang onto their tyrannical control? Maybe the voters will finally have had enough of their nanny state control freaks, but I'm not holding my breath.

#3 the Constitution doesn’t mention shutting down the economy either but they did. I am not a constitutional scholar but I do believe that this article has it right. What the writer doesn’t mention is the complete overreach by the power mad Governors and the overnight cancellation of our civil liberties. The State legislators need to wake up. I’m shocked that Americans put up with this for as long as they did, but the dam is breaking and the people will rise up.

"We are all in this together" was the rallying cry on every radio station, TV station, and the spokespeople for these governors. THEY wanted national level sympathies and federal dollars for their ill-prepared states and cities. THEY wanted one size fits all for the virus response. If NYC does it, then we must do it in Podunk, Mizsippi, damnit. Well, OK. You have your money, equipment and field hospitals; i.e, you've been bought. Trump is angry because you don't understand the Don. If you were bought, you need to stay bought. Idiots.

Fredo's brother Andrew is clearly past his "sell by" date. Imagine if we had to listen to him drone on every day for 4 or 8 years? The guy is clearly a whiner, and as President Trump would say, not a very bright one. Andrew better get careful in poking the bear, he will lose a hand and then his head.

President Trump showed his mastery at negotiation and his control over the situation with one sentence.
He accomplished quite a few things with that declaration.
He just made the Governors take responsibility for the condition of their state's economies. Amazingly enough, he got the media and the democrats to read the Constitution and acknowledge the US's Federalist heritage. Even better, the democrats/media were actually arguing in favor of "State's Rights" under the Constitution. When was the last time we saw that happen? Not in my lifetime anyway. President Trump is using TDS to herd the democrats where he wants them to go, and the country will be better for it.

Isn’t it amazing how all these leftist governors are screaming about states’ rights when they freak out completely at the possibility of repealing Roe v Wade?

The deranged left still underestimates President Trump! What they should do is sit back and watch, and learn. Instead, they repeatedly make fools of themselves.

It seems to confirm that the President is right with of all things an executive order signed by Obama in March of 2012 and is merely a changing document whose history stretches all the way back to a Proclamation written by George Washington himself.

Trump is smart! They all wanted to blame I’m for everything, so he said, ok I’m responsible for EVERYTHING...and the Governors squealed! Now t own it and Trump is off the hook with timing of reopening!

Democrat governors on both coasts on the same day announce that they have formed separate groups to plan opening up their states. Does not pass the smell test.

It seems every chief executive, from the White House to the governor's mansion to mayors and even lesser somehow think they have "Total" authority. Someone decides it is an emergency, and so it is one, regardless of the honest truth. That begins the stampede of "concerned citizens", and unleashes the "Karens" among us. The next thing you know the toilet paper is gone from the shelves and while emptying the jails the cops are arresting people for not wearing masks or trying to attend drive-in church services. The hysteria continues...

Trump was right in saying that he has 'total' control. Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus and the Supreme Court up held that edict. There are Executive Orders that must be followed until the Supreme Court or the legislature says the order is illegal.

I am all for the Governors mutining. Go pay for things yourselves. We will see how long you mutiny before you are back asking Trump for more money and favors. Go Ca., go NY, pay for yourselves. Have a nice day!
